LOL - you got to understand a lot of Latin, which includes Italian, Mediterrean Guys LOVE jewelry.. I sorta wished my man loved jewelry.. I did but he never wore the
simplest things.. When divorced I wanted the gold ring - with cat's eye stone and he said he lost it.. wanted to give it to my son who would have appreciated the ring.
I'm really curious as to how people know that they are lipsynching this song. I know nothing about any of this sort of things so I'm just going by what I see and it looks to me like they're singing. What happens that you people can tell it's not live singing? Besides all that, I love this song. Love songs with alot of percussion. The horns, the drums and the electric sytar all give it such a great beat.
A great song in a minor key, penned by Sonny Bono--- his first minor key composition since "Little Man". This is a lip-sync done against the original release track. Interestingly, for all the trouble it looks as if they went through to produce this visual, the performers are not heard at all in this rendition, which was entirely faked.
I heard this from the movie Blood into Wine, a documentary about wine making in Arizona. This tune was in the intro credits. I had no idea it was Sonny and Cher! Amazing performance. Such a creepy vibe.
I was blown away when the intro came on, this song with the visuals was amazing. and I figured it was some wicked band that had some relation to Puscifer or A Perfect Circle somehow.. but then I saw the end credits and saw it was Sonny and Cher of all people! I never thought I'd see the day that I'd actually loved one of their songs!
Sonny Bono's songs are so underappreciated. He had a great knack for not only writing memorable melodies but also experimenting with different instruments (obo on Little Man, sitar on this one, etc.). Great song!
@elfhermie Could not agree more! Sonny wrote such quirky, memorable songs. He didn't have much of a singing voice, but despite this, he was an oddly effective vocalist. The combination of his voice with Cher's really worked. Sonny knew how to write a beat and a hook, both of which make many of his songs unforgettable.
Бля, Шер, сцуко лучшая...Вот ведь клёвая тёлка...Но надо сказать и муженёк ия первый, Сонни - не х.й с бугра. Накропал её Маленького человека и Ковбойскую работу...Отличная пара.
Cher is the best American female vocalist - ever - maybe along with Kitty Wells, Lynn Anderson or Loretta Lynn - but that CHer lilt makes her more amazing even though there are other opinions , the sitar is spectacular and the music accompaniment is quite pleasant listening
just remember, if not for sonny, Cher would be nothing. He also wrote many other songs for other people and should be recognized in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
This song was popular mainly because of the TV show variety hour. Sonny was a fairly good songwriter but not all that talented a musician. He was a skilled businessman, consider his life he later became a politician. Splitting with Sonny was a good move for Cher career-wise, she was far more talented than Sonny, the two of them were an odd pair in a musical sense.
Probably my favorite Sonny & Cher song after I Got You Babe and the jazzy, always cool The Beat Goes On. Sonny Bono was NOT a singer, but his flat, weirdly nasal voice partnered well with Cher on certain songs and this was one of them. I like the witty lyric also and the music--that wah-wah, the sitar and the drums--are a stand-out. Great clip; thanks for posting it!
Love this song from them I think personally that Sonny lost his touch in the mid 70s with writing songs though this song is good & I like it Watch and look at Sonny pretending to play the guitar while the other guy is playing it LOVE IT
With all due respect to Cher, she had some great songs in the 60s 70s 80s and 90s but this one is a CLUNKER in the 70s..even though it went to # 8 in April of 72
Now that I see it, the lead string instrument played by the guy in the foreground is an electric sitar which was often used in many recordings then. It had a very distinctive sound and was strung in the same way as a standard electric guitar. He's got it going though a wah-wah pedal as well. I always wondered how that voicing was done! It's so great to see this. Thanks again....
The intrument that the guitarist is playing in the video is an electric sitar. The harmonics of the sound we hear doesn't like a guitar to me. But I respect your opinion and I don't debate such matters.
What a fantastic live performance of a fairly involved arrangement that is so faithful to the original recording. Sound quality for television music had greatly improved in a very few years from the way it was even up to the mid-60s. Cher was maybe in her mid to late 20s here. They made some great music together. Thanks so much for posting this.
@TummyLover Yes, it was lovely, but nowadays girls really hurt themselves to be thin. Cher was just beautiful, but she didn't barf to look like that. She was skinny with dignity. Not skinny with anorexia. <3 Cher
@conceitedperson78 I'm sorry, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sence. What difference does it make what generation you're living in? If Cher was naturally skinny then she could be just as naturally skinny now. It's just that now she would be accused of every eating disorder in the book. Now real naturally skinny women feel ashamed to go outside because somebody might make a comment that they should eat a cheeseburger or enroll at Remuda Ranch, so they're out getting breast implants instead.
@TummyLover I was just watching "A Face in the Crowd". A 1950's movie with Andy Griffith before he was sherriff of Mayberry. In it, he fell in love with a baton twirler and had her on his show. Her entire midriff was bare and you could see her entire ribcage. Nobody was rushing her off to the emergency room or protesting the film for a scandelous view of ribs. I'm sick of this shit.
wow. alright. someone loves our little self-destructive, one-size must fit all, magazine and make-up pimpin cultural hegemony. .. btw: who gives a shit about tabloids?
@TummyLover Yes, Twiggy started that vogue. But then (and still in early 1970s, here) was still to follow serial deaths from anorexia, starting with Karen Carpenter.
LOL, yeah you are probably right! But couldn't you see it? Imagine Dr. Phil saying, "You need to quit telling him how short he is, and YOU need to quit making jibes about her nose! LOL You know, all of that was really a part of them having fun and the people loved it!
Look on youtube here and type in sonny bono debate, you will se his true self shine there, althought hes using the wife is sick line it shows what a loser he really is.
sonny is truly a disturbed individual 1:30 in this, look at his face expressions you can tell he thinks very highly of himself , i think hes got no talent and is a miracle he was famous at all i never liked anything he sang or did , im not a hater im just expressing my opinon on him, which unfortunately isnt very high.
Alien: Sonny actually 'owned' alot. He was really more a manager and writer. He wrote songs not only for Cher but also wrote for other groups. He pretty much produced their show. Harmony requires singing talent and training that Sonny and Cher don't possess. They don't know how to harmonize. Cher is a fair singer with a distinctive voice but very narrow range; Sonny should only be singing in the shower or a kareoke bar.
Sonny and Cher were so great. Too bad they divorced. I was young but I remember feeling bad about it. Loved their show, campy but in a good way.. never missed it. Wish i could go back to those days. Better times no doubt.
Except for the chorus & the last line of the song, this one is all Cher! Just an observation I had even back in '72 when this was a hit. They made a great couple!
Number one I love this song and it wants me want to make hot passionate love to my eternal bride when we get married at Wembley Stadium & I want all musicians to come and rejoice our marriage & the love of Jesus & Mary Magdalene & Mohammad & his 12 glorious wives & those of the prophets plus many other people.
Lets make marriage between man and woman hot hot!!!

Sonny and Cher were truly unforgettable! RIP Sonny - you are sorely missed my friend. Kudos to Cher on her Las Vegas engagement.

Don't laugh they had the best band going at that time and that nerdy drummer I THINK is Jeff Porcaro...you know the Porcaro Bros...aka: Toto...

Enjoyable score. The lyrics are a lot of fun to listen too. Both looked really great and seemed to enjoy themselves.

I like the nerdy-looking drummer. That was Snuff Garrett on the guitar.

LMAO this dumb song is stuck in my head! :O There's this video where Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson slaps his butt and dances along with this song . It's a funny scene from his movie Be Cool. Okayz I'm getting off topic....So these two like to jump people's horses? O.o

I feel your pain. The whole time I'm watching the movie I'm saying "Not the people's champ" LOL
