  • When in step mode, the 'random' button should act as a tap tempo switch. Thats all its missing. That aside, I'm still getting one

  • why are none of the knobs labeled. theres so may and the whole thing is very obscure to begin with

  • @azwel because all knobs do the same - adjust the carrier frequency!

  • is that sort on trimmer an IF or a true trimmer?

  • holy crap i just looked up the price for these and im laughing my ass off. who the fuck would pay 350$ for this rofl!!!!!! how do they stay in business by selling 3 of them a year rofl

  • I kinda want to create music with a science-fiction sound. I think this pedal might help in that regard, although I'd have no idea what to do with it...

  • ...or get a Ring Thing that's a ton more versatile (oyu can plug an expression pedal into it, etc) and has programmable presets that you can step through, just like this. Oh, and it's $200 less.

  • motp w/ the step switch!!!

  • This is Tom Morello's new favorite pedal! Useful for him, but completely useless for everyone else.

  • This is one of the coolest effects i have ever come across, ill never need one but very cool!

  • Should have called it "The Blue Baller".... Yea, its that cool- too bad you can't afford it!

  • HOLY GOD

  • I love it.

    'Nuff said.

  • Best demo ever. I had fun watching this... cannot wait to play with one...

  • I would get down to my local music store and try one immediately, but unfortunately neither Guitar Amp & Keyboard nor Bonners (this is in england) sell Zvex pedals D:

  • @InterruptingSheepInc

    Andertons in Guildford do :D

  • its almost as expensive as my preamp, its more expensive than my power amp!

  • I love the last two ringtones

  • i want zachary zvex to read me bedtime stories

  • @mlweidl: Exactly my thoughts.

  • i bet buckethead has one of these

  • @lantyboy he doesn't, but i could see him having one lol.

  • Is this really usefull? I think It could But less than getting a true analog synthesizer!

  • Bill Frisell uses one of these. Go tell him that.

  • nothing else than a normal footswitch, wich costs bout 50 euros.

  • i hate internal trimpots

    awesome pedal though

  • such an odd pedal. how the hell would it even be classified?!?? the closest i could think of would be under modulation, but idfk

  • This is cool and all, but where would i use it

  • Man, if this thing didn't cost $500 I'd already own one!

  • always wanted this

  • @femaniane Lol finally a good ringtone spam comment

  • soo awesome!! try my ringtone at twitterurl[.]net/i/kf

  • Kinda crazy and very cool! :)

  • geil! sowas will ich auch haben!

  • not really, it works pretty well for the right circumstances. bearing in mind the band Devvo had some of their biggest hits using ring mods, paranoid by black sabbath uses a ring mod not a distortion.

Combine that with the fact that ring mods are generally more useful with synths and keyboards and you kinda see where its uses lie

  • far from it, this pedal open up to a lot of stuff you otherwise wouldn't think of...

  • thanks for the input, bud.

  • they'd make alot more money if they reduced the cost of these.

  • i dont think they can

  • yeah, but because they make them by hand, and the technology is so unique, they unfortunately have to charge this much. otherwise they couldn't make them at all. pedals like these are fun toys, but i'm low on money as it is, and this thing just doesn't earn what it costs.

  • @OnlyByFishStandards I don't think that the odd zvex pedals appeals to a great number of people, like say, the mxr pedals which are pretty 'vanilla'.

  • @OnlyByFishStandards Exactly, I'd like to have one, but I won't pay 250 Euro for it.

  • @OnlyByFishStandards $855 in New Zealand...

  • one word. motp.

  • it hurts my brain

  • Zachary Vex is not a guitar effects pedal maker. He is a toymaker. And the greatest toymaker ever to exist.

  • true this is the ultimate jam gear

  • hes also annoying, and charges too much

  • @TheK3vin , Obviously you never heard or tried the Fuzz Factory; the most wild and unpredictable beast in the distortion universe...

Yes, I know you are kidding...

  • @TheK3vin Yeah, he's the Willy Wonka of guitar effects

  • that mix knob HAS to be on the top of the pedal, not inside.

  • So this thing would let you do some really interesting stuff in the studio and and some crazy textures to a recording, but I couldn't see how you can practically use it live. It's a cool studio tool.

  • Awesome!

  • Oh the nutty stuff I could do that this thing.

  • I DONT GET IT

  • YES YOU DO

  • Nice voice ;)

  • Bricks will be shat.

  • Cute.

  • are you house?

  • Ok I want this.

  • wierd thing but cool :p

  • joe satriani uses one of these

  • i like it, very cool, infinite possibilities

  • i dnt get it

  • sounds like it has a huge volume boost

  • Pretty cool but, holy CRAP, these things are expensive!

  • How much are they and where can I get one?

  • this pedal is cool, almost useless, but cool

  • not useless at all

depends on what type of music you play

if you play electronic music or guitar oriented jazz, ring modulators a great asset

  • the point?

  • ahahha i love this pedal...

  • great explanation, I might have to get this once I get some vanity money.

  • Pedal would be much better with a tap tempo rather than a speed knob.

  • the newer ones do have a tap tempo

i think jon cusack (cusack pedals) worked with zvex to put it in

  • i dont understand this pedal

  • Your Thumb is beautifull.

  • I love these kinds of pedals, but I'd rather spend my money on more usefull pedals. Maybe when I have too much money I'd buy this.

    It totally awesome :P

  • imbuyingtheshitoutofthispedal

  • cool

  • i dont get why anyone would need this pedal

  • Then you don't get musical diversity.

  • You should of had a nob for the one at the bottom, but on the top.

  • its awesome. but much to expensive :(

saw it on a music fair in germany ..

  • Finally someone thought of this! Awesome!

  • great pedal to give you really other-worldly, calculator, bleepy sounds but the problem I have found is that once you step on the bypass switch and then turn it on again the pedal starts at the beginning of the sequence which isn't so good if you use it in step-mode like I do.

  • really? so, if you're on the third light, and press the bypass switch, then press it on again, it's starts at the first light not the third? if so, for a £200 pedal, that sucks.

  • Wow, you found a way to make ring modulator way more useful.

It would be even more cool if you could vary how many of the tunable notes along the top it cycles through so you could fit more easily with different time signatures.

  • most awesome voice

  • i want Zach to deliver the eology at my funeral. Through a seek wah of course
