...that do not make sense. Most studies show a range of 1 in 100,000 to upwards of 1 in 1,000,000 or more neck adjustments before any severe complications occur. Chiropractic is a safe and effective way for treating all sorts of musculoskeletal pain. I would hope people give it a try and if the chief complaint does not improve within a few visits then by all means I would expect that person to be referred out. Hopefully not to pop aspirins to mask the condition so it can get worse...
I would like to share recent studies that are saying patients that have a stroke after seeing a chiropractor were just as likely to have one after seeing an MD. The majority of cases, if not all, are the result of patients coming in with complaints of a developing stroke and inevitably having one. This is true is both chiropractic and MD offices. Both are highly trained in finding those red flags but there are those few that get overlooked. I'd stick to the facts and not make up new numbers...
i used to be a skeptic of chiropactors too until i injured my arm at work. my employer sent me to an occupational therapist who was a practising chiro. i was all better in only 3sessions! I think regular MDs are ok but they are often overrated as far as thier ability to help people heal. In my experience with MDs, you get hurt or sick, they ask you dumb questions, and then they
Doctors will also recamend physical therapy first. I have seen this more often than the drug or surgical solutions. In fact I had an ankle problem that was put to the physical therapy solution for over two years with continuing worse results. When I finally talked the doctor into an MRI he realized that surgery was necessary and doing it to late means I need now have to have surgery every 3 years to remove the cysts that now continue to grow. Earlier surgery would have prevented this.
The body is constantly trying to cope with the effects of gravity. Not to mention Wolff's Law on bone ossification(formation). When bone is subjected to mechanical force it stimulates the piezoelectric effect and stimulates new bone formation. This can lead to joint "gluing" themselves together.
One of the leading causes of death among geriatrics(old people) is hip replacement surgery, due to the inability to tell when and where the foot is going to plant as they walk. The discs in the spine have very poor blood supply and so proper movement (imbibition) of the joints creates the diffusion of nutrients and hydration through the membrane of the joint complex. This is why you start the day taller and through the day the discs are compressed and sleep is necessary to "refresh" the join
chiropractic keeps your body out of a sympathetic state. fixation of joints results in joint dysfunction, improper calcifications and sclerosis. large diameter tactile (discriminate touch) fibers in your spinal cord inhibit pain (nociception), which can cause permanent damage because once nociceptive (pain) fibers are formed it creates a permanent pathway.
Well I for one would rather try an adjustment from a chiropractor or some other alternatives if I had back problems rather than surgery or drugs. I'm for at least trying an alternative treament. Surgery is very risky also.
An adjustment from a chiropractor is not "an alternative" it is a danger. This is not medicine it is not even based on science but on a philosophy created by a "magnetic healer" in the 19th century. Just as magnetic cures can't help since the iron in your blood is non-ferris, subluxations are not responsible for all back problems and illnesses. Ask a real doctor.
a real doctor? like one of those quack m.d.s that keeps someone sick by telling them they'll never overcome their diabetes, acid reflux, depression and instead shovel drugs down their throat which will only guarantee more sickness? ive seen all of the above diseases overcome ONCE THEY STOPPED DOING WHAT THEIR MD TOLD THEM. you must think science is what drug companies say. there is too much money in keeping people sick. so keep on cutting, burning, and drugging people. thats not health
Big Pharma is this countries greatest shame as it keeps cheap life saving drugs from people who need them overseas causing millions of deaths every year. Yes, they push things out too fast for the money. However, I live a normal life now because of pain and mood altering medications. Quackapracters have told me I shouldn't use these meds and that they could "adjust" this physical trauma injury out of my brain. Bull, the pain is a damaged tissue issue as is the rest. My neurologist is a real Dr
Asprin is a proven pain reliever, neck manipulation isn't. Harvard Medical School in Boston found therapies "did not result in clinically significant improvements in symptom relief or functional restoration." Chiropractic Injuries can include soft tissue damage, joint dislocations, bone fractures in the neck and back. Most common problem is disk injury of neck or lower back, can be "extraordinarily painful." Karen Santorum neck adjustment left a 4.5-centimeter tear in her left vertebral artery
Chiro can do a lot of good if they stick to what they do best which is basic massage and physical therapy. Temporary pain relief and even fixing minor problems fine. But they are not diagnostic doctors when they use fake science like subluxations and refuse all medication. Drugs are based on natural, yes natural chemicals that act in and on the body. This natural and unmedication BS is just that BS. It forgets the fact that an out of balance body often needs and wants a chemical or surgical fix
Cocaine and heroine are naturally based drugs as well does that mean they are safe to use? Of course chiro isnt going to magically fix my broken leg back together like medical surgery will but come on why such hate on something that helps soooo many? Yes there are terrible chiro's and yes there are terrible dr's but thats no reason to discard their practice's all together.
Actually cocaine is very safe to use as a medicine and was used in both of my sinus surgeries. It commonly used in hospitals across the world for that purpose as no other drug serves the pre-op purpose so well. Heroine is not nearly as dangerous a drug as most people believe. You can't tell a Heroine addict on a maintenance dose from a normal member of society. I'd rather have a maintained heroine addict airline pilot than one who hides his alcoholism. People are so ignorant about drugs.
I get worried when read this as a Nurse with specialty in pain control medicine
1) Cocaine is not used because of the euphoria effect on patients (which is one of many factors of addiction) and they are several better controlable medicines like cocaine.
2) I have seen abd treated some sick people with an addiction, they are uncontrollable and irrational because they are under a constant detox and withdrawal. There is no maintenance dose, there is a constant withdrawal. Pilot? I dont think so
Very True Indeed on Cocaine, one of the easiest drugs to become addicted on. I live in severe pain every single day myself and accept much of it to avoid certain medications. However, people take Morphine, THC and other drugs for pain on a daily basis with no debilitating effects on their normal lives. I have had to go to an Emergency Room several times to treat pain with a stronger medication and do wonder if cannabis might help prevent that. Current laws dont allow that that option here.
You've obviously never been to one. Especially after a doctor has prescribed drugs which failed to treat a back issue the Chiro. fixed in one appointment.
I admit some people can benefit from chiropractic adjustments. If you've sustained an injury to your neck or back, this treatment will likely improve your health. However, I don't think the practice should be as casual as it is. There are too many people getting adjusted for the sake of getting adjusted with no real reason. They think having their backs cracked will instantly result in relief. That has more to do with placebo (power of the mind) than it does with actual spinal complications.
I think you will find there is quite a difference between getting regular adjustments that result in cavitation for no reason and getting a regular massage for no reason. The adjustments are associated with a much higher risk that increases each time you have one, whereas a massage has no associated risk. It's just simple anatomy. So I think TheYoufinAsia is absolutely correct.
Could you please explain why the risk increases with additional adjustments? Also if chiropractic is so dangerous why do medical doctors pay over 1000% more for malpractice insurance?
The risk increases because with more adjustments as damage can build up to the arterial lining. This increases the risk of dislodging materiel from the vertebral artery's lining and causing a stroke. With the current concern growing I would not be at all surprised if some insurance carriers do not in the future if they haven't already increase premiums to chiropractors who use high neck manipulation in their practices.
Yes, good banter...In your prior post you said that chiropractors experience very few law suits compared to MDs, this is correct! Considering that today there are more visits to alternative health care providers, of which chiropractic is the largest, you'd think people would be dropping dead of stroke all over the place...I'm guessing the insurance companies just haven't caught on that chiropractic is killing of so many people
Study published in a 1996 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics say 1 in 400,000. 2003 survey of French doctors by Hospitals of the University of Strasbourg, France found the incidence of post-manipulation vascular injuries 30 times higher than published in medical journals. 1 in 13,000. This is per manipulation, since patients return say 10 times the threat to them is now 1 in 1,300. One doctor knows 9 people who died from this.

God created us all to heal, He didn't forget any of these drugs that we take, He isn't sitting up in heaven right now saying "man, I forgot that advil in Johnny, or that benedryl in June." no, he created our bodies in such an incredible way, that when we remove the intereference between our brain and our nervous system, things begin to work like they were intended to...fancy that..
With treatments and drugs that cause organ death!!! Not to mention side effects, with drugs it is a vicious cycle, you have to take more meds just to take care of the side effects, some of which include stomach ulcers, nausea, diarrhea, and thats only to mention a few.
Specific Scientific Chiropractic Adjustments are the way to go. Your body will heal itself if intereference is removed from the nervous system. Look at the MRI's on You tube, and anything controlled by the nervous system, which by the way, is just about everything.
the speakers on my computer are broken, so i can't hear it...is this some kind of kinky gay soft porn? does anyone know? i thought youtube didn't allow this kind of stuff

This is a full spine chiropractor and should be avoided. Go only to upper cervical chiropractors: Atlas orthogonal, Palmer upper cervical specific, NUCCA, ICA, or Grostic. If someone says they do upper cervical ask if they do full body. .If they say yes keep looking for upper cervical only that uses x rays and instrumentation. Avoid knee-chest adjustment even if it is upper cervical. No twisting of the neck in adjustment. See video: "Dr. Gil's Upper Cervical adjustment (1)".
Stroke from chiropractic neck manipulation occurs when an artery to the brain ruptures or becomes blocked as a result of being stretched. Injury often results from extreme rotation in which the practitioner's hands are placed on the patient's head in order to rotate the cervical spine by rotating the head The vertebral artery,is vulnerable because it winds around the topmost cervical vertebra to enter the skull, so that any abrupt rotation may stretch the artery and tear its delicate lining.
Great Complicated Ques. Insurance Co.s get what the market will bear, a Neuro surgeon can afford more insur. Pediatrician doing births has greater risk than a obgyn so his malpractice is higher but higher than risk factor dictates. Rates go up not because of litigation or false claims. Largest rate increases occur during long bad markets and after disasters like Katrina and Andrews to make up for other Insurance Company losses. Chiros don't do surgery so giant lawsuits are rare.
Actually this is a common misconception, insurance companies don't give chiropractic a "break" because they can't afford it...You are correct that they are market driven, rates are simply a function of what they have to pay out...They don't charge the huge premiums because they don't have to pay out huge settlements for law suits... Therefore by extension chiropractic is in fact one of the safest forms of health care and is even now being taught at Harvard med under the name of "napropathy:"
There have been numerous lawsuits against chiropractors over this practice. Karen Santorum, wife of former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, won $175,000 in court after suffering a herniated disk at the hands of a chiropractor. A young lady named Heck suffered 4.5-centimeter tear in her left vertebral artery. One expert has testified in over 900 cases against chiropraters. They use phony advertising for DRX9000s and PRO adjusters what do you expect. Spinal Decompression, yeah right! Big Lies
yeah and you know how many lawsuits have been filled against licensed medical doctors? The number is astronomical compared to lawsuits against chiro's.
This not at all safe since it is not based on science and founded by a self proclaimed "magnetic healer". Keep in mind he said 90% of the bodies illnesses were related to the spine and the rest to the other joints. The basic science of using chiropractic without other metodologies and using in place of other specialists is pure folly. People are dying from this, children are being injured through manipulation. Chiropractic may have a place if they limit what they do like hearing specialist do.
wow, gotta disagree with you on the safety issue, I was actually referred to my chiro by my orthopedist...who is also one of his patients...once I started chiropractic care I met two other docs, a oral surgeon and a vet, who were patients as well
Some of you idiots if I told you apples taste bad you wont try them. Some will be smart and open enough to give it a try and make the judgement yourself. Same goes with anything...it worked great for me and MANY others I know so you can say what you want but the FACT is it sure makes me feel better.
Too many people concider going to a chiropractor like having a surgery. Concider it like getting a massage. 99% of the time its going to leave you feeling great...will it cure the pain?? Probably not, but sometimes yes.
I find it interesting that there is acutually a skeptical chiropractic discussion forum being run by "former" chiropractors. I would highly recommend people learn the "truth" from the national and regional chiropractic associations or from practicing chriopractors, not a discussion forum with an agenda.
there are even more discussion boards devoted to m.d's that realized how they were brainwashed into thinking the "only legal way to cure a disease is with a drug". they left the profession cause science is showing how much harm they do to people.... all health professions have their little nitch to help; they each offer something useful. don't ignore quotes from the medical journals admitting that chiropractors are better for back problems than junk surgery or drugs
Show me one of those boards. I know a number of doctors who loathe chiropractic medicine and also hate big Pharma. But I know of no one who bugged out of the MD side and I know of one person who went into Chiro strictly for the easy cash and he knew it was a fraud.
Please research all your doctors, medications and treatments not only chiropractors. Do not be overly skeptical though. You may talk yourself out of the only care that will work. Chiropractic physician are skilled doctors that are trained and licensed to adjust the spine. Their education is very similar to medical doctors. The main exception is that chiropractors focus on treating patients without the use of drugs, needles or surgery. They offer a service that no other physician can.
A Doctor of Chiropractic saved my life after a serious auto accident. 3 hospitals full of white cloaked MD's had no clue. Your comment is typical ignorance and prejudice.
Good video. I'm always a bit surprised that Chiropractic treatment can do its work while patients wear t shirts - I would have thought it important to actually see the spine and the bones. But then I know nothing about the technical aspects at all.
@ejnkrzykwa Douche bag. "He's a doctor" What he's not even human anymore. Calm down with the semantic crap. It's 2010 not 1952 Doctor or not he's still a guy.
neither will chiropractic. Do your research. More people are killed each year because of missed diagnosis, more people are paralyzed due to wrongfull spinal operations. Look up medical stats. There appauling. If a million MD's get it wrong and one gets it right then they are praised for accidentally getting the right answer, one chiropractor does one thing wrong its a headline. Please. Lets grow up before assume

heyitskevin 3 years ago
Specific Scientific Chiropractic Adjustments are the way to go. Your body will heal itself if intereference is removed from the nervous system. Look at the MRI's on You tube, and anything controlled by the nervous system, which by the way, is just about everything.

Well explained.
Medic88888 3 years ago
If stroke is so common why do chiropractors pay only 10% of what a md pays?

Great Complicated Ques. Insurance Co.s get what the market will bear, a Neuro surgeon can afford more insur. Pediatrician doing births has greater risk than a obgyn so his malpractice is higher but higher than risk factor dictates. Rates go up not because of litigation or false claims. Largest rate increases occur during long bad markets and after disasters like Katrina and Andrews to make up for other Insurance Company losses. Chiros don't do surgery so giant lawsuits are rare.
rmacevoy 3 years ago

Big Lies
rmacevoy 3 years ago
yeah and you know how many lawsuits have been filled against licensed medical doctors? The number is astronomical compared to lawsuits against chiro's.
96JUSTIN 3 years ago
This not at all safe since it is not based on science and founded by a self proclaimed "magnetic healer". Keep in mind he said 90% of the bodies illnesses were related to the spine and the rest to the other joints. The basic science of using chiropractic without other metodologies and using in place of other specialists is pure folly. People are dying from this, children are being injured through manipulation. Chiropractic may have a place if they limit what they do like hearing specialist do.
rmacevoy 3 years ago
wow, gotta disagree with you on the safety issue, I was actually referred to my chiro by my orthopedist...who is also one of his patients...once I started chiropractic care I met two other docs, a oral surgeon and a vet, who were patients as well

Damn I donno why but the bit when he clicked his back on the side went through me, still liked seeing it but felt weird seeing it.

Some of you idiots if I told you apples taste bad you wont try them. Some will be smart and open enough to give it a try and make the judgement yourself. Same goes with anything...it worked great for me and MANY others I know so you can say what you want but the FACT is it sure makes me feel better.
96JUSTIN 4 years ago
Too many people concider going to a chiropractor like having a surgery. Concider it like getting a massage. 99% of the time its going to leave you feeling great...will it cure the pain?? Probably not, but sometimes yes.

Learn the truth behind chiropractic from former chiropractors
Marley5205 4 years ago
I find it interesting that there is acutually a skeptical chiropractic discussion forum being run by "former" chiropractors. I would highly recommend people learn the "truth" from the national and regional chiropractic associations or from practicing chriopractors, not a discussion forum with an agenda.
ernest6789 4 years ago
there are even more discussion boards devoted to m.d's that realized how they were brainwashed into thinking the "only legal way to cure a disease is with a drug". they left the profession cause science is showing how much harm they do to people.... all health professions have their little nitch to help; they each offer something useful. don't ignore quotes from the medical journals admitting that chiropractors are better for back problems than junk surgery or drugs
glycoboy 3 years ago
Show me one of those boards. I know a number of doctors who loathe chiropractic medicine and also hate big Pharma. But I know of no one who bugged out of the MD side and I know of one person who went into Chiro strictly for the easy cash and he knew it was a fraud.
rmacevoy 3 years ago
Please research all your doctors, medications and treatments not only chiropractors. Do not be overly skeptical though. You may talk yourself out of the only care that will work. Chiropractic physician are skilled doctors that are trained and licensed to adjust the spine. Their education is very similar to medical doctors. The main exception is that chiropractors focus on treating patients without the use of drugs, needles or surgery. They offer a service that no other physician can.
ernest6789 4 years ago
Please research chiros before you give them any money. Many use unproven techniques and be skeptical!

A Doctor of Chiropractic saved my life after a serious auto accident. 3 hospitals full of white cloaked MD's had no clue. Your comment is typical ignorance and prejudice.

Isnt it better to take the shirt and shoes off during treatment?

why?

Good video. I'm always a bit surprised that Chiropractic treatment can do its work while patients wear t shirts - I would have thought it important to actually see the spine and the bones. But then I know nothing about the technical aspects at all.

If you get a bad haircut what do you do? You find someone different right?? Don't give up on Chiropractic.
spynldoc 4 years ago
Getting a bad haircut won't put you in a wheelchair.
teknomonster 4 years ago 4
neither will chiropractic. Please. Lets grow up before assume
spynldoc 4 years ago
You played the 'let's grow up' card.
How cute.
