actually i don't think this is true. Look at ANY of the songs from their Melbourne 99 performance - his voice was awesome during this period and it's their best performance ever IMO. His voice has definitely changed - he seems to struggle to keep proper pitch 1/2 the time.

This song was originally released on their "Neon Ballroom" album, which came out in 1999, which is the same year Muse released their first album...i highly doubt anyone was trying to sound like anyone here.

As someone else said, this is from an album (Neon Ballroom) released in April of 1999. Muse's first real album didn't come out until later that year. So, I doubt anyone was trying to be like anyone else.
