I've been studying English for all my life, but whatever here is my question:
When pronouncing the American r, some people say that the tongue is suppose to touch the top of your mouth, while others clearly states that the tongue is not suppose anything and sort of doing the r sound in the middle. Are there any "correct way" or am I dealing with accents here?
@Bj0k -- I would say that's the general area for the tongue to be when making this sound. As with other difficult sounds, it's learned at an very early age, but that doesn't mean an adult can't learn how to do it. It takes a lot of practice and study. My website has a section for "r" sound exercises. Click on "Pronunciation."
I am brazilian,I can´t speak english very well yet but this video has helped me.I talked to my english teacher yesterday and she told me that I have improved my way of speaking english.everybody needs to watch this video!
