I've seen/read/listened to so many musicals and next to normal is so incredibly emotional in every way. This Steve guy is lacking a heart which is probably why boq is his favorite character on broadway:p

He says "pitch-perfect" in reference to her performance in the songs. Even if a note is wrong or the tone is skewed, you have to remember the character that's singing and what they're going through. Diana is such a fragile and frayed character, it wouldn't make any sense for her to sing like a pretty leading lady when her world is being torn apart. Her voice would be strained and she would probably scream a bit in response to her situation.

@silentguh Well, I'm a guy, so it'd be a little difficult - I could handle any of the male parts though. Marin Mazzie can handle the music in n2n... Alice Ripley just isn't a good singer.
@HikariDragonRyuu Well apparently you're humble too ;). I disagree. I don't think that Marin's voice fits the role at all. I respect her, but wish that Alice's replacement had gone to Jessica Phillips. And to add on, "Alice Ripley just isn't a good singer," is simply an opinion - NOT A FACT.
Anyone else think that it's kind of ironic how Steven's review is the complete opposite of the other two? A bipolar review piece about a woman with bipolar disorder.
This show is spectacular, but, it's only it is only for certain people. It's very emotional and not everyone will connect to it. The actors are phenomenal, the score in this musical is brilliant, but I have two negative comments, the show does drag at some points and I don't think that Alice Ripley's voice is amazing as some say it is. Her voice suits the character however if she was singing in another musical, it just wouldn't work, all in all, this show is great, and is worth the trip to NYC.
