Well it's difficult because how exactly can you legislate who can have children and who can't. You cut off the disability payments, you can be viewed as cutting off the funds for the other children she had before the 8.
Then how can you decide who can and can't receive IVF, without being viewed as denying people their rights to birth children. It's a sticky situation which this woman has completely abused, and potentially harmed the rights of others attempting to have children in the future.
Plastic surgens often do checks and mental health screenings before performing life-altering procedures. I think there is a good argument to be made for that being done in this case. IVF doctors should make sure they aren't sending babies into inappropriate situations.

Well it's difficult because how exactly can you legislate who can have children and who can't. You cut off the disability payments, you can be viewed as cutting off the funds for the other children she had before the 8.
Then how can you decide who can and can't receive IVF, without being viewed as denying people their rights to birth children. It's a sticky situation which this woman has completely abused, and potentially harmed the rights of others attempting to have children in the future.

Am I the only one that doesn't give a fig about the money?! It's not about the money- it's about how this obviously disturbed woman is so selfish that she can't possibly be a good mother- especially to 14 kids, 3 of whom have special needs. She can't possibly give them all the love, attention and care they will need. It isn't about her being single either- it's about her being selfish. "I always wanted a large family" - what about what the kids want? THEY ARE PEOPLE TOO, something she can't see.

The octuplets mother's mind is in outer space. She is out of touch with reality. The fertility doctor who already knew she had 6 kids at home sounds a bit off his rocker, too.
The fertility doctor should have known better. Probably, after this case, fertility doctors will be more careful.
Taxpayers shouldn't pay for this insanity. The fertility doctor should pay for the raising/feeding/clothing/educational/medical care & expenses of the octuplets for the next 18 years. That's fair.

She got $160K in compensation for not being able to WORK. Raising 14 kids is WORK. She took the money given to her for her inability to work and bought herself some WORK. But it's not the kind of work that gets paid by an employer. It's the kind of work that gets paid by 14 WELFARE checks.

Oh no...we can blame the doctor for in vetro fertilizating her. Doctors are supposed to know the history of their patients, and she has been to this same doctor over and over to have her eggs taken out, fertilized, and then placed back in her.
He's just as guilty because it usually only take 2-3 to try and get a woman pregnant through this method. He knew what he was doing, and since the other 6 chances worked, there was high probability this would work as well.

Where does it say anywhere that the taxpayers have to pay for somebodys ignorance? Pay for her education, give her handouts, and as seen pay for having her nails done? Those poor children are going suffer. 1 parent -14 children-24 hours in a day-school-meals-activities-housework-LAUNDRY-church-new clothes-lunch at school-the list goes on and on. and lets not forget LOVE AND ATTENTION, lost focus on that part huh.What is she telling our kids? Im sorry but I think the state of California needs to put a stop to this. She chose to spend all that money on fertility and I don't see where it is the taxpayers problem to support this person. However she is getting what she wants, media, and Dr. Phil, Dateline etc..thats really what she wants is to do the poor me thing. I feel really bad for those children and I feel as though Social Services/some child protection needs to step in. NEGLECT???? It is certain to happen.

I agree with all of you. I am a taxpayer I am paying for her medical bills etc. that she created. Who is paying for my bills? Maybe I could start a web page as well asking for help, taking handouts. Im sure there are alot of you who are laid off or are suffering hard times or even have sick children that need medical care and cannot get help..Who in the hell does she think she is.
