No, all I am saying is that there are always real costs for political alienation. I am totally against their brand of fundamentalist Christianity, and especially their "Biblical Capitalism"; however, they still constitute a significant minority in the US. The more that you call them crazy, etc. the more erratic their behaviour will get with unknown consequences. We know that there is a movement for xtians to move to SC to begin laying the seeds for a fundamentalist state.

I never suggested that we should ignore them, if you read what I wrote, I am suggesting the opposite. What is happening now is this, issues like abortion, gay marriage, etc., are being passed, mostly, through the courts. Therefore, it is a positive for us who are concerned for progressivism, but it smacks of totalitarianism for those who do not and they lose faith in the democratic system. The more marginalized they are within the political system, they will inevitably seek alternative outlets

there was far more hatred, bigotry, intolerande & ignorance by southern"christians"in the 50's & 60's when truman intergrated the military, eisenhower insured blacks would go to white schools & when johnson signed civil rights legislation. dixiecrats became republican & their hate was so palpable, murder was their only recourse, & boy did they murder!

Whether we like it or not, these people represent at least 35% of the American population, thats about 105 million people in the United States! Assuming a quarter of those are hardcore, they could, if they were politically mobilized, congregate in certain states and create their own "reality" on the ground. Imagine, they could control their state's legislature, judiciary, etc.; since they know that the supreme court would strike down their laws all the time, serious problems could ensue.
