Huge investment but it pays off: a museum with some rare display brings people in from all over the world and enriches the country it is in, employs specialized staff, teaches students and inspires future works of art. I can't see myself criticizing the initiative except to say it should have been done earlier. If it's islamic, muslim or arabic makes no difference to me.

Arabs of the Gulf do live in the here and now. Qataris have an awesome literacy rate, with women being slightly. Kalifa al Thani fostered enormous change in Qatar without shedding blood. Qatar is an incredible beacon for the Gulf. Art & politics are known to go hand in hand. Life is about balance. All nationalities of the Gulf region are concerned about stability & progress but there must also be proliferation of culture. It promotes pride & education which improve relations within & abroad.
