I am starting a 29gallon fire belly toad tank. It will be 3 quarters water with 1 quarter land. I am using a piece of plexi-glass I cut and used silicon to water seal it. It is the water level will be 5 or 6 inches and I have the same water filter you are using it is just a bit bigger. On the land side I will be using eco-earth so there will be good humidity. There will also be guppies in the water. I will have a UVB light on it for there vitamin D3 and some light.

Very nice set up, I wanted to do the waterfall thing, and pet store the guy was telling my to get some slate rocks and do it that way. I wish I would've know they sold already made waterfall rock filters....The only thing I would've added to 2 yours is some like fake lilies so they could be chillin in the water in more places

@pokemonforever106 humans eat toads and lizards, and other herps. do you? maybe if you're kept hungry for long enough, here we can do a little 1+1 eh? a lot of horror stories about mixed tanks yeah, if you keep them fed and in a big enough tank to minimize territorial disputes and stress factors they'll probably do ok together, at least newts and fire bellies can live well together from what I've heard.

(Just a suggestion) but you should get some more guppies and try to breed them because they do breed like bunnies, if you do this you can feed the guppies to the fire bellies. That's what I've been doing for about a month and let me tell ya, free fire belly toad food is GREAT!

that is a very beautiful tank that looks realy natural, but i'm afraid that putting the guppies and the toads toghether is not a very good idea. fire belly toads have a light toxin that almost have no effect on humans, but on little guppies, could affect them in the long run. your idea of getting a 20 gallon is great, and maybe you can provide a water dish too. some fire belly toads like shallow water, while some like it deep.

thanks so much for the kind comment. they are now in a 20 gallon tank, and the guppies are all still alive, i have a much larger gradient from shallow to deep now in my new tank, and they usually chill on the vines in the deep water, or on the waterfall. check out my newer videos, you can see what it looks like now.

it all depends on how deep ur water is. the level my water is at wouldent support anything more than 2 guppies i dont think. its only about 1.5 gallons of water. i would stick to guppies.

they are really pretty and the croak at night which is really cool. they are very accurate eaters, like they can jump up 6 inches and get the cricket dead on. they are land and water which makes them really cool as well.

i have a pyxie as well, and honestly, it does nothing but sit there burrowed under the eco earth, u cant even see it. so really, a fire belly toad is better....

my FBTs were 7 a peice, and the water goes everywhere. u fill up the tank with water as deep as u need, and u just plop the waterfall in it. the waterfall is just a filter

thanks so much! it kinda depends on what kind of filtration system you use, if u use what most people use just the standard straight up filter with 1 filter you are gonna have to change it alot, but mine has 2 carbon filters in it, so it keeps the water VERY clean, and you can tell when u need to do a water change when the filters get dirty, but not very often at all!

its no problem man!! but yea the waterfall came with the 2 carbon filters, it was about 55 bucks like i said. and u kinda have to play it by ear as far as when the water needs to be changed, it depends on what u have in there, sence all the stuff in this tank is so small, prolly every other month, if u just had the toads, prolly every 3? they dont produce alot of waist, and the water evaporates alot so that kinda filters it.. i guess... lol!

um, its not recommended to hold any aquatic animal really... my way of lookin at it is its not good to hold anything that looks wet!! lol! there are natural oils and acids that can rub off and harm them, also your skin can like dry them off. so its not the greatest... but frogs and toads are more of lookin pets anyways, they arnt good what being held... hehe, hope that helped!! but
