@satv365 I'm guessing you don't understand things well. People WANTED to end WWII so when they were finally called to duty they knew it was for the best. Thats why they are the Greatest Generation, they knew that if the world was going to be a better place for them and us, they were going to have to fight for it. If the govt thinks they are going to draft me ... they can screw themselves! After 9-11 our rights as Americans were under attack from the same government that is going to ask us to go to war for them? I say fuck the government ... I am not giving my life for any corporation or politican!
I would for my Constitution, the foudner's intent, and if I had a govt that respected my rights, the citizens rights and the rights of soveriegn nations!

for example in my country we have forced military service BUT our military is only to defend and defend inside its borders and europe is pretty peaceful so no worries :)

If people were a little more educated and knew how horrible war is, I don't think ther ewould be much more conflict. Sure, you can kill the bas guys now, but instead of killing new ones when they come back, wouldn't you rather have the buck stop here and tell them WHY it's wrong?

Personally, it is not the fact that I might have to serve in the army that scares me. It is the fact that we feel violence is so necessary that we all have to join up in the military. Although it seems like an unlikely scenario, it may happen.
