  • Wonderful posting and great to see young kids keeping this alive - thanks.

  • love it

  • good job ladies !! and you do know that we Americans owe our clog dance to the people from across the pond :) orignially Irish I beleive :) good interpretation !!!

  • Interesting. This still looks very irish to me, not much free footing, but I like it.

  • Hi, how do you know Rough Diamond

  • So - the dancing originated in the British Isles & Southern Ireland, travelled to America with the emigrants, evolved - and now it seems to have returned home in a small kind of way. Fascinating.

  • @TheAnn2shoes

same with Sinterklaas and your Santa Claus:

Sinterklaas (Saint Nicolas) brings dutch children presents on dec 5th. He finds his way to the US as Santa Claus and now Santa is known as Kerstman (litteraly: Christmas-man) in the Netherlands and Belgium!

this style of dancing is very popular in 'rural' european 'hick' communities i guess some things never change

  • I think Jesco White should start touring to these festivals. Old folk dancing to roots music is an art form that should never be allowed to perish, and Jesco is pretty much the last Appalachian tap dancer that dances to bluegrass out there. It's a skill I definitely want to learn.

  • Omg ! xxx

  • interesting attempt at Appalachian culture. Cute =)

  • Good to see how the Brits interpret Appallachian music...not bad. Thanks. An old hillybilly from West (by gad) Virginia.

  • Its kinda funny how people that aren't from the Appalachians usaually say Appalachians with an A as in ape for the middle A, and people like us that are from here say it Appalatchians

  • what's the tune at 1:32 ?

    can anyone tell me??

  • oh noooo! right off the bat! it's appaLATCHian haha. i'm just kidding. looks great.

  • Not bad, for foreigners ;-)

  • Well some live in Devon, some live in Somerset, and this was 'over the border' in Dorset so I guess, in a sense, they were all 'foreigners' from adjacent counties in the south west UK :)

  • Ha, what I meant was foreigners, as in British, not American!

Nice to see American Appalachian culture in UK. Well done!

  • yes, its huge here!

  • Well it originated here, so I guess you could say it's come full circle!

  • @ajdown where step dancing in the States came from... all the British immigrants! :D

  • Well done girls, and I thought I was the only Bluegrasser in Somerset. Great stuff...Educate the masses. Mark Weston-s-Mare

  • Love the music, dancing was nice but video quality was bad otherwise 4 stars.

  • First day out with a new digital camera that had a video mode, and it was more 'lets see what it does' - sorry for the low quality but I'm glad you enjoyed it otherwise :)
