  • justin ! sucks this song !! ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

  • The Best

  • Crazy...I woke up this morning and this song popped into my head for no reason, haven't heard it in years. Cool video. Sonny was such a ham!

  • magnificently ...

  • Sonny needed lessons from Cher for lip-syncing

  • I have always been a closet fan. there was something intriguing about them

  • like anymal :D

  • Oh, replay button, how I miss thee! But 0:00 works too.

  • Sonny was a freakin pimp, look at the rings and watch :)

  • LOL - you got to understand a lot of Latin, which includes Italian, Mediterrean Guys LOVE jewelry.. I sorta wished my man loved jewelry.. I did but he never wore the

simplest things.. When divorced I wanted the gold ring - with cat's eye stone and he said he lost it.. wanted to give it to my son who would have appreciated the ring.

  • Could you get a performance any better than this one?

  • So tell me Sonny is drunk in this. That dude looks completely toasted.

  • @riddler251

    both, i think drunk ...

  • did they write the lyrics? anybody know? and also, are gypsies, tramps, and thieves, and halfbreed theirs originally? correct my ignorance..

  • @emariaban24 yes, Sonny wrote this song. Also, yes, Cher was the first person to sing those songs.

  • @lasktguy much appreciated.

  • wow im in love.

  • Sonny wearing those clog type shoes to make himself taller.

Cher wearing flat shoes to make herself shorter.

  • April 1972.... I remember seeing the show when I was a kid.

  • is that a special kind of guitar hes playing if so whats it called im diggin it

  • @footymaster123456789 it's an electric sitar.

  • she reminds me Katy Perry :D

  • @JohnBaptise oh puhleeze. There's no way to compare the two. Cher's a legend and Katy is a teeny bopper.

  • @JohnBaptise Katy Perry is adorable but Cher was a TRUE original.

  • @kennedynut I've missed the era of Cher, what a shame! Anyway, I see a vague relation between 2 girl, their face maybe... :)

  • I'm really curious as to how people know that they are lipsynching this song. I know nothing about any of this sort of things so I'm just going by what I see and it looks to me like they're singing. What happens that you people can tell it's not live singing? Besides all that, I love this song. Love songs with alot of percussion. The horns, the drums and the electric sytar all give it such a great beat.

  • Since they were lip-syncing, looks like Cher signaled Sonny at 2:40 when to start singing the last line of this song.

  • Very nice! Thanks for posting this. Very enjoyable.

  • A great song in a minor key, penned by Sonny Bono--- his first minor key composition since "Little Man". This is a lip-sync done against the original release track. Interestingly, for all the trouble it looks as if they went through to produce this visual, the performers are not heard at all in this rendition, which was entirely faked.

  • Beautiful!!!!Thanx for posting.

  • You gotta love that wild gay samoan who thinks becomes a star with his eyebrow!... Great Song!

  • Love this song, always have done.

  • nice sounds.

  • blood into wine baby!

  • @theplanet1985 That's why I'm here! Great doc.

  • i want this song to be in a tarantino movie.......dont ask why

  • @bongtoker420 would have fit somewhere in pulp fiction!

  • @bongtoker420 They already used in Be Cool, but it starred Travolta

  • I heard this from the movie Blood into Wine, a documentary about wine making in Arizona. This tune was in the intro credits. I had no idea it was Sonny and Cher! Amazing performance. Such a creepy vibe.

  • @Evological Hahaha that's how I heard it too.

I was blown away when the intro came on, this song with the visuals was amazing. and I figured it was some wicked band that had some relation to Puscifer or A Perfect Circle somehow.. but then I saw the end credits and saw it was Sonny and Cher of all people! I never thought I'd see the day that I'd actually loved one of their songs!

  • @GreatBigSlide

And now that you listen to it, it's totally Cher! Yeah, I thought it was some underground concept band that Maynard knows too :)

  • damn this song is surprisngly awesome. wouldnt think id even like this song to be honest...good job. props to the band

  • @bongtoker420 I think sonny wrote this song

  • Wow, is that the musician she had an affair with behind Sonny's back? lol

  • Heard this song in "Blood Into Wine"

  • @leo206 hahaha me too!!!

  • Cowboy up!

  • And back in the day, noone really cared how fat or skinny she was. We liked them they way they were.

  • And back in the day, noone really cared how fat or skinny she was.

  • powerful , what a team , love it

  • Sonny Bono's songs are so underappreciated. He had a great knack for not only writing memorable melodies but also experimenting with different instruments (obo on Little Man, sitar on this one, etc.). Great song!

  • @elfhermie Could not agree more! Sonny wrote such quirky, memorable songs. He didn't have much of a singing voice, but despite this, he was an oddly effective vocalist. The combination of his voice with Cher's really worked. Sonny knew how to write a beat and a hook, both of which make many of his songs unforgettable.

  • This was my favorite song as a kid.

  • Бля, Шер, сцуко лучшая...Вот ведь клёвая тёлка...Но надо сказать и муженёк ия первый, Сонни - не х.й с бугра. Накропал её Маленького человека и Ковбойскую работу...Отличная пара.

  • who's playing the electric sitar here? it certainly elevates the material

  • Cher looks sooo great here.Love this video.Sonny knew how to write a song. What happened to the industry?

  • @robinandthe7hoods the industry went to trash.

  • She is a hot lovely goddess!

  • Cher's place is onstage and in the bedroom. Anywhere else is probably a disaster.

  • Sonny was always so much more a real person than Cher.

  • IF YOU LOOK REAL CLOSE, CHER MISSES A WORD DURING THE LIP-SYNC OF THIS VIDEO. IT'S STILL A CLASSIC THOUGH. RIP SONNY:)

  • Cher is the best American female vocalist - ever - maybe along with Kitty Wells, Lynn Anderson or Loretta Lynn - but that CHer lilt makes her more amazing even though there are other opinions , the sitar is spectacular and the music accompaniment is quite pleasant listening

  • I think Cher is better when she sings alone, and Sonny thinks that he is funny but he isn't!

  • love the horns.

  • just remember, if not for sonny, Cher would be nothing. He also wrote many other songs for other people and should be recognized in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

  • This song was popular mainly because of the TV show variety hour. Sonny was a fairly good songwriter but not all that talented a musician. He was a skilled businessman, consider his life he later became a politician. Splitting with Sonny was a good move for Cher career-wise, she was far more talented than Sonny, the two of them were an odd pair in a musical sense.

  • The best ballad by this couple ever!

  • We need more shows like this one and many others back on TV.

  • Get out and get your own texx and tux, stop being sick.

  • been looking for this, someone sampled to a rap song and the song slaps hella hard.

  • Forget Cher - Sonny is truely inspirational here!!! okay....

  • Супер! А написано 40 лет назад...

  • Cher is amazing

  • Armenian Bazouki Babe

  • Very strong and hopegiving song. Makes me wanna throw in windows of banks..

  • Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!!!!

  • This song reminds me of lazy drunk aftertnoons!! jeje nice shiny dress!!

  • this song is boss! i love it! so catchy.

  • Probably my favorite Sonny & Cher song after I Got You Babe and the jazzy, always cool The Beat Goes On. Sonny Bono was NOT a singer, but his flat, weirdly nasal voice partnered well with Cher on certain songs and this was one of them. I like the witty lyric also and the music--that wah-wah, the sitar and the drums--are a stand-out. Great clip; thanks for posting it!

  • Love this song from them I think personally that Sonny lost his touch in the mid 70s with writing songs though this song is good & I like it Watch and look at Sonny pretending to play the guitar while the other guy is playing it LOVE IT

  • I'm still in love with 1970s Cher...

  • So many memories..

  • With all due respect to Cher, she had some great songs in the 60s 70s 80s and 90s but this one is a CLUNKER in the 70s..even though it went to # 8 in April of 72

  • I love this song one of my favs :D

  • What a great clip. Thanks for posting it!

  • I had as much fun watching them perform as they probally had performing.

  • I like this song. Sonny is funny Cher is still sexy

  • great song and camera work

  • Now that I see it, the lead string instrument played by the guy in the foreground is an electric sitar which was often used in many recordings then. It had a very distinctive sound and was strung in the same way as a standard electric guitar. He's got it going though a wah-wah pedal as well. I always wondered how that voicing was done! It's so great to see this. Thanks again....

  • It's just a guitar and wah pedal.

  • The intrument that the guitarist is playing in the video is an electric sitar. The harmonics of the sound we hear doesn't like a guitar to me. But I respect your opinion and I don't debate such matters.

  • @singinjohnny they were lip syncing

  • @fran9860 Yes, I can see that.

  • What a fantastic live performance of a fairly involved arrangement that is so faithful to the original recording. Sound quality for television music had greatly improved in a very few years from the way it was even up to the mid-60s. Cher was maybe in her mid to late 20s here. They made some great music together. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • Great song, but I'm sorry... none of that is live. They are lip synching to the record.

  • sonny is awkward

  • He always was, but strangely appealing in a quirky way.

  • I miss the days when a skinny oh so sexy girl like Cher was in style and they didn't hit every tabloid on earth because somebody saw a rib.

  • @TummyLover any women can be sexy despite size.

  • @TummyLover Yes, it was lovely, but nowadays girls really hurt themselves to be thin. Cher was just beautiful, but she didn't barf to look like that. She was skinny with dignity. Not skinny with anorexia. <3 Cher

  • @conceitedperson78 I'm sorry, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sence. What difference does it make what generation you're living in? If Cher was naturally skinny then she could be just as naturally skinny now. It's just that now she would be accused of every eating disorder in the book. Now real naturally skinny women feel ashamed to go outside because somebody might make a comment that they should eat a cheeseburger or enroll at Remuda Ranch, so they're out getting breast implants instead.

  • @TummyLover I was just watching "A Face in the Crowd". A 1950's movie with Andy Griffith before he was sherriff of Mayberry. In it, he fell in love with a baton twirler and had her on his show. Her entire midriff was bare and you could see her entire ribcage. Nobody was rushing her off to the emergency room or protesting the film for a scandelous view of ribs. I'm sick of this shit.

  • @TummyLover

wow. alright. someone loves our little self-destructive, one-size must fit all, magazine and make-up pimpin cultural hegemony. .. btw: who gives a shit about tabloids?

  • @TummyLover Yes, Twiggy started that vogue. But then (and still in early 1970s, here) was still to follow serial deaths from anorexia, starting with Karen Carpenter.

  • nice

    5*****

  • was a beautiful woman

  • Sonny and Cher were definitely a dynamic duo!

Do you think Dr. Phil could have helped save their marriage?

  • No.

  • LOL, yeah you are probably right! But couldn't you see it? Imagine Dr. Phil saying, "You need to quit telling him how short he is, and YOU need to quit making jibes about her nose! LOL You know, all of that was really a part of them having fun and the people loved it!

  • hahaha i don't think so XD

do you know cher is friends with them? strange.... XxX

  • Love this but I never hear it on the radio, and haven't for years unfortunately.

  • Their music and T.V. show made the 70's such a fun time...I miss the spirit of those day's.

  • I love this...I love Sonny and Cher....

  • Wow! Does this bring back memories for this 50 year old gay man. Cher at her most gorgeous. And Sonny looking so cute!

  • AWESOME!! Simply AWESOME!!

  • They were a great husband and wife duo. Shame Sonny was killed in a sking accident. Even after their divorce they were friends.......always........

  • what a voice that woman has , thank you

  • i love this song

  • Decent drum part.

  • my favorite sonny and cher song. . . this song should be covered HEAVY, but preserving the wah guitar part.

  • Great! One of S & C's best.

  • cher is such a fox.

  • i have this on a vinyl 45

  • I just found this...I like the first half to 1:27min and then right there it sucks...then it comes back at 2:04min

  • What u smokin

  • Cher was so beautiful at that time

  • She still is in my opinion.

  • wow,, a classic

  • Look on youtube here and type in sonny bono debate, you will se his true self shine there, althought hes using the wife is sick line it shows what a loser he really is.

  • A Cowboy's work is never done.. Yah got that right pontiac!

  • Which one is Cher?

  • I absolutely love this song. Their voices sound so good together. What is that instrument at the beginning...its amazing!

  • It is amazing! It's called a "guitar"

  • Ha ha ha !!!!! You little tease lol

  • looks like some type of sitar, sounds like one too.

  • I loved this song back in the 1970's.

  • молодой якубович спел с шэр х)

  • This song is the jam.

  • luv this song on the film 'Be Cool' when the The Rock is slappin his arse, very funny scene

  • lip syncing is great!

  • sonny is truly a disturbed individual 1:30 in this, look at his face expressions you can tell he thinks very highly of himself , i think hes got no talent and is a miracle he was famous at all i never liked anything he sang or did , im not a hater im just expressing my opinon on him, which unfortunately isnt very high.

  • Alien: Sonny actually 'owned' alot. He was really more a manager and writer. He wrote songs not only for Cher but also wrote for other groups. He pretty much produced their show. He also 'created' Cher. He found her, promoted her and managed her....when she became a 'big' name...Gefen records wanted to manage her...Sonny lost his biggest client and wife. Sonny also was a decent backup singer for both his wife and some other groups.

  • If cher read this she would kick your ass.

  • Say what you will about Sonny, but he really was the engine that drove the Sonny and Cher machine, an extremely lucrative enterprise in the early 70's. Like Desi Arnaz, both Lucille and Cher praised their repsective husbands as being instrumental in their success.

  • But Sonny wrote a lot of their classic songs.

  • Actually, in their singing, they harmonize well together.

  • Sonny and Cher don't harmonize. Cher sings lead, and Sonny sings along....but not in harmony.

  • I never noticed that--is it always true? But they do sound well together anyway.

  • Harmony requires singing talent and training that Sonny and Cher don't possess. They don't know how to harmonize. Cher is a fair singer with a distinctive voice but very narrow range; Sonny should only be singing in the shower or a kareoke bar.

  • Thanks for the lesson in music.

  • lol

  • The fact that Sonny couldn't sing was part of the act.

  • That should be the ratings plunged*

  • Listen to the lyric... They are talking about a little kid playing cowboy's and indians.

I've listened to this song 100 times and that just hit me!

  • Jesus H. Christ... I heard this ONCE before

in my life, when I was 12 y/o (I think.) Due to

the Arabian-sounding guitar riffs, I thought

the song went, "A CAMEL'S Work Is Never

    Done."

Funny how memories get distorted, huh?

  • LOL they should change the lyrics and put it on aladin.

  • Cher's bony rib cage is distracting.

  • Those are her titties, Pam.

  • No, look lower. I know the difference between a boob and a rib.

  • I know, PamK36, is was just joking. I can see that it's her ribs.

  • incredible sound and video clarity. outstanding. thanks for the clip. it sounds and looks amazing.

  • Sonny and Cher were so great. Too bad they divorced. I was young but I remember feeling bad about it. Loved their show, campy but in a good way.. never missed it. Wish i could go back to those days. Better times no doubt.

  • Campy is always the good way!

  • Except for the chorus & the last line of the song, this one is all Cher! Just an observation I had even back in '72 when this was a hit. They made a great couple!

  • Sonny and Cher were truly unforgettable! RIP Sonny - you are sorely missed my friend. Kudos to Cher on her Las Vegas engagement.

  • Some believe he was murdered.

  • GENIUS !!!!!!!!! cher Genius

  • Don't laugh they had the best band going at that time and that nerdy drummer I THINK is Jeff Porcaro...you know the Porcaro Bros...aka: Toto...

  • Enjoyable score. The lyrics are a lot of fun to listen too. Both looked really great and seemed to enjoy themselves.

  • Vintage perfection

  • I like the nerdy-looking drummer. That was Snuff Garrett on the guitar.

  • This song is the jam.

  • this song was in a porno i was watching pretty cool

  • hope cher wasn´t acting in it..;)

  • No she wasn't acting. (Sorry, had to say it!)

  • LMAO this dumb song is stuck in my head! :O There's this video where Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson slaps his butt and dances along with this song . It's a funny scene from his movie Be Cool. Okayz I'm getting off topic....So these two like to jump people's horses? O.o

  • I feel your pain. The whole time I'm watching the movie I'm saying "Not the people's champ" LOL
