We, in Yosemite, are still covered in snow now too. I'll send you a video from tunnel view in winter of the valley in snow. Amazing how the seasons dramatically change Yosemite each year. It is an amazing place.
Hey Bridgette, I live in VA but lived for two years in the Fresno area and visited Sequoia, Yosemite, and Kings Canyon Parks as often as I could. I enjoyed your video it brought back those memories. Maybe for my 25th birthday I will head back out there for another visit. Thanx again.
Just so you know, THE best pizza in California can be found in a little mini-mall in Oakhurst, on Highway 41 South of Yosemite. The name of the place escapes me, but everybody in town will know what you're talking about if you ask.
The WORST pizza in California is Perry's Pizza in Bishop.
You are an inspired genius. Thank you for making this video. I cannot express home wonderful that place is. It is like a well spring of life for California. I have been to Yosemite 3 times and I've only see a sliver of what's there. This year I hiked up Half-Dome with my friends. I hope you try it on a future visit.
Every time I leave Yosemite I miss the place and think, "that's exactly what I needed."
Yosemite is awesome! I was there a year ago almost to the day. It was nice to avoid the summer crowds and enjoy the cool evenings. The initial draw for me were the mountains (and wasn't disappointed), but what really blew me away were the sequoias in Mariposa Grove. It's nice that you featured them as well, I think a lot of visitors overlook that part of the park. When I see such old, majestic trees, I wonder at how the world has changed since they were little saplings.
It's hard to believe you didn't graduate from some fancy film school, but have chosen to tell your stories using simple equipment available to anyone. Rub it in! The Fiesta looks right at home on those curvy roads. Assuming Maddy was your makeup artist, camera operator, grip, and caterer, shouldn't she appear in the credits?
wow, I'd love to go there when I make it to LA. I've lived in Norway by the fjords and I'm always amazed with spectaculat landscapes such as that and this, growing up in very flat southern sweden.
(saw my first mountain at age 23.... I know, not good, but I climbed it, and could look out over the mediterranean sea at sunset, I was blown away)
Wow was that 2 blended video's awesome job. When i visit colorado my favorate thing is to go to Rocky mountain national park. I have a special place to sit and enjoy the view. I,d love to live where there's awesome mountains all around me.
I once checked out some issues of "American Cinematographer" from one of the libraries on campus at the University of Washington. One issue had a picture on the cover of a guy standing on the little precipice atop Half Dome, pointing his camera straight down the rock face. It wasn't until I opened up the magazine that I realized that guy was my uncle! Yosemite is his favorite place in the world. He's climbed all of the major rock faces there. Just outside of Yosemite is Oakdale. Any relation? :)
hmm my husband wants to go on a road trip when he gets back from Afghan....maybe this would be a great place to go. It would probably be about a 5-6 hour drive for us too. hmmmm I'll have to talk to him about this. :)
Gosh. This video left me with a similar feeling to that felt after watching Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind - arguably my favorite romance film ever. :D
You must have spent a lot of time setting some of those shots up. It was totally worth it because it came out really well. It had that travel video quality to it. Really nice job.
Loved the train shot in the end. Great work. Looks like lots of fun. I miss the weekly videos Brig. My weeks arent the same without a few quips from my favorite,
I particularly did not like the ride in; I think from the info booth all the way to the campsite it took about 40 mins or possibly and hour of windy driving. It's so worth it, though. Heading back out is also a bit scary, because some of those windy roads have immense drop-offs with no rails,, ekk! It's all quite a sight to see, glad you had fun nature girl!
That was a very eye opening video. And I thought only bears "pooped" in the woods. You have helped many city dwellers realize, everything in the woods, poops.
I wonder if you thought of BASE jumping from that lookout point, with a parachute? 3000 feet is quite a drop.
