@TheJuice999 The big flat scrren tv at home was sci-fi when this film was done in 1966. Stupid tv shows like this were sci-fi too. The flat screen tv and this kind of shows are a reality now. Do you think books are going to disappear? I am tired of hearing young boys and girls saying in Internet: "I don't like reading books". Sci-fi movie???
Linda is attractive. The men looked like REALLY mean teachers lol when they were asking the questions and were praising Linda. Also Farenheit 451 is a REALLY good movie.
I hated this movie...the book sucked too. I just couldn't get into it. I can't believe how much they changed the movie. Clarisse was supposed to die...and "Linda?" THERE IS NO LINDA!!!! IT'S MILDRED!!! *deep breath* I'm ok...i just...UGH
With the rise of consumer demand for the latest prescription drugs and more people voting for Idol than in a presidential election, this film to me becomes more relevant all the time...well beyond the book burning theme. Look at her, all doped up on pills and getting validation from the TV!
One of the greatest films of all time, with one of the greatest film soundtracks of all time. I always cry at the end of this movie-beautiful. Watch it!
My liberal, wonderful language arts teacher (daughter of the 60s) hates this movie as much as we do. I'm looking forward to the 2008 adaptation, though. My hopes aren't all that high, but hey, it's TV. Who doesn't like TV? I like TV. Don't you? Yes, Linda, yes!
Fahrenheit 451 is a very good book in my opinan and it is a sham that they have you read it at a age that you can not truly understand it(i am not saying the 6th graders are retarded or anything like that i am just saying that you would like it more if you had read it at a older age) I have not seen the movie on the other hand so I have no say in that respect. CENSORSHIP IS WRONG (sorry about any spelling mistakes)
Montag's wife's name in Ray Bradbury's book "Fahrenheit 451" is Mildred, nicknamed Millie. I guess Mildred was a stuffy, old-fashioned name when the movie was released in 1966. They didn't change the name of Clarisse, Montag's neighbor, in the film though. Perhaps someone knows why they changed the character's name to Linda?
We watched this movie in english last year and this was the funniest part because he just starred so intently at her. It was soo creepy! We still laugh about it.
could someone please upload the scene with all of the books burning? Among them were "Jane Eyre," "Huck Finn," and "Lolita." PLEASE UPLOAD. I LOVE THIS BOOK AND FILM
That's exactly what I was saying. And many times you can't understand a word they're saying unless you've read the book because you know what they're talking about.
VBackseatRomeoV I don't think you understood my comment. It was directed to you saying why people have english accents if the story was set in california, so i said "that's exactly what I was saying" why the heck do the people have english accents, my comment has nothing to do with dingorex's comment about spanish
Well, there will be a remake. I assume there will be the Mechanical Hound. By God, I just hope they make the Firemen intimidating; does a bunch of 5'10 pencil neck guys walking around in black turtle neck sweaters seem something that people would be afraid of?
And a modern remake would probably have a CGI Mechanical Hound (from the book) and a fire truck that looks like something from Batman. And Montag doing Arnold-ish quips like, "You're fired!" Or, "That really burns me up!"
Truffaut originaly planned to do 4 Bradbury stories, 2 in French and 2 in English. He didn't get the funding he required though, so just settled for F451, (which is superb, apart from the flying police scene which is awful).
Please post more clips from this film, such as the great "spoken" title sequence, and the last scene, with the rebels reciting books out loud in the woods. Love this movie!

We're reading this book in English (it's a great book, by the way), but not watching the movie. I think I can see why.

why are people having an english accent if the story was set in california?

because Spanish would have ruined the intent of Bradbury's vision.

Because the film was made in Britain at Pinewood Studios with a largely British cast. Ray Bradbury's original novel was set in USA.
