  • gnarly

  • great...thanx =)

  • @BlacktipH

As big as possible with the bait I use which is mostly whole mullet or sometimes lady fish.

  • @I3R0NS0N

You can probably catch an 8 footer with that reel.

  • The biggest reel I currently own is a penn senator 6/0 with upgraded HT-100 drags. Will this be good enough to catch shark from beach or somewhere like the skyway fishing piers, thx.

  • @I3R0NS0N

What size sharks are you going after?

  • how do you get the bait out to sea and how far do u take it

  • @macasdude

We use a kayak and we take the baits out between 150-350yds.

  • those are some big hooks

  • @cuy7115 big hooks for big fish

  • @cuy7115 Not really look at his bait!!!

  • What is this? A baby shark head or something ?

  • @MrAUFANATIC

    A bonito.

  • @BlacktipH I'm going shark fishing this weekend in Flordia, and I went off and bought me some 30lb test line and a metal leader. Well this be good enough for me to use or should I get bigger line?

  • @MrSnackization

I would get bigger line. Try some 65lb braid.

  • @BlacktipH Well i'm not really trying to go after the 7ft sharks either.

  • @MrSnackization

What are you trying to catch?

  • Comment removed

  • @BlacktipH White Tip sharks. Also,I got a question why do most anglers use rocks as weight? woun't that damage the line?

  • @MrSnackization

We want the rock to break off. We use rocks because they are free and we don't care if we lose them.

  • did you end up catching anything after tis video?

  • @ruddert1112

    We caught a tiger shark.

  • 8 foot hammers have been reeled in on a squidder IV seen it done pretty crazy huh wit 25lb test wit lady fish as bait but I got a question will the brick break away off that leader when you reel in the bait to put new bait on several hours later?

  • @OGsaintCC

Most of the time it breaks off, sometimes it doesn't break.

  • Any ideas where i can get my hands on bonitos , i dont own a boat so i cant go fish them, im tierd of using jacks as bait :(

  • @XN1ckXArgentinoX

I buy them from charter boats.

  • like if you got that add with drugs

  • are lady fish good bait? or pin fish?

  • @daniel123s1ckstuffz

Ladyfish are good bait, pinfish are too small.

  • You can also try putting the one hook between the bonies eyes, on the top of the head, with the eye of the hooking face the back of the head. You can then thread a zip tie through the eyes and tie the hook down with the zip tie. The second hook can go in the flesh of the back, also with the eye facing back wards. You can secure the second hook more firmly with a toothpick(The ones with the little beads on the end). That way, your hooks can stay in line, but they stand proud of the mean!!

  • a 9/0 with the right line will catch any fish offshore but when your fishing from thee beach you need more drag power for the really big sharks

  • do you think the penn senator 9/0 is capable of baits like that ill be after tiger shark up to 10ft

  • @tonyel120

I would recommend a minimum of a 12/0, but a 9/0 might work. A 9/0 really doesn't have a lot of drag power to stop a big fish. You need lots of drag power to land a big fish. You should be able to land a 10ft tiger on a 9/0, but if you hook a big hammer, you will mostly likely get spooled.

  • @BlacktipH ok thanks

  • Lol I think it is funny because the size of bait you use is the same size of fish I usally catch.

  • What species are you trying to catch. 40 lb test with 7 lb bait. Yea right. Buy 80 lb braid and 150 lb wire leader.

  • @Imazor12345

With this size bait, the intended shark species are Hammerheads, Bulls, and Tigers. This is not for fishing blacktips or small infant species.

  • Hi BlacktipH, I would like an answer as soon as possible, if possible :]... I am going fishing on the Ocean Beach Pier in San Diego, California, and I wanted to know if you know anything about Ocean Beach and tell me weather or not it is a nice shark spot. Thanks! Liked and Subbed. :]

  • @ThatBoiCam1

I have never fished on the West Coast before, so I really can't be of much help, sorry.

  • @BlacktipH Oh. Well that's ok, you still have great videos so maybe ill learn a thing or two from them. Thanks! (:

  • LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! i live in denmark i really want to fish but i when i fish in the danish oceans i never catch anything big becouse of the seas here

  • @elfolomoment

Thank you, my family is from Copenhagen.

  • @BlacktipH thats awesome :)

  • if you got a big enough shark, youd get that liter shredded wouldnt you

  • @fishsanibelrfm

Nope, that's two strands of #19 wire, I haven't had it get kinked yet.

  • i use a 16oz sinker on the main line and i put the circle hook through both the bottom and top jaws

  • @curtgowdysharkhunter

With hard boned fish like bonito, that technique can make it difficult to get a solid hookset. I like to place the hook in a spot where the hook can tear out of the bait. The gill plates are hard, but will rip when you set the hook. It's very difficult to rip the jaw bone.

  • @BlacktipH bontos jaws are hard but i usually use boston mackeral or bluefish there jaw ia hard but not to hard

  • Question are those double hook liters used to hook two baits? Or just how you did it on your video only?

  • @MikeXMR

    It's design for one bait.

  • have you ever been attacked or biten by a shark?

  • @rockStarworld99

I have been bitten by a shark once in the hand when removing the hook.

  • what kind of fish head is that???

  • @MICtheGUITARIST96

    bonito

  • I'm on my phone so I couldn't reply to your comment, but I am willing to spend up to about 150$, maybe a little bit more. Also how many yards of what pound mono shock leader should I use for these 6 to 7 foot sharks? Will I still be able to cast it ok with the leader?

  • @StanleyTheOscar

I wouldn't use a shock leader. Just make your leader 7ft and you will be fine. If your not casting, then a shock leader will work. I would save your $150 for a quality "bait rod" or "long casting rod". You will probably spend $300 on one that will last a while. One thing I have learned about buying fishing gear, the cheaper it is, the more likely a big fish will break it.

  • @BlacktipH Ok I went to bass pro and had the guy order me a Fin-Nor OFS95, thinking about spooling it with 80lb. braid... I already have a quality medium action rod. I have a Shimano Calcutta 200B with a 7ft St. Croix Med-Heavy action rod and I also have a Daiwa Coastal with a 7ft. Abu Garcia Veritas Med-Heavy rod. I was wondering about what pole to pair with the Fin-Nor, not for light surf fishing. The guy at bass pro recommended a 7ft. Ugly Stick, what do you think will get the trick done?

  • @StanleyTheOscar

Are you planning to surf fish with a 7ft pole?

  • @BlacktipH Yea, I've caught all of my sharks so far about 40 yards off of the beach. I used to swim my bait out and drop it because I had a conventional reel

  • @StanleyTheOscar

You won't be able to cast a 7ft shark rig on that 7ft shark rod very far. You will need a surf rod at least 11ft to get good distance.

  • @BlacktipH I know that, I wanted you to suggest a few surf rods for me. Maybe ones I could get from bass pro shops... The problem is not many surf rods are made for shark fishing, all of the ones I've looked at would break in half if I even had a small spinner shark on

  • Hey I've commented on your videos lately, but I just had another question... Will a tarpon take a bait with wire on it? I want to use live mullet for tarpon and I think they'll see the wire but I don't want to break off if I get a shark... Also, I have a Penn 65 Long Beach (my great grandpa's reel) spooled with 300 yards of 80lb suffix braid, 20ft of 100lb mono shock leader, and 3ft of #12 AFW. Any chance that a shark can actually spool me? I'm in Naples, FL. Fishing the Gulf of Mexico. Thanks!

  • @StanleyTheOscar

Tarpon will hit wire. They are scrap eaters and will literary eat anything. Yes a big shark will spool that reel. I have had 6ft blacktips pull off close to 400yds of line on my Fin-Nor OS9500

  • @BlacktipH Thanks... how much line does that Fin-Nor fit? And how far do you usually have your bait out when you're using that setup?

  • @StanleyTheOscar

I don't use my Fin-Nor for this rig setup. I use my leverdrag reels (that have 1000yds of line). I use my Fin-Nor for casting baits. It holds a little more than 550yds of 65lb braid.

  • @BlacktipH Well I took your advice and I was looking at getting a setup kind of like yours... I want to get the Fin-Nor OFS85 or OFS95, which would be better for fishing in the surf for 6-7 foot blacktips, hammers, or bulls. I'm not trying to catch those massive tigers or 11 foot hammers, just some decent sized sharks or tarpon. I was also wondering what surf rod you would recommend to go with it that can cast far and handle these sharks, but is not too expensive. Thanks for the help!

  • @StanleyTheOscar

I would go with the OFS95, more line is always better. For the set-up that can cast far, how much are you willing to spend on it?

  • what cw have your rod? 2kg?hahaha

  • @andrikosisfishing

cw? What are you referring to?

  • @BlacktipH

the casting weit ...how much gr can throw

  • @andrikosisfishing

The bait and rig used in this video is not for casting. Its for taking out with a kayak or watercraft. When I cast, I use much smaller baits with a 6oz pyramid sinker.

  • @BlacktipH

    ok thx!

  • ITS CALL A FISHING ROD BUDDY

  • @S73BAN

What kind of sharks are you catching?

  • How do you tie a double hook rig?

  • @icydragon542

I am making a video of that right now. It will be up soon. Stay tuned...

  • what part of forida are you in? I have relatives in Fort myers beach.

  • @DOctERSWagGEr

I am on the other coast.

  • Hey brother, excellent vid. I have a stupid question from another Floridian who has never shark fished - the brick you tied to the bait - is that essentially a poor-man's sinker? I mean, just tied on to help suspend the bait and keep it from drifting over the bottom? If so, how do you actually cast with it?

  • @XeroJaeger

The bait will sit on the bottom with the brick. The brick is to keep the bait in one spot. If you don't use a heavy rock, big waves or a strong current will wash the bait ashore. I like to use rocks between 8-10lbs. Also, your line creates a bow in the surf and if you don't have a heavy rock, your bait will move with the current. The farther you go out, the larger the bow in the line.

  • @BlacktipH i drilled a hole in an old 8 ball..

  • @XeroJaeger

he doesn't cast that big bait with this 5 kgs brick of course !!

if u want to do it that way then u have to kayak it.

u would never eve be able to cast all that no way man.

  • Just curious, how much money do you get a month for the pop-up ads before the vid plays?

  • @turkeydick1

It's different every month. It's not enough to make a living.

  • I always hook my bait through the eyes unless its a giant bait like a amberjack head then i go through the bottom lip, where abouts are you located??

  • @nlancaste

Florida. I like to keep the hooks in a spot where they will rip out easily when I set the hook. Sometimes they pick up the bait and just swim with it in their mouth. If the hook is buried too deep, you might pull the bait out of the sharks mouth without getting a good hook-set.

  • im new how do u get Youtube HD? plz comment back

  • @TheSandi78

Anyone can upload an HD video, just use the upload bottom at the top of your screen, next to browse.

  • OH NO, ITS THE REPORTER FISH FROM SPONGEBOB!!!!!

  • How do you cast it?!

  • @FT86TT

You don't, this bait needs to be deployed by either a kayak or surfboard.

  • Comment removed

  • @BlacktipH Thanks for the quick reply!

one last question...I'm planning to get a Breakaway HDX rod and looking for a good spinner surf reel to get...Now I have read that you use a Fin-Nor OS 9500 and also read on some forums that you recommend this over to a Daiwa Emcast due to the line capacity...but in terms of castability/distance which one would you pick?

P.S: is the OS 9500 and the OF 9500 the same? Because I couldn't find the OS 9500 for sale anymore :(

    Hope to fish in clearwater

  • @FT86TT

When you're casting 7ft shark rigs, it really doesn't matter. I can cast my Fin-Nor 50yds. The OS stands for OffShore, they still make that reel.

  • how do you get your bonitos.what bait do you use

  • @ijoj1

I buy them, but you can catch them offshore with sardines.

  • Do you prefer haywire twists instead of using crimps? I use crimps on terminal tackle, and knots to connect shock leader to running line.

Also with the 7 foot of breakaway line used to attach the brick, does that line ever get wrapped around your running line, or do you drop it in a way that prevents tangling?

  • @CoachTom17

I always use haywire twists with single strand wire. When I drop the bait, I put the bait in the water first and let it drag until the breakway line is straight, and then I place the rock in the water.

  • would'nt the rock weakin the line, that could be a major no no if you hook a 20 or 30 pounder shark or something else.

  • @MrSnackization

The rig above is not meant for sharks under 6ft. The rig above is for big sharks 8ft+

  • Do you use 2 hooks in all baits? And never a weight attached? Always a brick? We've been useing 1 hook and a homemade spider weight.... Seems to work but we do miss fish. I'm gonna build a new leader right now!!! LOL, surf too rough last weekend, dirty water, even the jet ski had a hard time... great vid thanks!

    D

  • @dnahoghunter

I like to use big baits, so I tend to use 2 hooks. I like using rocks because I don't have to pay for them and when they break off, I don't have to worry about replacing them. I use 40lb breakaway line.

  • @BlacktipH I've been molding my own Spider weights.. use a pice of pipe for a mold, cut open on one side...

  • I see the haywire twist for your hook section. Did you haywire twist the section opposite from the hook area? (barrell swivel section)

  • @Penitent1000

All the wire section of my leaders are made with haywire twist. I am going to make a video, showing how to properly make a haywire twist and the rig above.

  • Did you catch any sharks with that bonito (I think Bonito)?

  • @Italianboy196

Yup, I actually caught a 6ft Tiger with that bait.

  • cool video i liked it

  • r u being afttected by the oil at all

  • @quaddude2501

Not that I know of, how about you?

  • @BlacktipH not at all....im farther up the east coast in Ocean City MD...im hoping the hurricanes dont bring it up here and destroy our white marlin indusrty cause thats what we are known for

  • nice video i like it!

  • cool man
