A desk is something you can see and hit and put stuff on and hide stuff behind. That's what "real" is. Should we stop just because the subatomic particles in the desk weren't what we believed? Of course they weren't. What we believed was literally based on no information at all. If it was right, that would have been the luckiest guess ever.
I though you were going to review the horror/sci-fi movie "Cube" from 1997, which I really like, so this was quite a disappointment. The review is interesting but still.
I'd say it depends on what the person that 'paid $20' wanted him to review. However as far as his reviews go, a newer movie would probably fit his standards of film stripping.
If the world were a shared dream, in which all of our rules be shared, that of biological down to socialization, and physical down to gravity, it wouldn't be so much different from the dream one can create for themselves. However, our personal dreams come after our experience in the shared one, in which the rules constitute different purposes, along with definitions.
The hammer situation doesn't seem to be a variant, but an incomplete introduction to the two tables situation in respect. There is no scientific substitute to the original hammer that is any different other than purpose.
Aw man this is such a disappointment. I was really looking forward to this review thinking it was going to be Cube, the sci-fi movie which featured David Hewlett of Stargate fame and Nicole de Boer of DS9 fame. I would have loved to have heard your thoughts on that movie. Couldnt bring myself to watch the rest of this review.
5:25; why can't it be both tables at the same time? Seems arbitrary to me.
After all, you'd have the matter-table, the one you can stub your toe on, and the force-table, which is basically the electric field which holds the atoms of matter-table together, making it solid.
CM, are you sure you didn't accidentally review the wrong movie? It was "THE Cube" and not just "Cube" that was requested? Just curious. Because I was surprised to learn that the movie you reviewed existed.
Right. I see what you mean with the two tables example and I also believe it is far less than than the tip of the iceberg of so much that can be explored in this matter. If this film only stops at that then I won't bother watching it.
Its a philosophical idea that really doesn't mean anything unless your mentally twisted enough to make philosophy the major point of your life. See philosophy comes in 2 basic flavors, one deals with moral and ethical questions, the other deals in pointless bullshit like whether reality is real and other questions that set off warning signs in the minds that have common sense.
yea but all that weird shit in the movie and making ppl q. what this movie is really all about is what makes me wanna watch it over and over again
i heard of anther live action jim henson movie done for the same show, i need to start looking for that, I would have like to hear more about the movie and less about 2 tables, but all in all good review 2 thumbs up
This was a hard one to review. Believe it or not I actually wrote out three different virsions of the review, but ultimately had to make up my mind on which one to use.
In one version I did end up talking more about the various things that happened in the film (and less about the two tables), but it was really not much more than that: just saying what happened in the film.
I decided to go with the one that talked more about what the film should have done - and what its shortcomings were - because I felt it was more relevant to why I didn't like the film.
yea, I admit one of the main reasons i asked you to review it was because i wanted to know your take cuz your reviews like the matrix shows your into philosophy so you do show a lot of great insight, once again good work, and yea I agree I wanted so see this guy fight someone and do something, go through the emotions or something, and I love this movie, infact I think I'm gona go watch it again

Are you sure you reviewed the right film here?
I think you were probably asked to review the Canadian film starring Nicole de Boer.

I don't get why Matthew is scrutinizing this movie's philosophical junction. It was made in 1969.

um actually this was done 20 years before that horror series, so who is ripping off of who? and cube wasn't the only movie to rip off of this,
and if you want him to review cube then request it, just know that cm doesn't like to review horror,
toadenk 2 years ago 5
Come on, normal people like Mattie can take Cube, There's doubt about Cube Zero to him.

Maybe do a review of a movie you really enjoy so that we have an idea what u look for in a movie

He did that with Pulp Fiction, and to a certain extent Galaxy Quest. Not to mention he was about 75% positive on Independence Day.

At first I thought this was a review of the movie "Cube", but then when you started it up I realized it was "The Cube".
You kind of lost me with the discussion about the two tables though.
