hi there, i recently reinstalled my vista and it took away 25gb from my 100gb hard drive and reduced my RAM from 1gb to 893mb. is there a fix to this problem? now i use your tweaks to make it faster thank you very much.May i ask if there is a fix to bring back my lost hard drive memory and bring back my RAM to 1gb ? thank you .
@SuperDongringo Windows uses a portion of your hard drive for recovery, it is not gone but not usable anymore. your RAM is being shared by your video device. still there but no longer available.

@MrKasperabhay First I would make sure that your video display device is up to date with a current driver and you do not have a ton of programs running that you dont need, some internet security programs and anti virus software's can slow you down big time, Also your hard drive can cause your pc to be slow if it is getting old or worn out.
@BetaFlux my driver is up-to date (intel 965), i have only java , visual C , windows live installed and they are the only prog who's memory is greater than 100 MB rest all software below 100 MB (except VLC player 76 MB) and they are'nt much in Num.for speeding up i wipe clean space , defrag, index, repair registry, even my visual FX are adjusted 4 best performance... my lappy has a video mem. of 448 mb but only 350 (around) is available for gamin. still my laptop heats up and slows down..ugh
@MrKasperabhay I would suggest that you invest in a can of air, and blow the heat vents out real good, the best thing would be to take it apart and clean the cooling fans, but that can be dangerous if your not careful. it can be done easily but takes patience. You should try one of those cheap cooling fan devices that you set your laptop on with fans of its own, they run on USB power, for like $20.00. Heat is a terrible enemy.
@BetaFlux i did that too..lol i gave my laptop to the service center they fixed the heat sink and fan..istill dunno ehat the problem is i face extreme lag even when i play low intensity games.. i get 9 fps...ugh...the fan starts rotating very fast...i think i need to format my PC . last time i format my PC was about 2 years ago..(i just want to avoid format cuz there is tons of data in it and unfinished projects )
@MrKasperabhay You could save all your data to a usb drive or burn it to a cd or dvd, then wipe out your drive, but I do know that if your hard drive gets over half full it will start to slow down because windows uses your free hard drive space in your cache and treats it as free memory,

Turn off the Windows search service if you don't use it, and turn off other uneeded services you don't use, turn off start up items you don't use. That usually helps a lot. OR you can just get Windows 7.
windows defender is a poor excuse for a program i disabled it from the start it acts like a anti-virus but its one of the biggest problems vista has as far as resource hogging i suggest anyone disable it if you do in fact have a anti-virus/spyware program!!!!!!!!!

My aunt gave an Acer laptop with vista basic....i was so happy then...when I made my school report on vista and presented it in class, vista lagged for about 37 mins.. the whole class laughed and thinking that my vista is a trash. now I got embarrassed...shame on microsoft in making this garbage..sorry but it's true...i will upgrade it too 7 if it's good.
Better yet, dont buy a compaq and get rid of all your shit that you have everywhere on your desktop and buy a decent pc. If Vista was any good it would make the pc laugh at you for buying it.

I finally called MS Corp. and have an email to answer regarding the whole mess. Also, Toshiba is great!! Anyway, If you are on a non secure wireless it is not that easy to access your pc, someone would have to be a hacker, in that case your not safe anyway. Best practice is to not make enemies. LOL.. Yes Microsoft has built in Security holes that they can do anything they want at any time.

@BetaFlux You are welcome. I'm grateful for all your help. The folks at Microsoft really didn't do much. They are sending me a VISTA disk. The CHKDSK function is great! The Ccleaner is great. Your videos are extremely helpful. I'm still have a problem with videos, not just in YOUTUBE. It's on other websites too. Maybe it's the wifi connection that's not picking up the signal properly. I'll keep trying. I went into the protocols in Windows Media Player and fixed that. Thanx.
@Americanjazzlady Well, I'm glad some of these things have helped you, I think your right about the wi-fi being weak, if you can move the router around to get a less obstructed flow of signal to your pc that would help. you should have at least 3 out of 5 bars for a good signal.

I hate windows vista.. such a pile of rubbish to work on using programs like indesign, photoshop, illustrator, corel draw, flash, and for recording videos just freezes up all the time.. and those updates are driving me crazy.. im getting a mac in a few months cant take it anymore im close to banging my head against the wall when it comes to making it work properly... not talking about super fast... just GOOD... damn it
@xnotjustaprettyfacex You can turn the auto updates off, they are mostly crap anyway. also Vista does not use a pagefile like XP did and now Win7, you need a ton of memory for vista, like a min of 2gb but should have 4gb. if you have less than 2gb of memory that could make a huge difference on speeding your system up.
quick question i have herd that having aero on if you have a good graphics card that your computer will actually run better because it off loads the graphical interface to the gpu taking some of the load off your cpu
The thing he says about UAC is not completely correctly... What UAC does is that it makes Internet Explorer run in a sandbox which will make sure that when a virus will enter your pc through internet explorer, it will stay in that sandbox so the virus will not infect your pc. Also deactivating Windows Defender is retarded... It is just an extra safety which other programs mostly dont give...
I personally think Windows 7 is amazing. My Vista laptop has been re-born, as I couldn't use it as it was just too slow. Upgraded to windows 7, and I was amazed to see I can now use it.

I was using win7 for the last few months, the beta and full version. I just today went back to XP because win7 keeps getting screwed up on me, My printer will not work properly, My camera will not work right and I have problems editing videos from my Flip.
Since Windows Seven is build with the best of Windows XP and the best of Windows Vista combined with some extra tools, i dont understand how such things can happen. If windows 7 cant run what windows xp can then u have realy old hardware and such.

I would like to know if i ought to mark or unmark "Automatic update" in Windows Security Center if i got cracked Vista? Does it make any difference? is it safe to leave it unmark? this updating takes maaaany hours i suppouse - i got 5% completed after 20 minutes since it started update...
if the update is partially completed, i suppouse i stopped updating at 20%, shall i be worry ? should i format the disk again and reinstall whole system??
by clicking apply, the changes will be done but will switch to default once you click x, useful if you want to try out the changes rather than pressing ok then exiting that window and finding out that you don't like it.

I know you need a min of 15% free space to run defragmenter, other than that I dont know why it would not run for you, I made a video that you can download a new defragmenter that is real nice, in the search above my videos on my channel page type in defragmenter you'll find it.

I tried to make my Vista fly. But when I through it out the Windows the UAC came up asking me if I wanted to Allow flying. I couldn't reach the computer so it fell and died.
Vista is very greedy with memory, vista uses the memory for a page file XP uses part of the hard drive. SO Vista needs more memory, I would recommend a min. of 2GB ram for vista.

Well i found some ways on youtube and micrsoft to make vista faster
1.Windows Vista Home Basic might not be good but it requires half the ram and disk space and way less video
2.search for a tutorial on youtube called "Make Windows Vista 50% Faster"
Follow that guys instructions and your windows vista should work better :D

I hate windows vista.. such a pile of rubbish to work on using programs like indesign, photoshop, illustrator, corel draw, flash, and for recording videos just freezes up all the time.. and those updates are driving me crazy.. im getting a mac in a few months cant take it anymore im close to banging my head against the wall when it comes to making it work properly... not talking about super fast... just GOOD... damn it

@xnotjustaprettyfacex You can turn the auto updates off, they are mostly crap anyway. also Vista does not use a pagefile like XP did and now Win7, you need a ton of memory for vista, like a min of 2gb but should have 4gb. if you have less than 2gb of memory that could make a huge difference on speeding your system up.

The thing he says about UAC is not completely correctly... What UAC does is that it makes Internet Explorer run in a sandbox which will make sure that when a virus will enter your pc through internet explorer, it will stay in that sandbox so the virus will not infect your pc. Also deactivating Windows Defender is retarded... It is just an extra safety which other programs mostly dont give...

I personally think Windows 7 is amazing. My Vista laptop has been re-born, as I couldn't use it as it was just too slow. Upgraded to windows 7, and I was amazed to see I can now use it.

I was using win7 for the last few months, the beta and full version. I just today went back to XP because win7 keeps getting screwed up on me, My printer will not work properly, My camera will not work right and I have problems editing videos from my Flip.
XP is just more stable.

I would have to set the blame on you not me, I didnt change any settings in your computer, you must have changed something wrong, you can run a system restore back to the day before you watched this video and it will be fine, you must have turned off the settings that run all of your graphics, or you may just have to choose a new theme.

I would like to know if i ought to mark or unmark "Automatic update" in Windows Security Center if i got cracked Vista? Does it make any difference? is it safe to leave it unmark? this updating takes maaaany hours i suppouse - i got 5% completed after 20 minutes since it started update...

Probably a good idea to (NOT) get the updates if your running a cracked vista. I find that most updates make your pc run like crap anyway.

by clicking apply, the changes will be done but will switch to default once you click x, useful if you want to try out the changes rather than pressing ok then exiting that window and finding out that you don't like it.

I know you need a min of 15% free space to run defragmenter, other than that I dont know why it would not run for you, I made a video that you can download a new defragmenter that is real nice, in the search above my videos on my channel page type in defragmenter you'll find it.

I tried to make my Vista fly. But when I through it out the Windows the UAC came up asking me if I wanted to Allow flying. I couldn't reach the computer so it fell and died.

Vista is very greedy with memory, vista uses the memory for a page file XP uses part of the hard drive. SO Vista needs more memory, I would recommend a min. of 2GB ram for vista.

depending on how old it is it could be a number of things, Typical slow down with no software issues is usually a hard drive
