Great Video I really enjoyed that. I'm currently going to school to learn how to weld and pipe has been the hardest process for me. I am having trouble getting my root pass in with 6010 rod. That keyhole is hard to control. I have been running at 80 and going downhill in quarter sections but am having trouble getting penetration and or blowing through my joint. I'd be more worried about the fact that they are welding an easy ass pipe on a pipe stand and they are still going down hand . I can almost undersand it for the root if it where a super thin wall pipe but even then use some 60/10 and weld up hand . Even after the root pass the are still continuining with down hand passes which doesnt produce as strong as a weld as an uphand(the right way) for the filler or cap they are still whipping which you would think they wouldnt do as they should be 70/18

I was really pissed off to hear that because had just finished a chemical engineering and science degree and the offers were so crap for a grad - if it wasn't enough to have slaved over a degree with no pay for 5 years and then my offers were 32K/annum starting. Go fuck yourself. I bought a Kombi and hit the road.

The the Union wanted me to be their SHop Steward because I had a degree - that really caused trouble with my girlfriends dad didn't it.

I am the real deal, and here's some advice: Don't waste your money at Tulsa welding school. You will be no closer to a pipeline welder than you are now. I had two helpers last year that had spent 13-16 thousand there, and couldn't do any thing. They don't even come close to teaching you to pipe weld. Believe me or not, but if you go there, when you get out, remember I told you so.

its because the weld code states, you only have a short period of time ,like 20 minutes from tack to hotpass & first fill pass to avoid cracks ,stress ,fatigue. then you can wait up to 72 hrs if needed to complete the weld...any pipe larger than 12" must be brother in lawed ,there are other reasons also
