The quality of 240p and 360p is usually mono out of both speakers while 480 and above is stereo quality. Maybe it's just a mono based song by default, so it sounds better to my ears than it really is. *shrug*

I too played this game on the NES and on the arcade. We eventually had to own all of the games until part 5, which we are glad we rented instead of bought. Regardless, this series, the Ninja Gaiden games, and the Mega Man games make me smile. The world was a much better place back then.
