i had all the blood tests for 2 years until I found a dr. (a dr. of pharmacology, not MD!!) who said to test reverse t3. mine was was higher than normal, also my cortisol levels were reversed (adrenal fatigue). prescribed bio-identical t3 and cortisol (not on the cortisol any more), it's taken some time but I'm soooo much better that I was. 99% of doctors are clueless unless it's something the drug companies push.
he is correct that thyroid dysfunction produces fibromyalgia, and that usual medical tests usually fail to identify the problem. he fails however, to mention that nerve interference to the thyroid is usually the main source of the problem.
It sounds like Dr. Hotze knows his stuff. I have tried everything including: synthroid, cytomel, and testosterone administered by my old Endo. Needless to say never started feeling better only lost some weight. After
three years, my blood test say I'm fine but, I still feel like shit and I'm only 31 and a active male.
I'm going to give bioidentical Hrt a try I figure it's my last hope. I have an appointment with one of Dr Hotze's dr's in a couple of days.
he is right about what happens if you fall within the normal range docs should treat the symptoms and not rely on lab tests to treat patients the piece at the end is just a rant.
Its important to note that CBS aired a retraction segment of this entire interview after getting a scathing letter from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. That letter pointed out this man's many disturbing claims, errors in scientific facts and insults to legitimate doctors who investigate thyroid conditions.
The letter and retraction segment clip can be found by doing a search on this subject.
I just received an email from Dr. Hotze promoting support for ENRON conservative goals in Texas. I seems to me that he uses the same huckster tactic in supporting politics as he does in medicine. NO MORE SNAKE OIL SALESMEN.
