  • He gets kudos for training through that shit song...

  • To all the idiots saying the squat was high: this is a powerlifting squat, not an olympic squat, so the stance is MUCH wider, and this means that the thighs go parallel instead of much lower like they would with olympic squats.

  • Have you tried box squats as a method for training for depth - I love them. I'm training for a competition now. I couldn't get anywhere near depth with a regular squat last week (suit btms and belt only -straps down) but set a box up just on parallel tonight and got much lower. next week i'll set the box below parallel. In the meantime you get used to getting lower. May all your lights be white!

  • @ntjnssntjnss1

9 = RPE (Rate of perceived exertion) on a scale of 1-10.

  • excellent squat. one of the best squats i have seen on youtube in fact. fantastic form and depth for that weight.

  • awsome liting man, thats crazy ass weight!

  • What does a squat suit do? Does it allow you to do more weight like the bench suit?

  • damn I wish I could lift enough weight to make the bar bend

  • Dang~! Mike , you making it look easy!

  • this is an excellent squat. most DO NOT understand powerlifting training, just bodybuilding. Great show Mike!

  • what kind of shoes were you wearing?

  • THAT BAR FUCKING BENT LIKE MY FLACCID COCK

  • the music really helps you get your blood pumping!

  • Nice!

  • maybe a touch high but i don't really care to much about that still very good squats with a lot more weight then 90% of the world can lift

  • @nugg416 u mean 99.999999 precent of the world's population couldnt do that lol

  • Beast!!!!! People this is how to squat, write in stone!

  • If you did that for two listening to sinead o'connor, "nothing compares to you", I'ld love to see what you squat while listening to Metalica!

  • Nice squatting man. Huge weights and honestly, I would have passed them. I could barely tell they were high at all if they even were.

  • ALL the flowers thatchya planted momma!..... in the backyard.....all died and withered away......

  • Do you bring your own bar in or do you just hope the gym bar will hold up?

  • wtf did I just watch?

  • now thats how you squat dam good

  • lol im 14 and i sqaut 300x12 so im on my way lol

  • @xXRaJuNxCaJuNXx Maybe you squat 300 x 12 but 900 pounds you wouldn´t squat

  • @7urb0m4n Or maybe he's just full of shit. Period.

  • @xXRaJuNxCaJuNXx Not bad but im 12 and i squat 500 for 15 warmup and then i do singles with 1000 pound

  • @muzimuzi Lol yea yea u think im the youtube kid who thinks he can bench 15205266lbs.....im not.

  • @muzimuzi bull tits

  • that was great. good use of your body's kinetic chain

  • I don't know how you can put together those crazy totals, training with this kind of music or dead silence in your other videos. great lift mike.

  • whether it was high or not and if you read the description you would know he knows the depth he went. On that note i'd like to see anyone of you grow a pair and slap 900 on a bar to squat for not 1 but 2 reps... high or not much respect to the man who can achieve this level of training without a beer gut the size of a semi's gas tank

  • Totally awesome. Horns up, brother!

  • fair play, even though its a powerflifting squat, still alota weight

  • DAM GOOD

  • What the fuck? Great depth, bar flopping around like it's made of jello and a walkout? Let me guess, that's a single ply suit as well. Shit is crazy man. What are you? A 242?

  • i know u have the catcher bars up but with 900lbs i would still use some spotters, otherwise very well done crazy strong!!!

  • Looked pretty deep to me, I can't even imagine trying to hold up 900 lbs., much less trying to squat it. Good inspiration though, I like your vids. I subbed, so I hope the vids keep coming :D

  • dude this is incredible, mad props

  • if this is real you are fuking insane

  • Sick squat man... the depth was there.

P.s. the music you had playing is for sex, not weight lifting xD

  • bet you feel like a monster when you put the bar back on the rack

  • Good form, good lift. Your first rep was parallel, your 2nd rep MIGHT'VE been a tad high, but it's hard to tell. Good job.

  • Saftey rack or no it takes BALLS to squat 900 with no spotters

  • it takes balls just to squat 900 pounds at all.

  • good job. but you got some guts putting 900 on a rack like that lol. looks too sketchy for me.

  • @linemen77 i thought the same thing. it looks like its out of the argos.

  • nice lift! looked a little shallow from the angle. but still a great lift.

  • Anyone who doubles 900 with sinaid oconner playing is Crazy!!!

  • Horribly inappropriate music in background but damn good squat. Pretty sick how the bar flops around like it's made of rubber tho

  • I think you could have gotten at least one more rep if it wasn't for that song.

  • @nyobsessed lol

  • @nyobsessed No shit! Is that sinead oconnor?

  • What a fucking beast!

  • the music in the background :D

Nice Squat .. "if it doesn't hurt, it doesn't work" :D

  • Great squat. I think that some of these people don't know who you are, or that you have competed at the level you have. The second one looked good to me. It seems like you are always alone in your videos. I can't imagine what it would be like if you had a better training situation.

  • I'm never alone. :)

  • Psalms 23; 4

  • @Power275

    hahahah nice..!!!

  • @Power275 Good answer!

  • @usurper213 I completely agree. I question whether or not the weight is really that much. If this guy is really lifting that much, why isn't he power lifting and setting records?

  • @caesarboxing He is competing. His name is Micheal Tuchscherer and he has gone to the IPF worlds several times. He is one of the top lifters in the world right now.

  • A little high. However, everybody I know (including me) would be crushed just standing beneath the weight. Great job!

  • bloody impressive, perfect, depth looked good to me and im harsh!

  • wow

  • it doesn't get much better than adrenaline pumping workout music

  • my only comment is to keep driving those knees out

    Great lift dude

    ps. love the workout music

  • two whites if one of the judges is asleep... but the strength is there!!!!

  • HUGE

    FUCKING

    SQUAT

  • You have awesome strengh. Your squats were a fraction below parallel. In many federations, ie APF - 3 white lights. USAPL - forget it, they want your backend touching the floor. Consider doing a quick utube search for,,,, squat precision,,, where detecting perfect, legal, squat depth for ANY federation has now become a science . I agree with adogruzza, that deep squats will build solid strength, but detecting exact required depth is a must for your highest, single squat in a meet.

  • IF it was high, it was a trivial amount. unreal strength.

  • Sorry dont want to be unpolite. I explain myselft better (in my best english):

as many i've seen many of your video, And too frequently i saw you using in training too high (more than your best in competition) weight without correct tech.

I simply think that you are a great talent, for sure better than Shepil, but you need to do everything perfect, more simple, lower intensity (a lot) and go deeper in squat.

That's my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

  • I think you're right to a large extent. I'm working on getting better depth in training (some recent videos illustrate this). There's plenty of strength there -- I just need to be a little more consistent than I have been.

    Thanks for the explanation!

  • There's an old saying: practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.

No doubt you can hit 900+ in competition, but you might hose yourself by training your body to stop early when under such heavy poundages. Instead of worrying now about hitting that PR, get it to be second nature to hit substantial depth, that way on the platform you don't have to worry about it.

  • @adogruzza

Pause the clip at the bottom of the lift.....He appears to hit good depth.

The camera angle makes the squat seem high.

  • high

  • I really wish you guys would read my comments before wasting your time.

  • nothing compares to you, haha

  • superb lift, really nice form

  • Who doesnt lift to Sinead O'Connor

  • get the f***K outta here

  • Wow nice lift.

  • Nice squats.

  • STRONG!

    THE Squat! ;-)

  • Awesome,strong ass squats.

  • amazing amazing amazing

  • you seem pretty parallel but I could be wrong. what federation do you compete in?

  • It seens to me if you can do 900lbs squats for 2,you already had hit the 1000lbs mark don't you?

  • Outstanding squat, you got some future man congrats!

  • Congratulatiopns on the silver medal! Sorry you didn't get the gold.

  • What's with the hardcore squat music?

  • What Sinead O'Connor's not on your playlist?

  • Mike,

They look much better than any of the squats you did before St Louis. Nice Shoes!!

I think you should make the 3rd attempt a little higher.

  • Mike thank for the vid

i'm like you have no spotters to help me and have to do also alone on the rack, see you lifting inspires me, and now i'm going to continue training hard to do 700 to set the 275 brazilian junior record.

    Good luck at worlds

  • Good luck! Don't let people who say, "you can only succeed with training partners" discourage you. It definately can be done without them. Just train smart, train hard, and train safe. You'll be better off and once you get to the meet, it'll be just like another training day! Good luck and God bless!

  • How can you be comfortable squatting that much weight with no spotters whatsoever?

  • I am driven to be the best powerlifter I can be. I also am in a situation that makes it impossible for me to have good spotters many times. It's out of necessity. Also, I've been doing it this way a long time. I set the pins in the rack to where I can dump it if I need to. Same with benching (which is much more dangerous).

  • great this is my competition for nationals next year....please tell me your gonna be 24 by next years nationals, so i have a chance at the junior title hahaha!!!!!

  • Looking strong!!!! Good luck at Worlds!!!

  • STRONG! Way to go Mike!

  • awesome!! i guess that many in your family verys strong by nature, you are genetically blessed

  • It's true that I am very blessed. But don't use genetics as an excuse. I've had to work very hard and very smart to get where I am today, both physically and mentally. Also, There are no other powerlifters in my family.

  • even though I think the single ply feds are a bit silly..... this has to be one of the most impressive videos I've seen posted in a long long time........

  • A couple other questions. I notice you use standard clips and not collars to hold the weight on. Are you concerned with that kind of weight, and with the bar sagging that much, that the clips might come off? I really wouldn't want 900 pounds on my back and all of a sudden lose the clip.

Also, I notice you are almost out of room on the bar. Many of the bars out there are not long enough for the kind of weight you are using. Do you train with an IPF-approved bar?

    Thanks for posting!

  • The clips I use are pretty grabby. They don't slide even a little bit, so I doubt they'd go all at once.

I'm using a Texas Power Bar right now. I'll start using my Q-Bar when I move to my garage gym.

  • ROFL! That is some estrogenically charged listening tunes thre, bro. Put some death metal on and go slam 1000 for a duece. Great work!

  • that is just sick lifting!

  • Simply Amazing, just to walk out with 900 lb is impressive enough not to mention with Sinead O'Connor in the background, God bless bro

  • Awesome Job Mike!!!

  • wow!

  • wow in such an enviroment no spotters no motivation ...great effort man

  • sick weight

  • The music got me pumped

  • insane.... great vids man.

i need to do that at 160 lb bodyweight so i can have a 70 inch vertical.

    peace

  • I especially liked the ass-kickin' thrash metal music they play at your gym. Or was that Sinead O'Connor?!?

Awesome job. Now I am going to go crank Nothing Compares 2U and put down 900 pounds! Will have to put "We Are the World" on my bench press mix to bust through my training plateau...

Seriously, awesome job. Go show the Russians what drug-free powerlifting is all about.

  • Nice work. Looked plenty deep.

  • It doesn't just look good

    It IS good!

  • That a kid!

  • How's training going, man? I'm starting to really looking forward to the meet -- and getting to hang out with all the guys, too.
