@RockDoctor07 ... yah, there are a couple gas powered winches available. The Lewis winch-chainsaw powered cable winch-heavy at over 30 lbs and limited to cable length plus what you carry for rope. The Simpson winch - honda powered capstan winch (this is what I carry plus a single and a double snatch block), weighs in at about 18 lbs and is 4 stroke so no mixed gas, limited to how much rope you carry. I carry 200 ft of 12,000 lb 1/2" dia rope plus all my anchor and mooring line
@smwizzz con't.... which equals 150 ft of extra line. There is another gas powered capstan mad in Quebec which has another 500 lb capacity but weighs in over 30 lbs and takes alot more space.... same with the rope, limited to rope cap.... . I also carry a small 14" bar chainsaw so I can cut short lengths of logs to roll the boat out on if nessecary. My boat runs steel plate bottom... it is better for the rock shelves we run in. UHMW is great for the rivers you guys run in but not as good
@smwizzz con't.... here. Application.... . BTW I like your vids, just letting those pps know there are option available for winches and bottoms on boats. I run an efi 496 cid big block c/w hamilton pump.... alot different than your sport jet. You have the boat for your app. My rig will haul a big load with no second thoughts but gotta be careful where I stop. your draft is probly half of mine sitting still. We both probly run close on step. Keep up the vids, I enjoy watching check mine..
@RockDoctor07 Bummer I could of helped Tailor it for you Did that for some time was actually going to do a trade in that..sold my sew machine I have a really good tarp planned for my 6x6 tho.
this vid is so cool i want to be on one of those trips before i die thanx RD i seen it first back on MOD and happen to find it agian flippen through your vids once agian thanx big blue

@scottwhit699
No, these things are pretty much "bulletproof". However, it would have been easier to get back in the water if he had UHMW on the bottom of the boat.

It's nice to have a helping hand! Excuse my ignorance, but could you use a winch and something like a pull-pal to extract yourself?
almasi72 1 year ago
@almasi72 Yes, you can. There are a number of ways to do it, I guess it just depends on a persons preferances, and the size/weight of your boat.
My boat is light enough that a few guys can push it around wherever. Bigger boats without UHMW can sometimes be almost impossible to move.

Yep, methinks one should hire an experienced Tuchodi pilot for this type of outing

The one stuck on the gravel bar is a single, not sure who made it.
The one we were in to get to the stuck boat is a Twin. 6.0L engines with Hamilton Jets. Built by Doug Shuman.
RockDoctor07 2 years ago
how long is the first boat with the twins in it? that boat must beable to lift a huge load
JRG2188 2 years ago
Don't quote me, but I think it's 22 or 23 ft.
It's unbelievable what that thing can pack for a load.
