  • Hoiman------Hoiman Munstah!!!

  • With some things, black and white can look more authentic than colour. For The Munsters, you couldn't help but be intrigued by seeing just one episode at least in colour. It suited black and white, always has, always will, one would presume, but that's because we're so used to it.

Given today's HD technology, now with more vivid colour, most people now tend to dismiss black and white, because we really now want to see everything in HD, and with amazingly vivid detail and colour.

  • WOW

  • Love Lilly.

    1313-Lucky Number!

    Come Colour.

  • Ugh! Why couldn't you have uploaded the whole show....and not just this small *teaser!* I gotta go to Amazon and see if I can find the series and order it.

  • Personally I LOVE it in color. I always hated wondering and trying to figure out exactly what color their clothes and things around them really/actually were!

  • where is the whole one?

  • How was this colorized?

  • ayy i wanna see the whole thing!

  • did they colorize a whole series of episodes?

  • I definitely like the red font

  • it looks better!!!

  • do you have it?! does this have spanish language?!

  • I think they should replace the crap they put on these days with brilliant classics like this!

  • I love how bold the colors are. Beautiful.

  • This is pretty good, except the credits should be green, not red.

  • I like it in color, it makes it more dramatic!

  • it works for me in color i like it

  • The Addams family and The Munsters could live right next to each other.

  • Why was Beverly Owen replaced?

  • @adelgado75 she had to leave her boyfriend at the time of filming the munsters ans she got reallyyy homesick, and just couldnt take it anymore. :)

  • Herman and Lily were so CUTE! Yvonne De Carlo and Fred Gwynne did a great job of portraying them as two people who loved each other very much.

  • this color clip from "THE MUNSTERS" puts me back to 1986,when Ted Turner

started Colorizing many of the Black and White classics. now while there are some who liked this process, others like myself don't feel too inclined to embrace this

technique, because Black and White films and TV shows had that quality, where

they were ment to be,nothing more, nothing less! THE MUNSTERS was a perfect

example of that, since Universal made the series to spoof most of its classic horror

    films-also BW!

  • How in the world did you get this episode in color????

  • @GeorgiaKev the video-poster may have gotten the color episode the same way i did. i got it in a collection that included dvds of all the episodes. i got it from amazon, which was on the internet. amazon is a company that sells tons of dvds from various tv shows and movies.

  • @coventrygardens You actually have to explain to people what Amazon is, in this day and age?

  • i LOVE this show, but the spookiness is lost when its in colour :( it takes away the kinda boris karloffy theme to it

  • God I love this show! Growing up Lily Munster was my role model. :)

  • One of the best TV them songs ever. I can't decide which version is better, this one or the original 1964 version.

  • What were they thinking when they colorized that?! Lily's dress isn't hot pink, nor is it white. It was a very pale, faded lavender/gray, at least that one was. The other colors her dress came in were all muted shades... And the lettering? RED? ugh.

  • @TangibleDreamsEnt I agree they should've done a more paler gray color for Lily's dress, but for me I kinda like the rosy pink, but your suggestion would've been much better.

  • @TangibleDreamsEnt there is a colour photo on google.and the dress is purple.

  • @masterstarfox Again, regardless of what color the dress appears, all the colors used were muted, or faded. There was not single vibrant dress in the wardrobe for Yvonne to wear as Lily. Lavender is in the purple color family. Lavender, green, slate blue and gray were the shades of her various dresses.

  • @TangibleDreamsEnt you should see fireball xl5 in colour.it fits them.

  • @TangibleDreamsEnt: Blood red. Fits the "horror" motif of both The Munsters' and Addams', despite the cheeseball corniness of both series.

  • @TherealRNO Both The Munsters and The Addams Family weren't about horror. The Munsters was about a family of monsters who didn't realize they were ... monsters. The Addams Family were quacks who didn't grasp that visitors thought they were quacks. Both shows were fish out of water comedies. Nothing to do with horror. So, yeah, blood red doesn't work.

  • @TangibleDreamsEnt You must not remember Wensday Adams always torturing Pugslie and on one episode of Munsters they said they had lady fingers to eat, but generally Munsters were non violent.

  • I can't help but think of Harvy Korman's lines in Blazing Saddles when seeing this!

    Oh Lily-Lily-Lily "LEGS" Lily-Lily-Lily

  • One thing that i always wondered was why the cast had to be in such heavy makeup when the show was in black and white in the first place and you really couldent tell they had any on. i mean sure you could tell they had makeup on, but i think they could have made it simplier and easier to wear for the actors since it really did'nt matter as you couldent see it.

  • this could be the best show ever, there actually were lessons for us here, like humility, not being hung up on looks or status.

  • @johnxgin3

I have that newer box set of Fireball XL-5, and look forward to viewing the colour episode.

Best puppet show of all the Gerry Anderson's creations.

  • wow i didnt know that the munsters logo was writen in blood. i always thought it was green slime

  • Its an impressive job of colorization, no doubt. But I think they picked the colors all wrong. First of all, Lilly's dress is awful in that color, I would have left it white. Then there's the skin tones. All we have to do is look at any of the examples when they did shoot in color to see what worked well.

  • @Nash1a Lilly's dress was that color in real life, too.

  • WOW this is trippy hahaha

  • When did Pat Priest become part of the cast then as Marilyn?

  • I like the black and white versions better

  • She's truly a star.

  • lol the munsters look like zombies

  • @theoldgamer

    Thats the whole idea

  • This is super! I always wanted to see the older classics in color. I don't think the new colorization method takes away from things (love the colorized first season of Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie), it opens a door to get kids today interested in the classic TV shows. I love it!!! Thanks!

  • Its Mr. Cheever, Mr Mooney's Boss.

  • I always thought the lettering was melting wax (yellow) not (red) blood.

  • Colorization sucks!!

  • @iwtricapecod it does not!!it's amazing.

  • Anyone who has seen Munster go home, realizes it was no where near as good as the series. color didn't work here.

  • Comment removed

  • Color just aint right for the Munsters !

  • it was right in the 1966 and 1981 movies, and 'The Munsters Today' in 1988. I like it. :)

  • I will start by saying that if all those old shows, The Munsters, The Addams Family, The Beverley Hillbillies, and plenty more were given complete colourization, visually, they would not seem like just a thing of the past anymore.

Just think of it, it would be a stunning reintroduction of these great shows to our screens again, and would probably be watched by many more people. They could do it if they really wanted, I'me absolutely certain of that, because they can do anything now

  • Yes, I would agree with what you've said there, because in black and white it's always worked, hasn't it? It still does to this day, even given today's technology, and we all know the saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The same goes for the other great shows at that time too, but if they were all reintroduced to us in colour, you'd watch them, you would. Even if you thought the colour didn't really suit them, you'd still be amazed at the transformation, that would only be natural.

  • @31cify On the contrary Black and white is an art unto itself ,it has nothing to do with " not being in color" watch the " Have gun will travel " episodes, they are excellent in B and w i don't even think of color when watching them.

  • Well certainly yes, you're right.

  • there are some show that just are not right for color it takes something away from it can anyone imagine shows like [The Honey mooners, I love Lucy or The Tilight Zone] in color ? some classics such as this show belong only in black and white.

  • I love it in color but would not recommend the whole series in this color.

But people who make the dvd relases the producers should do a separate color 2 seasons on dvd

  • @oldsitcom12 i agree with u

  • I got this dvd today for 3 dollars on Ebay

  • love it in color! more more more more

  • color ruins the Munsters. watching it in color just gives it a really different feel. I don't like it one bit, and I'm not watching it in color anymore! I WON'T I WON'T I WON'T I WON'T!!!!! see what I did there? a little munsters reference. thats right

  • yvonne the carlo so grat

  • Look at 0:54 !!! What a check the Adams family's Thing is doing over the dressing table???

    Háaa háaa háaa...

  • sweet i love the munsters they rock

  • So their makeup was originally green all the way, correct? Even when it was B&W. Was the makeup they used a harsh chemical like the Tin Man's makeup back in 1939? Curious to know.

  • No. Fred Gwynne was purple as well as Al Lewis and Butch Patrick. Yvonne was a faint green and it wasn't until sometime in 1965 when Fred, Yvonne and Butch became Blue/Green while Al was blue although he was referred to Green in some episodes.

  • the pilot for the munsters was filmed in colour, but the network decided to film the series in balck and white, to make it more in keeping with the old 1930s and 40s universal horror films, in the very first few episodes, herman really does look like frankensteins' monster and a lot more scarier, then eh did after his make up was "lightened up", personally i think the colour ruins it, as i think it should be in black and white.

  • @MLIZARDKING I "met" Al Lewis on a radio talk show in the Boston area about 10 years ago. I asked him why the Munsters were never in color and his replied that the network did not want to spend the extra $1500 per episode, to film it in color.

  • @MLIZARDKING 100%

  • @MLIZARDKING it looked better in BW but also at the time to make an episode in colour cost an extra $15000.

  • For an Average family statistic.

Do people really want to be just 'normal'?

Is it possible to just no try and BE normal?

    Who knows what is Normal?

    YOU?!

  • even if the dress is pink there, it looks really good in her, shes great, but i prefer the purple one,

  • 1:01

  • I love the Munsters!! That was THE coolest show ever!!!!

  • I believe if The Munster's would've stayed on for at least another year the series would of aired in color. It wasnt until 1966 when all B&W shows had transitioned to color.

  • Yes, one more season and The Munsters would have definitely been in color since all prime-time shows in the fall of '66 were in full color.

  • @stopthemachine

It honestly depends on how critical CBS was on the "All Color" approach in the Fall of '66. CBS and ABC really didn't have as much to gain over switching to color (especially since only about 10% of the viewing public owned a color set in '66) whereas NBC (which was part of the RCA conglomerate) made big profits by pushing color, since RCA was the only major color TV producer, and patent holder, in 1966. The big problem was that Batman knocked their ratings down & it was color

  • Nope it would have lost it's rustic tone if it transitioned to color for another season

  • Love this.always thought that the MUNSTERS should be in color after i saw the movie MUNSTER GO HOME which was in color.i think there are a few differences from the movie such as the soda was red but,i could be wrong.hope they do more color munsters .

  • i meant to say that i thought the sofa was originally red.

  • Fantastic colors!

  • Lily would never wear pink. What were they thinking? That is my only complaint about this.

  • yes she did, her dress colors ranged from blue, gray, pink and purple. google it. i know since i am oppessed with the dress and have done alot of research.

  • OR should i say dresses since her she had diff ones.

  • please post more!!!11

  • Please post a few more clips from this colorized episode. :-)
