  • rBST is a naturally occurring hormone in the animal and is found in any form of milk you buy. There has been no evidence that has any positive or negative effects on the body..people just get scared when they hear 3 letters...MSG anyone? They only difference between organic milk and conventional milk is the animals must be fed organic grain for at least 2 years before they can claim their milk is "organic." If this suits you fine, if not drinking milk suits you fine..but she is not legit ^

  • Tell me a good alternative for my 1 year old son????????

  • @Zachr3978 milk is GREAT and raw milk for your 1 year old would be a bad idea wait till he gets a little older.

  • Dr.? Where did you attend medical school?

  • Cows are only confined in barns during winter in places where it snows. Otherwise, in places such as Australia, New Zealand and anywhere it dosen't snow, cows roam freely in pastures all the time. Humans have been consuming dairy products for thousands of years. It provides us with vital vitamin b12. It is part of our history and culture. Prehaps we just need to sort out the issues in modern milk production, such as stealing calves from cows at birth.

  • Hello, Doctor Pearsall. You should inform your audience that raw milk is banned or under strict control in most states, and to check local laws before buying raw milk and thus, committing a crime.

  • Great thing i drink raw milk.

  • Im sorry, but the problems thats are stated in this video are the same as ANY of the foods, milk is good for what you use it for, all the meat, fruits, Veg., and grain you eat compensates for all the lackings of milk. As for hormones, the growth ones are already in the milk(thats why calves grow)

For all the people out there: cut out junk food and drink milk! its about 10x healther then stoping your calcium intake(broken bones anyone?)

  • milk isn't the ONLY source of calcium foo. There are other alternatives to it: raw milk, milk substitutes which are calcium enforced, dark green leafy vegetables...

  • I agree with most of that except the part where she says drink raw milk from "natural" cows. Milk has way too many fatty elements and proteins for humans. It is designed for calves(who are cruelly removed from their mothers so humans can steal their milk) It causes acid in humans and to neutralise this the body robs the bones of calcium, which in turn can cause osteoporosis. Drink rice milk, tastes great and you avoid the cruelty .

  • Great comment!!!

    Thank you!!

I totally agree, cow's milk is NOT for humans, it's for calves!!!

Our body is NOT designed to process it.

    It's common sense.

  • Yes hippies are annoying but that doesn't mean vegetables are bad. Getting salmonella from vegetables is EXTREMELY rare. I guarantee if all you eat is meat/dairy and no vegetables you won't live to see 40.

  • is powdered milk healthy??

  • um, i don't care if the nutritions are gone when pastuerized, i'll stick with pasteurized organic milk..

  • Drink raw milk???You can get disease by drinking that.

  • You are as likely to get disease from drinking pasteurized milk.

  • If you have leaky gut that you get allergies or if you drink excessively.

  • What?? Me?? The question again!...

  • Google: Waisays milk.

    Google: The China Study.

    Google: Rense LS-50

Google: Rense the truth about milk and dairy the facts.

89% of american cattle infected with bovine leukimia virus.

Casien and 59 types of hormones initiate and fuel glandular cancers, breast/prostate. Fact.

Homogenized heat damaged/denatured protiens are worthless and not useable and cause leukocytosis. fact.

  • In response to The China Study:

My ancestors were not Chinese, they were European.

Google: Weston A. Price, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration

The China Study is flawed because it does not look into other polluting factors in China.

Many vitamins are only soluble in fat and without these vitamins you can not absorb many minerals (calcium - vitamin a, magnesium - vitamin B6, etc.)

You can not just look at what food is eaten, but more important is how that food is PROCESSED.

  • In response to Waisays milk:

Osteoporosis did not exist in Europe prior to the industrialization of the food industry.

  • In response to Rense LS-50:

For magnesium: The site is just plain wrong. Most recommended ratio calcium: magnesium is 2: 1. Not the 1:1 stated there. Heck, eat chocolate (4:1 ratio magnesium: calcium).

Raw milk does not turn rotten at all, it sours (becomes more acidic).

Most cholesterol in your system comes from your liver, not the foods you eat.

If you dont think that cows milk is good for humans, you should at least drink goats milk. It is closer to human milk.

  • One food that is key in preventing osteoporosis (and many other illnesses), is "RAW MILK", not pasteurized or powder milk, these are poison(not even they can be considered "foods") which nowadays are consumed by most people in all countries.

  • there are 20,000,000 children on this earth that suffer from clinical malnutrition. you lose 40-60% in yield with crops grown with 100 yr old technology. Wealthy countries with people who have too much time on their hands and need to worry about what color carton of milk to buy need to send their xtra dairy products to places like Niger Africa. Send more powder milk to make Plumpynut.

  • don't believe the "organic thing" their just people tying to use scare tactics to get u to pay 3 times as much for the same thing.

  • Untill the cancer on this earth called humanity is slowed down, science is going to have to find ways to be more efficient and productive. There aren't enough acres of land on this planet, or fish in the sea to use 50 year old "organic" technology to feed the world.

  • Don't believe all these crack pot "doctors" science isn't evil. milk, be it organic or conventional is just food, and like all things in this world when used in moderation is good for u. MILK IS MILK

  • It's not sad it's reality. America feeds the world, we have the land and natural resources to do it untill the soviets can build an infrastructure to meet future global demand its up to the usa. South America has to burn rain forest and jungle to create land. Europe has already leveled most of their forests for crop land.

  • It's sad but you've got to know Americans that your system has been exported to many countries in the world. In fact, a farmer told me that his cows feed was produced by an American company.

  • Here in Spain you can't find unhomogeneized milk anywhere. All milk that is sold in shops is UHT homogeneized milk, even the organic one. You can't even make your own yoghurt with this milk (I've tried). Still, organic herds are very rare in the country, all cows producing milk are Holstein living in confinement and feed with grains as in USA, treated with antibiotics.

  • Next this "doctor" will tell you to eat raw meat, eggs and shell fish, not to wash your hands with soap don;t vaccinate your children or pets.

  • Xanthine oxidase with cholesterol?i thought it's with uric acid..&yeah,pasteurising kills bacteria.

  • Dear Dr Pearsall,

i am surprised to hear such advice from a doctor: although pasteurization might change taste and induce some conformational changes in the proteins, it sure has its own purpose of protection. If milk isn't properly heated (and thus pasteurized), some bacteria may survive and infect consumers. Pasteurization kills the non sporulating bacteria and thus reduces the chance of infections

  • I drink organic milk and it has been pasteurized?

  • Go Organic!

  • I drink raw milk. I'm an average Joe. Go to your local health food store, it doesn't cost that much more.

  • The only problem i have with her solution of drinking raw milk is, how the heck does she expect the every day joe to be able to go out and find "Raw" Milk... I mean really, you can't go to the corner store and buy it! Its something that isn't readily available to everyone in this country! great idea, but not realistic enough!

  • well that's a whole different issue in itself. The gouverment is purposely making it more and more difficult for people to acquire foods that they feel aren't profitable enough. as little as 40 years ago raw milk was given out in rounds and this is still the way it is distributed in some countries today.I personally have to go down to the farmers market once a week to get it , but I can't emphasize enough how happy I feel about purchasing such a wonderful product from a healthy happy animal.

  • "but has even been documented to cure and treat ailments , anything from autoimmune disorders to diabetes"

There is a vast amount of evidence that shows Dairy products/animal protein such as milk PROMOTE Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease and many other ailments. Read the largest nutrition study ever done-by Harvard, Cornell among others: The China Study is a book complete with many many references pertaining to these issues.

  • I'll def look that up but I would most likely find that all of these are most likely associated with conventional milk which has pasturiesed and homogenized since it is the milk that is mostly consumed , raw milk accounts for just 1% of the entire 'milk market'.

  • The French eat raw cheese and milk all the time and they're just fine. osteoporosis in Sweden has been associated with a greater intake of vitamin A since they consume alot of fish and fish oil.Plus cancer has been more associated with refined sugar. and refined vegetable oils greatly contribute to heart diseases .

  • I don't think a great intake of vitamin A is the cause of osteoporosis in Swedish people. You know when scientists make their studies they associate what they want with the illnesses they want, many times they correlate variables that have no relation. They only link what the companies who finance them want to see linked. You know we can't consider true most of the outcome hipothesis of scientific studies, because they are sadly very biased.

  • This is for Riko1980: It is more likely that the cause of osteoporosis in Swedish people is the lack of sunlight, because Sweden has very little all year round. They are lucky to have lots of fish oil, which has vitamin D as well as A, but maybe osteoporosis has risen due to the abandon of traditional foods consumption by the population in favor of modern nutrient empty foods. In fact, this is probably the cause of osteoporosis worldwide.

  • she doesn't offer an alternative :(

pros and cons with soy milk? anybody?

    D:

  • she did offer an alternative: unpasturized, unhomogenized "raw" milk. it may be difficult to find depending on where you live, check it out on google. as for "soymilk", it's not good, especially if you're talking about sugar beverages like "Silk". unfermented soybeans in any form are not good, and adding sugar and carageenan and other addatives to them makes them even worse.

  • I just started getting access to Jersey Cows "raw" milk. It tastes so good...it doesn't have that filmy milk after effect that I thought was normal with milk. I love getting nutrients and not antibiotics in my cereal. realmilk (dot) com

  • cow breast milk is best for new cows, who DOUBLE their weight in ~1.5 months.

Human breast milk is best for new humans! Since I'm no longer a baby, I don't drink the breast milk of humans NOR of OTHER SPECIES! I like to stay away from the bodily fluids of other beings.

  • people have been living happily and healthy on milk for millions not thousands but millions of years , if you trace your ansestery you will def find that they were consuming dairy and meat products but now when human health has reached an all time low they blame the foods that mankind has consumed for 99-96% of our existence as appose to the foods that have existed for 1-4% of our existance.

  • If you look at the countries with the highest rates of Breast Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease, and Osteoporosis, the countries displayed are also the biggest consumers of dairy Finland,Norway,Sweden,Denmark,United States..

And if you are comparing occasional milk and meat of many years ago to milk & meat now from Factory Farms with ecoli, Mad Cow &other diseases assoc, hormones and antibiotics put into these animals, high levels of pesticides in their systems from the feed-hardly the same thing.

  • I totally agree , thats why people need to get back to feeding animals the foods they were meant to eat , conventional dairy farms feed cows on anything from soy to corn to meat! thats why the cows are so sick and need antibiotics all the time . But milk from a healthy grass feed cow is not only highly nutritious but has even been documented to cure and treat ailments , anything from autoimmune disorders to diabetes. Leave things the way nature intended , that is the only way to go.

  • Compared to the current way of doing things, this would be MUCH better for the animals, the environment, and slightly better for humans. Breast milk is made by pregnant/post gestational females to feed to their babies.

Human breast milk was good for me when I was a baby, cow breast milk is good for the calf. How is keeping a cow pregnant and stealing the milk for her calf--to feed this body fluid to humans, a natural thing? I'll pass on the bodily fluids of cows and other species thanks.

  • CLA which has been dubbed a 'super fat' is found nearly 500 times more in grass fed cattle as oppose to grain feed cattle. plus unless they is a demand for veal (yuck) no farmer would jeopardize the health of the calf just to give some Colostrum which is the 'first milk'

The cow later produces regular milk which will actually dry up if she is impregnated 90 days afterwards or if she is no longer being 'milked' whether by the farmer or the calf.

  • Milk Cow Share Program starting in NW Illinois.Cow are Pastured, grass fed,no BGH or antibiotics,No pesticides.Shareholders get about 1 gallon of Raw milk per week.Contact me for details. Thanks

  • I grew up and currently work on a dairy in New Mexico. Let me just say that milk is nutritous and healthy regardless of what this video says. You get your protein, fat, vitamins, and nutrients all in a glass of wholesome milk. Pastuerization does not rid the milk of its vitamins and nutrients. If this was true then we would probably be eating all of our food raw.

  • "Pastuerization does not rid the milk of its vitamins and nutrients"

    yes it does.

  • From now I only drink Coke

  • What many people dont know is that that corporate dairy which uses MONSANTO rBGH must also use everytype of antibiotic known to combat rBGH mastitis udder and hoove infections and even the illegal LS-50 which is commonly found and goes un-altered in the milk and meat. This milk and meat is highly carcinogenic to glandular organs i.e. breast/prostate in humans.

    Google: Rense LS-50.

  • People People! She is absolutly correct. Milk is highly promoted through the dairy industry. We do not need it like they say. I do say if you have to and no access to farm milk do organic at least it's a bit better. Pasturization does not help us. Just do better farming practises and get back to the real life. Years people lived on the REAL MILK.

  • What is a city dweller like myself to do for milk then?

  • If you are an adult, then you are too old for milk. Milk is for babies.

  • what about calcium..milk has a lot of it, but coronary artery plaque is also made up of it?

  • You can find better sources of calcium than milk very easily. Calium is in plaque - it does not cause plaque. A calcium deficiency is not going to improve your health. You should be more concerned about getting enough Vit C, magnesium, sulfer, and B17.

  • thanks mate.

  • i'm pretty sure the only place you'd find raw milk is if you lived on a farm. this woman is ridiculous. she calls pasteurized milk toxic. ok pastuerizing milk is essential to ensure that the stuff we drink is safe and won't cause bacterial infections

  • My neighbor has a few goats for milk and chickens for eggs. He just runs it through a coffee filter. It tastes great and it isn't pink. Running a 5 to 10 volt positively offset square wave current with a frequency between 10 and 500,000 Hz for seven minutes through it will kill any bacteria that might concern you.

  • that's very interesting. i've never heard of using waves to kill bacteria.

  • milk sucks!

  • how about NO milk?

  • I agree with you, thank you Dr.!

No milk from me, especially from grain fed cows. Cows are supposed to eat grass grass grass.

If you want real calcium, eat green leafy vegetables like Kale.

    I have a great recipe!

  • you are full of bullshit. For one there is absolutely no pesticides or antibiodics or anything in the milk,by law. also there is no proven evidence that hormones are effecting humans and milk is extremely healthy for you and that is why its in the food pyramid

  • YOU are totaly wrong and Dr. Pearsall is absolutely right. I know.

    Hans - in Stockholm, Sweden

  • WRONG!!! But don't let that stop you from drinking it. The reason it is the food pyramind is because it is a food. Food can be contaminated It is not in the food pyramid because it is impossible for it to become contaminated. Did you really mean to say, "It is in the food pyramid because it is not contaminated"? Give me a break.

  • (Part2: )

    > 90 % of soy production is for feeding meat & dairy animals - conventional, which is what majority of people buy.

Animal products is what kills rain forests - and you can figure this out simply by considering laws of thermodynamics. "Conversion" of plants into animal products is accompanied by energy loss.

  • Actually, it is the "slash and burn" agricultural practice taught to the native people of South America and lumber clear cutting that is destroying the rain forest. Thermodynamics applies to forms of energy, but you are right that it is wasteful to raise cattle for food. By the way, they feed chicken shit to cows and chicken blood to calves. That is not a joke, and it is really gross.

  • well, since they feed ground sheep guts to sheep (making forced carnivores and even cannibals out of pure herbivores), I have no problems believing that...

  • It would be better if you didn't believe me. What I wish people would do is check the facts for themselves and believe their own eyes. That is the only thing you can really trust, but I appreciate that you didn't dismiss it for sounding unpleasant like most people do everything.

  • hamberlin:

    (Part1: )

you're bullshitting and you know it.

what do you do with cows once they can't give enough milk to be profitable anymore? you kill them.

deforestation because of people switching to soy? good joke!

  • no she isnt bull shitting you i guess your one of the blind ones truth is truth

  • No. Old dairy cows retire at McDonald's. Wait. That isn't Old McDonald is it?! They go to McDonald's restraunt though. Um, I'm not what happens after that. Never mind.

  • just milk or all dairy products?

  • You make some interesting comments regarding pasteurized vs unpast. milk. My question is,if you can't buy raw milk, (it is illegal in Canada and many states) are you recommending to avoid milk entirely? It seems to me that also involves health risks.

  • I know you don't need milk after a certain age.

besides we werent made to live off milk... you

can find other sources of food that provide the

same nutitional value as milk... right? o_O

  • such as?

  • i suppose other foods that contian calcium like needed for strong bones, is found in dark green leafy vegetables, tofu made with calcium sulfate, calcium-fortified soy milk and orange juice. I personally like milk though and even though i'd love to be vegan one day because i don't like hurting those poor animals.. i find it hard living in a large family.

    -val

  • I am a dairy farmer (organic) primarily because I love working with cows. I don't like "hurting those poor animals" either so I care for them to the best of my ability. By the way, if everyone switched to soy products, you'd see deforestation and environmental degradation on a massive scale, especially in South America. Bye, bye Amazon.

  • I don't think everyone should drink soy. I "personally" think that milk is healthy for you. And i'm sure most people that don't drink milk because they don't want to hurt the animals do so because they've seen the PETA videos of the industrial-milk farms and don't want any part in hurting them. PETA doesn't give good attention to organic milk farms either and makes compasionate dairy framers look bad. I suppose its hard to seperate the humane and the inhumane sometimes.

  • That's very very insightful... >_<

but how can we eat cereal, I really want

to stop drinking milk now, but cereal

is well... SO GOOOD! >_< DOH!

  • You could drink Organic SoyMilk Like I do!

OK OK I know... But hey I am from California so SHHHHHHUSH and no picking on me =)

  • I love organic soy milk!

    but it's expensive and

we are a big family... 8(

  • Check out RealMilk dot org

  • Put a price limit on your car or house or the clothes you wear. Don't put a price your childrens' health. What they eat while the are growing will influence their quality of life in adulthood. What people eat and drink matters more than anything.

  • There is nothing wrong with eating dry cereal. I eat all of my cereal straight from the box and it is delicious. You are just used to pouring milk on it is all. That isn't what makes it edible. It is better without milk. Store bought milk is disgusting.
