  • LOVE IT!!!!

  • I have this on a 45. Glad I'm not the only one who remembers this song. I'm 43 so I remember when it was new!

  • Kim hit #40 in billboard, 11-26-83. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • The Ting Tings should cover this!

  • I LOVE U AND MISS U KIM!!!

  • Two people are not fans of Kim Carnes or this song

  • I remember watching Kim Carnes perform this song on American Bandstand (another classic). I never knew there was an actual video for this song

  • i agree with the fact that this song deserved to be let's say Billboard top10 hit, but U.S.A is such huge continental (country), that even making to top40 means the song is big (if even huge) in some states / radio stations (specially during old times, when local city/ state stations had more power to pic up own playlists).. so even making it to top40 is great achievement always :)

  • now THIS is all-out 80s! <3

  • this is a cool song love it :)

  • Night Tracks..WOW!.lol...man,I forgot about that

  • cafe racer is my favorite album in 80s.

  • do u ever have a feeling ur born in wrong time? :////

  • This song got a ton of Airplay in the Northwest.. Also used to see it every weekend on Night Tracks on WTBS.. Anyone remember that show late at night???

  • Great song! How did I miss this in the 80s? I feel cheated! Thank God for youtube!

  • I cant find this song anywhere

  • @aj741852 You're lucky!!!

  • amazing song

  • Awesome song & music video

  • In these days of autotune one thing I remember about Kim Carnes really stands out: she recorded her albums semi-live in the studio so that when she was performing at a concert, it would sound just like the album. How awesome is that?

  • Thanx for postin'!

  • Another favorite of Kim Carnes likewise. I remember buying a copy of this when I was in my early teens and I about had a stroke waiting for it to arrive at record store. I had my ears glued to the radio waiting to hear it everytime it was played on Z-93 Atlanta. It still is so cool hearing it now..lol..awesome. Thanks to whoever posted this! Great Choice!

  • YOU ARE THE BEST!!! I have this on 45 single. I've always LOVED THIS SONG!! It's good to know I'm not the ONLY ONE!!! Thank you SO MUCH!

  • I like this.

  • Love that southern accent: "Is it a lah?"

  • I agree, realfunk, Only made #40 in Billboard. Should've peaked higher than that.

  • wow great beat

  • and the second time?hhehehehehehehe

  • I have many tracks of Kim carnes!

    This single is the best!

    Great post.

  • Definitely should've charted higher. Great tune that gets stuck in your head. I remember it on American Top 40. 80's music is awesome.

  • I always wondered why this song and Voyeur didn't reach higher chart positions than #40 and #29. The videos for both songs are great and much better than the clips Pat Benatar (who was much more succesful in the charts) was releasing in 82/83 right until "Battlefield", her first good clip.

  • I love Kim Carnes!!!

  • Yeah shes awesome.

  • Hey, I had the 12" version on Vinyl.....it was such a HOT song, those were the days!!!!!!!!

  • why this song stalled at #40 on the chart in late 1983 is beyond me...I mean...this is a fun song to listen to and the video is.....well......interesting...lol.Some of Kim's other videos like "Voyeur"..."Draw of the Cards" and "Crazy in the Night" were a bit odd and unusual but thats just Kim's style and for that WE LOVE KIM CARNES

  • classic kim.....along w/ voyeur, i pretend, does it make you remember, invitation to dance, crazy in the night, and of course more love and bette davis eyes....all great kim songs

  • This is a great song and Kim Carnes is no one hit wonder. She got so many great songs other than "Bette Davis Eyes", even though the song I mentioned is a great song however.

  • Love this single from Kim Carnes. Video has a strange Michael Jackson Thriller feel to it, though.

  • post this great song in limewire please.

  • This black lady will always love Kim Carnes' music!!!!! Kim, you are awesome!!!!

  • Very thoughtful of what you said.

  • Fantastic song! Love it!!

  • this song has always rocked! brings back great memories! didn't reach very high in the charts though. there should be a trance version made of this

  • Thanks for posting this. The 12" ROCKS!!

  • Esta cancion ochentera esta genial. Hace un par de noches la escuche en la radio, de madrugada y hoy he dado con ella. ¡Vivan los creativos años ochenta!.

  • LOVE listening to Invisible Hands and dancing to it as well.

  • 80'S VIDEOS WERE SO INSANE. THE BEST!!

  • God, this woman is PERFECT. I can't stop listening to her music. 80s all the way.

  • I THINK I WAS BORN JUST TO SEE THIS VIDEO

  • this should've gone much higher than #40 on the charts

  • How many weeks did it remain at #40, and if it spent more than one week at that spot, what date did it debut?

  • It was number 40 for two weeks, and I believe it was release in Sept. of 1983 from Kim's album "Cafe Racers."

  • @nothingfails

I totally agree that one! I heard it just this past weekend on "The VJ Big 80s Countdown" and it was at #34 (they use Cashbox).

  • @UltraPOPDJ I heard it too. Oh wow, it still sounded great. I listen to the countdown too.

  • classic 80s

  • And by the way, this song needs an extended version. A few more verses and extended synth solo... It's so short...

  • I definatelly agree!

  • This is the album version. It was released the extended version as 12" inch in 1983. It's avalaible as bonus track of "Café Racers" CD re-release by One Way Records in 2001. EMI America also included the dance version on a CD compilation titled as "Best Of Kim Carnes" (released in 1999).

  • Amazing song from my childhood. Still have the 7 inch single! :) And I love the video. the best videos were released during the 80s. It was still a new artform so everybody was experimenting. Nowadays it's all formula...

  • Thank U

  • Kim will perform live in Brentwood, TN on June 21th, 2008.

Details: Kim Carnes Fan Club website and Ticketmaster.

  • The thing is that she was in competion with Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, Rick Springfield, etc. around this time(1983). It wasn't the production. It was the bands and singers coming out that were more relevant than Kim Carnes, sadly. Kim vocally is brilliant.

  • As I have already post in another thread, Kim Carnes career is something I really can't understand. Although all of her records were brilliant, commercially she usually flopped. After a slow but steady rise, she made the record of the decade, "Bette Davis Eyes", but her immediate follow up was a commercial disaster. What followed also didnt sell well. What went wrong? Brilliant voice, beautiful songs. Was it a matter of marketing?

  • I remember when she sang this song as the 'pick hit of the week' on Solid Gold. Those where the days! This song is one of the most under-rated songs of all time! The execs at EMI America were all fools.

  • Not a major hit . . . but, should have been!

  • Does anyone know where I can find "You Make My Heart Beat Faster". That was a really good Kim Carnes song, and I can't find it here on YouTube. I remember a little sportcar in that video, it was cool!

  • Don't know were the video is, I've got all her albums though and i love that hit, I'm listening to it now

  • this is kims best video ever

and is more scary then "bette davis eyes"

  • "Invisible Hands" (composers: Martin Page & Brian Fairweather)

    THE BAND:

    - Kim Carnes: vocals;

    - Bill cuomo: Keyboard Solo;

    - Brian Fairweather: Background Vocals, Simmons;

    - Martin Page: Background Vocals, Jupiter 8;

  • I remember her doing this one on Bandstand.

It was the last time I heard it untill now.Forgot what it sounded like. Thanks for posting.

  • she was beautiful

  • This song has an absolutely killer synthesized bassline.

  • Takes me back to the post-disco 80s, when new wave/dance/pop RULED !!! Loved dancing to this in the clubs back then!

  • kaboompoop, you're right, Kim Carnes does look like Sondra Locke. Hey, does anybody know if she ever rescues/frees that poor guy from the Haunted House in the video?

  • Hey thanx a lot JeffD8382 for posting this great vid! Haven't seen it for about 20 years (gosh time really flies ,specially when you're having fun , (like in those memorable days of the 80's!) I looked for it here in You Tube once this year and I didn't find it , now tried again and here it is! thanx again! And if you have more don't hesitate to post'em! cheers!

  • can u send me this video on msn? please??

  • i love it!!!

  • Kim is the best for sure

  • She looks like Philo Beddoe's girlfriend from "Every Which Way But Loose" and "Any Which Way You Can".

    Right turn, Clyde!

  • She does look like Sondra Locke, you're right.

  • Hey Kim Carnes really seems a ghost

  • vERY BEAUTIFUL SONG BY A BEAUTIFUL SINGER(AT THAT TIME)!

  • 80s were the best for music !!!

  • right

  • que recuerdos de esa epoca sin duda la mejor

  • tu eres

  • First single from "Café Racers" album. This song peaked #40 on Billboard charts (Pop Singles/The Billboard Hot 100) in 1983 and #97 (The Billboard Hot 100) in 1984.

Kim Carnes released a brand new album titled as "Chasin' Wild Trains".

  • Thanks for the info about the new album.. I'll have to check it out! =)

  • I remember both this video and MJ's Thriller came on the same day as this video...Memories from 1983.

  • Thanks!!

  • I flippin love this video! that silver outfit and that hair just do it for me,..lol

  • The video was innovative in its era, although corny by today's standards. The song, however, is one of the most UNDER-RATED songs of all time!!
