@Spironic I swear this is a conspiracy by my Mac loving buddies in their efforts to convert me to Apple technology. Evil! Evil, I tell ya! Evil! (must resist....must....re...sist...)
@ikmultimedia You know, I'd been looking to trade one of my 5 strings for a Bass Pod, but will see if I can trade it for an iPod instead. I already have the iRig. I ordered it under false info from the seller (it is not a personal amp), but now that I'm learning more about it and seeing it's potential, getting an iPod and working it is the way to go. Thank you for your input. :-)
question - nowadays my irig doesnt identify my guitar, despite it being inside the input, and the cord that i use betweeen the irig and guitar work. i can also play the metronome and audio demos. but when i go on the setup section, theres apparently no input
@RatmTelecaster Makek sure the first track in the Recorder section is armed. If that is not the issue, tech support is available and you should contact them. They will help you out.
@EngineOfficial If that means a straight cable with no circuitry for impedance adapting and other required circuitry to get a proper guitar signal then the answer would be maybe but if it worked it would not sound good at all. Guitar requires a special input (the reason why PC/Mac audio interfaces that you see have "Hi-Z" or "Instrument" inputs)
@dancelittlelier There are certain MacBooks that have the same combo in/out adapter like the iOS devices but you'd have to make sure yours had that. Also, see the iRig page on our site for more information. Thanks
@buddy39914 Major music retailers, Apple Stores, Best Buy, Target and you can check our Dealers/Distributors page on our site (or get it directly from us). Hope that helps
@bladuck1 it sounds this good, because it was used for all our iRig videos and hundreds made by users (as well as SoundCloud audio clips, etc). Thanks for letting us point that out.
@LeonX62 Certain ones, yes. With the exception of the Mac Pro, any new model of Mac desktop that has the audio technical specification: "Support for Apple iPhone Headset with Microphone" are compatible with iRig. There's a chart of compatible Macs on the site under iRig / compatible devices
@ikmultimedia could you tell me if this works with the new imacs aswell? i just bought mine today and but for some reason the computer won't pick up any audio. i already went into system settings and changed input to line in. irig is plugged in correctly and my guitar volume is up... would you know what might be causing this? will continue to find a solution myself, probably i'm just overlooking something obvious :-/
@nickhansbauer It should. You may need to use the first jack on the back - the Audio line out/headphone minijack (digital/analog). You can also try to put your Apple earbuds with microphone in there to test first
@edbarcena It is like the desktop versions - nearly no latency. Look through our favorites and other videos for people playing fast with it and no latency issues.
Greatest... App... Ever!!! My cheap $99 Ibanez that never sounded good is actually sounding like the Syn Custom I've always wanted!! The tone and sound is AMAZING!! Especially with new strings!
Well I'm thinking of using this as an alternative ultra portable sorta "audio interface" with effects for a microphone like SM58 into my laptop line in, rather then getting the KVR connection thing. would that be valid?
@Mixikyr You would need an additional adapter to get your SM58 into it (since this is a 1/4" connection) but it works. Have you also seen iRig Mic? That would be much easier
You can plug the iRig into your computer by hooking the headphone output into the computers audio input providing you have the right sound card in your pc that will allow you to record the internal sound of the computer itself. Most can do this any way. Another thing you could do is play a song through Internet radio or YouTube while recording in a program like Audiocity.
@jwalk094 Internal routing programs would be much better and cleaner for that purpose. For directly doing the same that is done with iRig on iPhone or in place of a regular audio interface, there are not many computers that can do this, actually.
@360freakazoidguy some MacBook/Pro and iMac models have the combined input/output like iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad do but this is made for the iOS devices and won't likely work on a PC or many Macs too.
How do i get this guitar sounding at 1:12 at my amplitube, its sounds like Yngwie Malmsteen, but i dont get that sound on my ipad with this app, when i adjust the gain high, its just much background noise, help me !!
Want to make this product really rock, and sell like madness? Make the audio live stream via bluetooth or WiFi. That way you could plug an apple TV (or custom Rx) into your amp and have a wireless guitar/microphone system with killer effects/sims!
It would take some finesse but I think the latency could be made low enough. Maybe when iOS4.2 arrives (maybe tomorrow)?
@TheMusictunez You can go out from the headphone out to an amp. There's an instruction sheet that details the kind of wires you would need to get the best sound with least issues with the unit. Generally, 1/8" stereo to dual MONO 1/4" is the best bet to go out to a mixer/amp/etc.
@samyboy25niner Nope, you can go out to an amp, mixer, etc. Look through our favorites and other videos on YouTube where people do this on stage. Also see my other post about the wires that would do the job.
@ca57 This is meant for iPhone and it works in certain MacBook models that have a combined input/output jack like iPhone does. To go into PC you'd need to send the output from iRig into your audio interface (still using iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad). So no, not directly.
@Mixikyr You'd have to use a preamp especially for condensers and it definitely will not provide phantom power. You could use an XLR-->1/4" adapter for certain microphones but they'd have to provide enough gain to be effective.
@flipverb I don't have a date for you but there will be recording and it seems like it will satisfy your needs (and more) so go rent your tuxedo and buy a cake! Invite IK, please. That's the least you can do.
@PeterSchou1 Yes, it should create some interesting effects too, though the clean amp should be just like plugging your acoustic into its real counterpart.
I recently purchased the 20 dollar full version of AmpliTube for my iPhone 4. I purchased the PRS GuitarBud cable (29.99) thinking that it would save me 10 bucks over the iRig cable, but I have not been able to get any sound out of the combination. Is this a problem with the AmpliTube app on iPhone 4 or the PRS GuitarBud cable with AmpliTube app or with iPhone 4? If I get an iRig cable do you think that AmpliTube wiill work with my guitar on iPhone 4 with AmpliTube? Help!
@MrPeaberry This is a problem since the PRS cable does not have the electronic components to properly get the appropriate signal into the device. iRig does the impedance matching and other things to the signal so that AmpliTube gets the correct signal.
Hi, i've just recieve my iRig, but somehow there's no sound comming out of it. I already download the apps the free version on my iphone. I followed the steps on how to fixed it. The problem still there. What is actually happening? Is my iRig faulty or my phone?

@robfosters we already have an iPad native app awaiting approval :) More than just screen size too, you can use more FX, etc. Very very nice, can't wait for you to try it.
Hi, i'm from singapore. This is a cool stuff for musician, guitar player who use iphone. Will this iRig be comming to singapore? Can this app run on iphone?
@punkscooterist Yes it runs on iPhone for sure. I use it on my 3GS and it has been used on 3G and iPhone 4. To check availability in your country, visit our site and click "Dealers" to get a listing.
@stevencudengle - iRig is not a simple connector - there are electronic components inside that our engineers spent a lot of time testing and experimenting with until they got it right. iRig is the best choice and the only one we recommend for AmpliTube For iPhone.
@nig3l102 It is shipping in Europe now, US/Japan July 7th so you will get it soon if you preordered. If not, you might want to start looking at dealers or preordering from us soon as it is in high demand.
@LinzyRulzNorthNowra It will ship July 1st in Europe and July 7th in the US - to find dealers in your area visit our site for a list. Also, you can preorder it directly from us. You might want to soon, as this is a hot item. Thanks!
Question for IK: when using iRig with a multitrack recorder (without Amplitube app for effects) can you hear the guitar you are playing while hearing previously recorded tracks? Thanks
@jlrtorrego That would be a function of the software you are using, there isn't a direct hardware monitoring like an audio interface since this is the impedance adapter/signal connection and conversion happens on the device (not the iRig). Thanks!
Question for IK: when using iRig with a multitrack recorder (without Amplitube app for effects) can you hear the guitar you are playing while hearing previously recorded tracks? Thanks
What a great app! I downloaded the full version yesterday, can't wait now until the iRig adapter becomes available. 5 stars in the iTunes app store from me. Brilliant, great work IK Multimedia!
Question for IK: Has this been extensively tested with the iPhone 3GS?
Reason for this is that the PRS GuitarBud worked fine with a 3G, but would not work with a 3GS - something to do with the noise-cancelling technology on the S. Also tried soldering a DIY one together using a TRRS tip - same result: weird crackling sounds and lots of uncontrollable feedback.
If this works with a 3GS, great. But it'd be good to see a video that shows this.
@geartesting Yes, it has been tested and worked VERY well with 3GS. This is a different beast than the product you mentioned. Tested on 3G, 3GS, iPad, and current generation iPod Touch extensively.
@ikmultimedia. Firstly let me say I am a fan of Amplitube, but I don't see the point unless you can record what you hear for ideas if anything. So hurry and get this sorted. Lol. Also, downloaded the the free app, very cool, but I won't be spending my hard earned untill the the forementioned is sorted.
@info020 Recording will come. This is right now a very small amp and smaller than similar modeling devices (most of which also do not record). We do, however, listen and want to give people the best experience and will continue to add to and improve AmpliTube for iPhone for sure. Thanks!
@gregralls The PRS is such a piece of junk for 30 bux. Sorry you already bought it. The Griffin Technology Guitar Connect cable is the same form factor but a MUCH better cable. I used an early version and they will be available online this week.
@barkleyspider Ha ha. Thanks mate. I won't be wasting my money on the cable you suggested, I'll get an iRig adapter instead. The PRS cable is just a temporary measure until the iRig becomes available - it's doing the job fine for the short-term, and when the iRig comes out it won't be needed anymore. Enjoy using your 'MUCH better' cable. Ha ha. Good one!
@barkleyspider Again, we do not recommend other cables, and however many times you push that brand here won't change the fact that it doesn't appear to contain the electronic components that are made to get the best signal into ours and other audio apps. Ours does, and for a reason. People will see and hear those reasons in a matter of days.
This is similar to the comparison of using a proper audio interface vs just plugging into your computer's line in when using a DAW program.
i really cannot wait for this to come out. i'm willing to pre-order, but i'd also like to know when this will be available. any info you guys can release about that?
ya im not fealing this..really stupid..to try to make music on a iphone fare from professional..i love t-racks though really great..i use it all the time...but plsss stop making it easy for any tonedef wanna be musician to make music..if your really in making music and love the art youll do it right..and not on an iphone.. :)
@VEX519 As always, different strokes for different folks. People have been making music with everything from top-end instruments and systems to literal garbage with great success. It isn't always the tool that makes the music good or bad. Plus, regardless of the platform this sounds great.
@Krisdub1 There are different markets for different products, if we were all doing the same thing with the same tools music would be pretty boring, no? Looking at the preorders (in fact, people who want one should probably order soon it is going so well) I'd say flop is not an option but thank you for your input and we're glad you like T-RackS.
@icarustide based on the platform, that's what we can do now - look for the possibility of one that uses the iPad's increased capabilities to do more not just for display size but for the ability to use more actual effects, etc, at the same time.
finally a good use for an i phone looool i'd imagine someone using his foot to switch the pedal effect and then all of a sudden "FUCK I stepped on my Iphone!"
@KejsiRocks while I agree this is great, AmpliTube is used on many recordings including major label releases (AC/DC anyone?) so it is good for far more than practice.
@ikmultimedia It depends what style of music you're playing. Clean and crunch presets can be used. I also like to use Amplitube for solos. There's some great effects there. For full distortion however it can't match the real thing, although you're getting there! Ampeg SVX is actually better than most amplifiers. Perfect for home studio use.
@KejsiRocks Ampeg SVX is indeed an interesting beast. Many folks like to DI bass, but then when they run that signal through SVX it seems to trigger "now THAT'S what a great bass amp should sound like when recorded" and bass amps get some love from an interesting angle.
@ikmultimedia: AC/DC use AmpliTube? - thats a BOLD statement. Maybe the bass, but I'd be surprised to hear they recorded any guitars with anything other than old Marshalls. One thing is for sure, all their classic albums recorded were recorded with Marshalls, so its only ever going to be the last one or two albums that 'may' have some AmpliTube in the mix, and those albums suck anyway.
@TeleCustom72 Opinions vary, but the new albums sell pretty dang well too, fans seem to appreciate the new work as well. It isn't a bold statement if true, and it is true. We have official news of it on our site, which of course wouldn't be there without approval. Although I know you think they "suck" perhaps you can take a listen through their album that does use AmpliTube on some tracks and tell us which parts of which specific tracks use it? We'd be interested in seeing that.
@ikmultimedia I'm not bothered enough to want to pick through the Black Ice album and decide which parts are Marshalls and which are AmpliTube simulations. In any case, I'm not of the opinion that modelling amps or stuff like AmpliTube is bad in any way, I think the tones are getting closer all the time, but I'm very surprised to hear of AC/DC using them since they're dyed in the wool JTM45 and Superbass guys.
@jinkerGM: the app works with the same low-latency you can experience on the Mac/PC (128 samples buffersize) so more than suitable for live play and practice...
@buchla300: frist generation iPod do not have audio input in the headphones plug, so the iRig will work only with iPod Touch 2nd generation and iPad as well
@skarfreak: for Mac/PC we suggest you have a look at our StealthPlug range of guitar to USB cable, that is the best way to experience AmpliTube on Mac/PC
@skarfreak Well, this particular one—yes. The iPhone has a special 3.5 mm jack, that combines audio input (mic) and stereo output. You wont find them on desktop or laptop computers.
is there anything on amplitube that u can make your own loops to play with?

Hi, can I plug my electric acoustic right into the iRig?
sosrosr 1 year ago
@sosrosr it should accept the input, yes, but you will need to experiment with the sounds of amps/fx/cabs/mics/etc.

Hi, i'm from singapore. This is a cool stuff for musician, guitar player who use iphone. Will this iRig be comming to singapore? Can this app run on iphone?
punkscooterist 1 year ago
@punkscooterist Yes it runs on iPhone for sure. I use it on my 3GS and it has been used on 3G and iPhone 4. To check availability in your country, visit our site and click "Dealers" to get a listing.
ikmultimedia 1 year ago
do u HAVE to use the irig? can u like make something else thats similar?
stevencudengle 1 year ago
@stevencudengle - iRig is not a simple connector - there are electronic components inside that our engineers spent a lot of time testing and experimenting with until they got it right. iRig is the best choice and the only one we recommend for AmpliTube For iPhone.

Question for IK: when using iRig with a multitrack recorder (without Amplitube app for effects) can you hear the guitar you are playing while hearing previously recorded tracks? Thanks
jlrtorrego 1 year ago
@jlrtorrego That would be a function of the software you are using, there isn't a direct hardware monitoring like an audio interface since this is the impedance adapter/signal connection and conversion happens on the device (not the iRig). Thanks!

But it'd be good to see a video that shows this.
geartesting 1 year ago
@geartesting Yes, it has been tested and worked VERY well with 3GS. This is a different beast than the product you mentioned. Tested on 3G, 3GS, iPad, and current generation iPod Touch extensively.
ikmultimedia 1 year ago
@ikmultimedia. Firstly let me say I am a fan of Amplitube, but I don't see the point unless you can record what you hear for ideas if anything. So hurry and get this sorted. Lol. Also, downloaded the the free app, very cool, but I won't be spending my hard earned untill the the forementioned is sorted.
info020 1 year ago
@info020 Recording will come. This is right now a very small amp and smaller than similar modeling devices (most of which also do not record). We do, however, listen and want to give people the best experience and will continue to add to and improve AmpliTube for iPhone for sure. Thanks!

its here!......its here! i got it on my phone! now please send the cord, im so jacked!!!!
oneswatter 1 year ago
@oneswatter I'm using a PRS Guitarbud cord with the AmpliTube iPhone app at the moment. It works fine. I couldn't wait a month for iRig to come out!
gregralls 1 year ago
@gregralls The PRS is such a piece of junk for 30 bux. Sorry you already bought it. The Griffin Technology Guitar Connect cable is the same form factor but a MUCH better cable. I used an early version and they will be available online this week.
barkleyspider 1 year ago
@barkleyspider Ha ha. Thanks mate. I won't be wasting my money on the cable you suggested, I'll get an iRig adapter instead. The PRS cable is just a temporary measure until the iRig becomes available - it's doing the job fine for the short-term, and when the iRig comes out it won't be needed anymore. Enjoy using your 'MUCH better' cable. Ha ha. Good one!
gregralls 1 year ago

VEX519 1 year ago
@VEX519 As always, different strokes for different folks. People have been making music with everything from top-end instruments and systems to literal garbage with great success. It isn't always the tool that makes the music good or bad. Plus, regardless of the platform this sounds great.
ikmultimedia 1 year ago
@VEX519 What, are you afraid of the competition? Whole albums have been recorded on the iPhone app 4tracks. Maybe it is YOU who needs to get with it.
mortyok3 1 year ago
@mortyok3 The tools are rarely the determining factor in the magic of the music...
ikmultimedia 1 year ago
@ikmultimedia this is stupid..lol this is such a fail..why play this and ill play my real stuff..lololol
Krisdub1 1 year ago
@Krisdub1 There are different markets for different products, if we were all doing the same thing with the same tools music would be pretty boring, no? Looking at the preorders (in fact, people who want one should probably order soon it is going so well) I'd say flop is not an option but thank you for your input and we're glad you like T-RackS.

It'a shame that you're limited to only three stomps at once.
icarustide 1 year ago
@icarustide based on the platform, that's what we can do now - look for the possibility of one that uses the iPad's increased capabilities to do more not just for display size but for the ability to use more actual effects, etc, at the same time.

Wow! This actually makes me consider buying iphone. Amplitube isn't good for anything else than practice and this is the perfect use of it. Perfect!
KejsiRocks 1 year ago
@KejsiRocks while I agree this is great, AmpliTube is used on many recordings including major label releases (AC/DC anyone?) so it is good for far more than practice.
ikmultimedia 1 year ago
@ikmultimedia It depends what style of music you're playing. Clean and crunch presets can be used. I also like to use Amplitube for solos. There's some great effects there. For full distortion however it can't match the real thing, although you're getting there! Ampeg SVX is actually better than most amplifiers. Perfect for home studio use.
KejsiRocks 1 year ago
@KejsiRocks Ampeg SVX is indeed an interesting beast. Many folks like to DI bass, but then when they run that signal through SVX it seems to trigger "now THAT'S what a great bass amp should sound like when recorded" and bass amps get some love from an interesting angle.
ikmultimedia 1 year ago
@ikmultimedia: AC/DC use AmpliTube? - thats a BOLD statement. Maybe the bass, but I'd be surprised to hear they recorded any guitars with anything other than old Marshalls. One thing is for sure, all their classic albums recorded were recorded with Marshalls, so its only ever going to be the last one or two albums that 'may' have some AmpliTube in the mix, and those albums suck anyway.
TeleCustom72 1 year ago
@TeleCustom72 Opinions vary, but the new albums sell pretty dang well too, fans seem to appreciate the new work as well. It isn't a bold statement if true, and it is true. We have official news of it on our site, which of course wouldn't be there without approval. Although I know you think they "suck" perhaps you can take a listen through their album that does use AmpliTube on some tracks and tell us which parts of which specific tracks use it? We'd be interested in seeing that.
ikmultimedia 1 year ago
...and yes, it was guitars not bass. Check out the Artists area on our site for more information on them and other artists too. Thanks!
ikmultimedia 1 year ago
@ikmultimedia I'm not bothered enough to want to pick through the Black Ice album and decide which parts are Marshalls and which are AmpliTube simulations. In any case, I'm not of the opinion that modelling amps or stuff like AmpliTube is bad in any way, I think the tones are getting closer all the time, but I'm very surprised to hear of AC/DC using them since they're dyed in the wool JTM45 and Superbass guys.
TeleCustom72 1 year ago
How do the simulations stack up against the desktop version?

omatu1 1 year ago
@jinkerGM: the app works with the same low-latency you can experience on the Mac/PC (128 samples buffersize) so more than suitable for live play and practice...
@buchla300: frist generation iPod do not have audio input in the headphones plug, so the iRig will work only with iPod Touch 2nd generation and iPad as well
@skarfreak: for Mac/PC we suggest you have a look at our StealthPlug range of guitar to USB cable, that is the best way to experience AmpliTube on Mac/PC
