It's also common sense in the industry. Payola + download fraud = Hot 100 crack. Not exactly a big secret. No achievements there, besides a good old scam. It is so obvious that although Mariah came a couple years after Whitney, Mariah came with something special. Not only is her music timeless(I still LOVE every cd) but she still, 20 years after her debut, is putting out albums that are topping the charts! Every Mariah Carey CD is good! Whitney had her run, but Mariah definitely won that battle overall!!
I have to say out of all her cds, her debut album is the most powerful when it comes to emotions. I really feel the power of her voice, her spirit, and her determination to make you feel what she's feeling as she sings. This debut album is one of those rare albums where EVERY single track is golden.

But I agree with you that Mariah's father is a black man, no doubt about it. There are lots of black people in Venezuela believe it or not and Mariah's grandfather is one of them.
