  • I almost fell off my chair when you said "...its raining cats and dogs." My god that is one nasally accent son. :)

  • You sound silly!

  • to be honest....I want to punch you. :)

  • There is no cleveland accent. This kid sounds stupid. I live in Cleveland and NOONE sounds like this douche.

  • that's definitely not a jersey accent, it's super cleveland.

  • If you weren't so annoying and douchy about this, it would have been funny.

  • you did a good job defining all the subtle tones:)

  • ...that's not melk on your pillow son...

  • ,,,,,thats just how friends talk...we are not all news anchors....

  • Ha this is true, I hate when people correct me when I say pop not soda. IT'S POP!!! no discussion!

  • @kourtneyisshort Thank you! Only 80 year olds who still refer to it as a seltzer interchangeably still say soda!

  • when i see you at school tomorrow im just repeating everything i say 5 times

  • xD That does sound pretty similar to how everyone around here talks

  • This is even more hilarious when you move away. I moved away 10 years ago and totally hear this when you go back. The melk, daad, and mom just kill me. You forgot 'ant' for 'aunt' and 'veinnarian

  • @ dacstock.... my husband grew up in cleveland, ( parma actually) and he says "melk".

  • i'm from cleveland... you were just annoying.

  • Is it not true that reporters are trained to talk with a cleveland accent?

  • @DAcstock Sorry, I meant to say a "midland" accent...also, being from Cleveland, while I agree about a lot of the extra vowel sounds, you might be the ONLY person I've heard in Cleveland say "melk" for "milk"

  • @DAcstock this used to be true in the mid-20th century because Cleveland was still part of the "Midland" standard dialect region. Then the northern city vowel shift came along and changed almost all of our vowels. I'm exaggerating in this video of course but the vowels are still accurate.

  • @ThePonicar Ya you're right I looked it up. The shift affects more than just us, though. It affects us, the chi, and pretty much every big city around the lakes

  • this is SPOT ON. its amazing how when im outta the state people say ill be darn dem damnedd you thur sound likea cleeeeeee-lander! ahaha! good work man

  • Uh the mom always gets me. People always mock the Mahm sound.

  • Soda! lmao

  • hahahahhahaahahha I've lived in Cleveland my entire life and its sooo funny as soon as I came to college a few years ago everyone knew I was from Cleveland.....we don't talk weird, THEY do!!

  • I've lived in Cleveland my whole life, and you got it dead on, LMAO! I was actually in South Carolina years ago, and someone knew I was from Cleveland, just from my accent. LOL, I never realized that Clevelanders have accents

  • you sound like youre from the chi

  • PS Totally sharing this...

  • SO funny and SO TRUE!

  • really i live there and all i hear is "whut da fuck u lookin at nigga"?

  • -___- we don't even sound like that ya crazy.

  • I'm so favoriting this video!!

  • AHHH!!! I always wondered what the "CLEVELAND accent" was!!!!! And I could never find anything on it. This is PERFECT! Now I know why people keep telling me I have a Cleveland accent hahah THANK YOU! :)

  • i hate you

  • you keep repeating shit like that, i'm gonna shut you up

  • We dont talk like that ass!

    thats a jersey accent!

  • THIS CAT IS STUPID .hahahahah

  • yep been told it over and over even in afghanistan

  • Im from Cleveland, born and raised and I've never heard of a Cleveland accent. In fact, we are some of the clearest speaking people on earth.

  • FUCKING POP. So duh.

  • Cleveland eccent dat cam

  • We don't say pellow or melk. also, northeast ohio has is the most desirable accent!!!!!! i've noticed our accent a little bit by watching your video! thanks

  • ayee! its Cleveland all day!

  • we dont say melk we say milk big daddy`

  • Yeah, it's 'pop' in Cleveland, okay? XD We don't say soda unless it's 'Cream Soda' or something like that. XD

Oh, God, I hear myself when he says some words. I didn't think Cleveland even had an accent.

  • that's how i sound kinda

  • that's how i sound kinda

  • You said Dogs pillows and milk wrong.

  • Oh god!! I'm from Cleveland. Do I really sound like that lol?

  • I live in Ohio.....come onnnn! It's pop duhhh(: Although I live in Cincinnati....I talk exactly like thisss/ The way you keep repeating the words is hilarious to me for some reason.(:

  • I'm from Cleveland! Woot woot!

  • i'm 45mins Northeast of Columbus and i'm pretty sure our accents are the same :) mine just doesn't have all of the facial expressions...

  • @pinklemonkiwi Southern ohio or even northwestern or definitely different

  • I'm from The Chi and I can't hear an accent...I guess it's a Great Lakes thing, especially in Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Cleveland

  • This sounds the same/very similar to my accent and I'm from Detroit. We got that midwest twang

  • I live 50 miles from Cleveland and I notice that people there have an accent. I can understand most of what they're saying, so it's not really a problem. You're right, it's "pop." Soda is what your mom uses when she bakes a cake.

  • dude what is this video?

  • MILK ON MY PILLOW

  • When I first saw this, I craaaaaaacked up! Omg! You're freaking haliriousss! Holy crappp. I mean I've heard accents before. But omg, I died laughing.

    You're greaat. Haha. (:

  • This is so annoying.. please shove a pencil in your eye.

  • wtf??

  • I'm from Cleveland too and I have a serious accent. especially when I say "half, mom, dad and ass." But when I'm away from this area it's not as pronounced

  • I live in cleveland and I can't tell the accent D:

  • Hey i live in Cleveland and I say soda....Then again I was born in Tennessee so that might play a factor...lol. And Bufflo Wild Wings will always be BW3's/B-Dubs

  • aaaw do you really call soda "pop"? :)

    "d-ee-ahd" = dad :p

and you say "talking" funny, as well hahaha.

    hahahah here in cahwlifornia.

i mean, everyone's got an accent whether or not they themselves can recognize it :)

  • never have I known with such certainty that I am a victim of the linguistic virus known as the northern cities/urban vowel shift. (I'm from Nothern michigan)

  • @lengthyounarther Changes are completely normal to language development. It isn't a "virus..." we're just early adapters.

  • u like show ur bottom teeth more

  • ABSOFUCKINGPERFECT. Dude. FoR REAL! I am from Los Angeles but we moved to Parma when I was a kid... and people are like WOT WE DON'T HEEEAAAVE (have) AN EEEAAAKSENT (accent). BUT YA'LL GOT A MUTHEFFIN ACCENT. :) I've since vacated Cleveland for sunnier skies, but I do catch myself slip when I'm drunk.

  • i don't even hear an accent.

  • fuck you yankee. do me a favor and stay north of the mason dixon. REBEL FOR LIFE!

  • lol i had no idea we talked like this

  • @rrush2214 it's true!

  • "I dont talk funny" YES YOU DO

  • haha, this is so true. love it, thanks for sharing from a former Mentor gal

  • SODA FTW!

  • As a Clevelander, I noticed that there is a slavic influence to our dialect, especially if one is from a neighborhood that has a good percentage of immigrant/1st generation Eastern European population. Also, some Polish words do creep in to our lexicon. For example,

the Polish greeting "Jak Sie Masz" or refering to buttocks as "dupa" is heard occaisionally.

  • This is so spot on. If you watch this and don't understand what this kid is talking about, you must be from Cleveland. I found that I had to leave for a while to figure out that I haad an aacent. It is DEFINITELY NOT the midwestern-non-accent

  • @ThePonicar Paaarma.. Drag out that aaaaarma

  • Cleveland dude here. I say "soda" and definitely do not say "Dyad, Colin got melk on my pellow" or "What are you tocking about?" Maybe Cleveland has multiple accents?

  • @ClevelandRock i know i say dyad and mam i laughed when i heard him say it and definitly Pop!!! ... soda pff also i dont pronounce "our" right, example "this is our house" how i say it "this is are house"

  • LMBO dad.......collin........collin got milk on my pillow LOL

  • Comment removed

  • i dont think you sound funny but then agian i'm from the cleveland area and i dont think we sound funny but i do want to know what the ohio accent is i think southern ohio has an accent but not northern ohio

  • this video is confusing and annoying as hell. ha

  • @Kelsie154 hahah he was comparing the cleveland accent to the other ways,

  • First off, that video is extremely exaggerated. But you have to exaggerate these things to figure out how they sound!. If it would be too exaggerated we'd sound like Chicago or something, ick!!.

Secondly, I'm seeing a lot of videos on "Ohio accents". People from Cleveland sound NOTHING like people from southern ohio. nothing.

  • lmaolmaolmaolmaolmaolmaolmaolmao

  • ahah, this is funny :) & your kind of ccute :)

  • the way you keep repeating the words over and over and over is what makes it so annoying. the accent is also a little too exagerated. aaaand it is most definitely pop :)

  • @rorr111 exaggerated? you haven't been to parma.

  • @smash8979 actually my brother lives there...

  • L:KJFSL:KDJL:K OMG I'm from Ohio and this still annoyed me!!

  • you should make a video of how black people from cleveland sound because the white cleveland accent and the black cleveland accent is completely different. black people from cleveland dont sound anything like that lol

  • @petruccifan38 hahaha no frigggin duhh

  • hahaha now my friend believes that i have a cleveland accent! :)

  • I've had people say we have a mild Australian accent. But I think it's part Boston part Canadian with a dash of French Canadian.

  • The Cleveland accent is the second worst American accent next to Boston.

  • @RK831 What makes you say that? Just curious.

  • @ThePonicar its damn annoying

  • I'm on the. west coast of Canada ( Vancouver area) and our dialect is very similar to west coast USA with minor differences. We would say dot.com, Cleveland, accent, get the map, MUM, I spilled my POP ( not soda here either) , but MUM is actually spelled M-O-M so its American spelling with a Brit. pronunciation. MOM pronunciation is slowly making its way into the dialect as well. Our OU sounds such as HOUSE are clipped short. ie "hoce" but its slowly a becoming more elongated OU as USA

  • @RK831 UHHH YOURE AN IDIOT YOURE JUST JEALOUS BECAUSE WE TALK NORMALLY. I HATE YOU. IDIOT. CLEVELAND IS AWESOME. YEAAH. YES. MELK. MELK ON MY PELLOW. MEEELLLKKKK OOONNNN MMMYYYYY PEEEEELLLOOOOWWWW.

  • @tRoxurSox97 Dude, Cleveland sucks. The Browns left, LeBron left, downtown is dangerous, and the Cleveland accent is still second to Boston.

  • @RK831 Duuuuuude... The Browns never left. Art Modell left with a bunch of purple birds up his ass and good riddance. Lebron is a cancer and a whore. He won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs and good riddance. I don't blame you for being scared of downtown Cleveland. It's not for bitches. Go get yourself a liter of Stoli and find a closet to play some solo Russian roulette in with a with a full barrel.

  • @RK831 you dont live here, just because our we don't have good sports teams and one block of it is ghetto, btw who DOESNT have a ghetto??, doesn't mean it sucks. CLEVELAND PRRRIIIDDDEE especially westlake. westlake is rich, has AMAZING schools, music, arts, everything. and the civil war ball.

  • @RK831 FOAD, asswipe.

  • @MTM9559 WDYSTFUAGFYMITA, mofo.

  • @RK831 Lol, wut? O.O

  • @RK831 Cleveland accent is actually a pretty typical midwestern accent. Bawston is ear-rape.

  • Nice! this is awesome, I moved to California about 5 years ago from Cleveland, and people ask me all the time what sort of accent I have, and its a hard answer to give because Clevelanders (as well as those from Youngstown, and surrounding areas) sound like this!

    Thanks for posting!

  • If you want a soda in Cleveland there better be ice cream in it. Other wise it's still Pop!!!!

  • @hooksman60 Damn right! I'm from Cleveland too! :D

  • Dis is watt I'm tocking abowt wit dah Clevlen accent.... Goo job!!!

  • lol lifelong clevelander, and i can attest to both the "needs washed", and "pop".

  • hahaha wtf is pop dammit

  • @MattyOnTheTrack

Haha it's pop! like coke or sprite or pepsi and stuff

  • @ThePonicar no pop.

  • @MattyOnTheTrack never heard of "soda pop" yeah....

  • Based on the tags, i can see you know how to do some of the NCVS

whats the california tag for? xD

  • @postmatty

Yep! I have some basic knowledge about the NCVS. I at least know that I have it for some things haha.

The california tag was because I thought that when I did the "standard american" it sounded more Californian. I was probably wrong but it can't hurt!

  • @ThePonicar

hmm... wiki california english, then see if you think that sounds standard american xD
