There's a reason that people say they like anything "except rap our country." The reasons to hate both are very similar.

This is like the blues or (decent) country...wallowing in class misery. And unlike contemporary popular country music it does not celebrate that misery...it doesn't laud it as a source of virtue. And unlike a lot of rap music it doesn't celebrate the (internal) causes of such misery.

This avoids one of the major pitfalls of its genre. I approve.
