I work and have 2 insurances. They will not work together to get my MS medication I checked about going to Cuba for treatment. They will treat me AFTER they call my Dr.back home to discuss it. It will cost me $40. My Dr. told me to go for it. The State Depatment contacted me to remind me I cant travel to Cuba. I replied "Bite Me!" "I'm going to Jamaica." It's too bad its only 60 miles away, by puddle jumper.
But I admit the system is flawed. I believe private clinics should be legal in Canada until our health care system is improved and part of the fees you pay at these clinics should be able to be claimed on a tax return. This will keep more doctors and nurses from going to the U.S and give people who happen to be put on a long waiting list a second option. Legalization of marijuana would be a great way to bring more money into the system.

@kijiji93 Well ANIMALS get better healthcare in Canada...To see a doctor you go on a waiting list for 6 months to a year..And if the prescription they give you doesn't work the first time, you have to wait another 6 months. For emergency surgery, or treatment, Canadians come down to Washington or Montanah. I recommend watching John Stossel's segment on healthcare, where he takes on every single one of Moore's arguments.

@kamikazee55 The reason animals can get in for certain things so fast is because it can cost thousands of dollars for these tests and the majority of people dont have the extra money so there is no line. When I was having horrible back and leg pains I went to the hospital was in within an hour seeing a doctor. They gave me a needle to get rid of the pain and a prescription for pain killers that I got for free and picked up on the way out.
@kamikazee55 The next day they sent me to see a specialist and he set me up for a scan three weeks later. Oh well I had to wait three weeks. If it was an emergency I would have been in sooner. Once the results came back they sent me to physiotherapy and everything was great after. And it cost me nothing. Yes, our system needs to be improved but its still a thousand times better than what Americans have.

My father had cancer of the kidney and he was to a specialist had all his test and was in a operating room within three weeks and he lives on a very low income, and received no bill. When my son was born I had 2 doctors and 4 nurses in the delivery room, I was treat like a queen.

With any system there are problems and since this John Stossel did this piece there have been a lot of changes to the Canadian system. Sorry, I still like our system better.

I work and have 2 insurances. They will not work together to get my MS medication I checked about going to Cuba for treatment. They will treat me AFTER they call my Dr.back home to discuss it. It will cost me $40. My Dr. told me to go for it. The State Depatment contacted me to remind me I cant travel to Cuba. I replied "Bite Me!" "I'm going to Jamaica." It's too bad its only 60 miles away, by puddle jumper.

But I admit the system is flawed. I believe private clinics should be legal in Canada until our health care system is improved and part of the fees you pay at these clinics should be able to be claimed on a tax return. This will keep more doctors and nurses from going to the U.S and give people who happen to be put on a long waiting list a second option. Legalization of marijuana would be a great way to bring more money into the system.

@kamikazee55 The reason animals can get in for certain things so fast is because it can cost thousands of dollars for these tests and the majority of people dont have the extra money so there is no line. When I was having horrible back and leg pains I went to the hospital was in within an hour seeing a doctor. They gave me a needle to get rid of the pain and a prescription for pain killers that I got for free and picked up on the way out.

@kamikazee55 The next day they sent me to see a specialist and he set me up for a scan three weeks later. Oh well I had to wait three weeks. If it was an emergency I would have been in sooner. Once the results came back they sent me to physiotherapy and everything was great after. And it cost me nothing. Yes, our system needs to be improved but its still a thousand times better than what Americans have.

@whalenbrowne Ha. The private sector is broken, because of government regulation. Do you see a problem with the food sector? The internet sector? The same principle applies to everything. Government is a monopoly, while the private sector has to always improve. Governments take over of insurance, and regulating it, and mandating it, and all else has crippled our healthcare. It's no longer about how much it costs. It's all about just handing them your insurance card.

@mahalcat I have never had any family members or friends have these experiences. I have never had to wait long for any serious issues, or getting a family doctor and I live in a community of 10,000. With any system there are problems and since this John Stossel did this piece there have been a lot of changes to the Canadian system. Sorry, I still like our system better.

I have been writing Congress regularly on the subject. They used to support single payer, but as the months pass I'm just getting form letters. So something has been turning them. Disappointing. Why does no one bring up HR676 ? I say it, I write it time and time again and the subject keeps getting changed. Grayson's idea ? I already pay for Medicare. Why should I have to pay more ? Well if they cover pre-existing, that is what I'd need. Over 40 ? Everything is pres-existing.
