  • Perfect for Matrix-Type fights.

  • this is how chuck noris sees gunfire!

  • Great, blew my damn mind.

  • @Chappeh5 Too bad for the bad mods. -)

  • Hey, Im creating a mod, And i would LOVE using this system, Can you make it real time? as in, that the bullets have ballistics, but in real time? not slowed down?

    Thanks!

  • @Olazaika1 Too late. Source engine is outdated. And I don't have any time and interest in it.

  • @connel1982 But the source engine is NOT outdated, its still very good.

  • @Olazaika1 Compared to the engines like Unreal, Cry and even Doom (very specific engine) it is outdated.

  • @connel1982 I know, but it's still used, and it is still very powerfull.

  • @connel1982 Are you planning to do anything for the sdk release (if there will be one) of the new 2010 source engine? It's clued in about being released because it's on the Source SDK list, but yet to be properly announced.

  • @NakedCreep Really? Seems Valve polished it (Source engine) a bit before final dying. -)

  • @Olazaika1 I can't find that source code. -) If I do - I will message you.

  • @imnotstpid noooh, not OVER 9000, he said OF okay, over 9000 is just too much xD ? :/

  • This is very cool. Proper bullet dynamics can add a lot to particular gameplay styles. Oh, and protip: they're called hitscans not momentary bullets.

  • @joebloggs93 Thanks for the tip.

  • the bullets move too fast xD

  • this is made of 9000 internets

  • @werd225 not OVER 9000?

  • Beast

  • i want this to be in some sort of Matrix-related mod for HL2

  • @Darkbuilderx Too late. Source is outdated in its current state.

  • so I herd you liek mudkips.

  • Would be interesting to make a Contra remake in FPS where just one bullet will kill you but they are slow like the ones showed here, therefore dodgeable.

  • @sanchezinc86 No interested.

  • LoL , matrix :D

  • hong kong?

  • @zenjej24 Me? Russian.

  • matrix reloaded

  • Woah.

  • say goodbye to the 357 sniper

  • dude... think of the pure insanity that firefights would be with this... while your getting shot at instead of seeing the cheap tracer things/nothing you would now be able to see the ACTUAL BULLETS AS THEY WHIZ BY your head/body AND COMBINE this WITH THE SUPRESSION SOUND EFFECTS FROM INSURGENCY? EPIC!!!

  • @deemon16 I would like to know how much this is affected by lag. As awesome as flying bullets would be there is alot of info to be synced between players. My guess is that this is only useable in single player and not multiplayer.

  • @Goth Classics

oh sorry i forgot to clarify

i meant like combining all of the above things i said in my last comment into a single player game because that is A TON OF INFO to be synced and would result in extremely laggy servers.

but yea ur right its only useable in Single Player

  • And they say source is outdated... Motherhubbers.

  • I always thought that this would be a really cool idea to implement in future video games, where the bullet is just a very small, dense physics object that damages the target based on the speed it is at when it collides.

  • I bet It would make it more challenging in video games to.

  • lol matrix

  • i meant half life 2, you touchy dumbasses -.-

  • let me guess this is just slowed down right

  • Wrong

  • but this one is different that that, this one has separate bullets instead of some lines that comes out

  • Its already integrated into half life, i just looked at the code yesterday. It creates this special little entity that's basically a flying bullet model that does damage on impact.

  • hmm awell you looked at the code so i shouldnt say anything else :P

  • Wow, you must be a dumbass.... when a gun is pointed on somewhere and triggered, it will be instantly spotted on that object or person in random area.

  • hah dumbass :P

  • no because hl runs goldsrc hl2 runs source

  • Hey, we need you for a mod called Half Life 2: Military Resistence

If you can help, I can fil lyou in on the storyline then. This is awesome. Love the work

  • Liek in smod or some gmod sweps.k00l

  • matrix gamemode any one?

  • Sprites or something would be better, having 100's of models flying all over the place during intense firefights can kill frame rates quite a bit.

    Nice either way.

  • @lunei66 Depends on the models... If you have some rly low poly models, it would be fine.

  • That is fucking awesome, someone should make a action mod using this.

  • guess, someone will.

  • @connel1982 Does this feature Bullet drop due to gravity on long distances? I mean.. that would just be awesome!! Sniping, then having to aim a little up because of the bullet drop :]

  • @dragefyr Don't bullets go too fast for that?

  • @Shawna1996 LMFAO.

Ever heard of friction, gravity and air resistance?

on long distances it drops, and moves to the sides depending on the wind...

So snipers in the army sometimes have to aim a little above, or ALOT above depending on the range of the target. Sometimes to the side depending on wind.

  • Smod

  • Also, have you coded it so that you don't need to actually have models for bullets? (just make them sprites or something. Basically I'm talking about the original way HL2 dealt with bullets - just adding ballistics to them) IMO, it would lag less (and you don't often see individual bullets that clearly, they're more like sharp lines that you see for only fractions of a second)

  • bullets do have models. making a bullet without a model is possible.

  • Trust me - if you don't seesomething it doesn't prove "the something" doesn't exist at all. Casual players don't give a fuck for the engine. Believe me. I'm a casual player to Blood and BloodRayne - do I know their engines - no. So do the rest. Your expactations are based on your own knowledge (life expirience), but I make my assumptions based on my professional expirience which is much richer and give more correct results. :)

  • hey now that you have started to reply :D will you make anything like this on Garry's mod? :) atleast a few thousand people would definitely die for it (including me) :) is it even possible to make like separate sweps of it, or do you have to remake the whole weapon system for this to work?.. so final question :) will you make anything out of this for gmod? :)

  • It is posible, but I'm not interested in making something for gmod.Just no passion for that kind of challenge.

  • you don't really like gmod do you? :(

  • Yes, I don't like it.

  • yeah but why? :/ i mean its easy to code stuff like sweps and such on it and why you dont like it? :(

  • Because, I don't consider Gmod as something valueable to community/gamedev - it is just a sandbox and nothing more. Who will remember Gmod after 10 years? Let's not consider real hardcore fans, lets look at the huge mass of so called casual players - they don't give a fuck for the gmod. But those casual players still remember HL1 or even golden axe. :)

  • thats because when you remember hl2/hl1 he second thot comes is source engine.. the third is gmod :/ people who play it will definetly remember it for long time

  • wow Valve should definetly add this to episode 3 :) that would be a break through in gaming (as in most valves releases)

  • Thanks. :)

  • Matrix Lol! xD good

  • man

if they put gravity on the bullets in smod

I would suck at it dfgdfg

  • Thanks. :)

  • Awsoem

  • Thanks. :)

  • I love how everyone is acting like the guy just implemented bullet time.

The point of this video was not the bullet-time effect at all, but in fact, was the fact that each bullet is given actual physics. Rather than being constantly in a straight line, this allows bullets to be affected by gravity, the Corealis effect, etc. that can affect the accuracy of a bullet. The reason he showed it to you all in bullet-time was to demonstrate it in a way that you could see the effect.

  • Yep. You are right. :-)

  • WANT

  • how do you or where do you dwonload it? ^^pretty awsome

  • I just can integrate it to any mod as an author.

  • cool :D you can make a mod for gmod or css or other games ^^

  • OMG Now this is awsome! I love it :D

  • They used this in SMOD

  • i hope they putt this in the new half-life game.. if there will be an new half-life game.. i hope so :))

  • as if man

  • is this something like a command in console.. or is it something you do when you make a map?

  • WOW

    amazing do worth my time

did it take a long time to make the VBS???

  • Uh, Source was coded in C++, not VBScript.

  • I was talking about Virtual Ballistics System as in "VBS" not VBSscript x'D

and i know source was coded in C++ :D

  • Ah. Okay. LOL.

  • nice did you code it or is it already in source and you just added the bullet model. however it's really cool and I hope to see it used well in some mods/games

  • Does this include the power of the bullets meaning that they actually go through stuff, like in Counter Strike: Source?

  • Kiano, you are the matrix LOL

  • that's pretty amazing.

i've seen some video of a guy in cs:s chasing the shotguns buckshot is slo-mo. looks preety cool actually.

  • That gives me a great idea!

Nice work. I think Ill implement some real bullets in my mod too!

  • lol, his movements are normal speed

  • they are and so what?

  • Well the bullets are moving so slow you can see them... so if you were trying to make it look good, his movements should be slow

  • demo shows how bullets can be slowed down, not _other_ movements/actions. of course, movements are also can be slowed down to be in sync with bullets. already did that in another demo (not published).

  • can u explane how to do that/?

    it seems pretty awesome

if u r board or something just show me the guide that uv learned this trick

please answer with a yes or no :P

    5 stars btw ^^

  • done by myself. no guides.

  • well done then...now can u tell me how ?xD

send me a pm if u dont want ppl to know about this...

  • What are the reason why should I do that? I don't see any.

  • wow dude calm i wont make a vid or something (as u can see in my profile, videos are not my hobby)

or go to my friends and say 'wow look what i found, im a pro...am i?'

just tell me how or say 'no i dont want to'

  • I asked a question, but you gave no answers, so no - I don't want to.

  • 1st because i wanna have some fun with these stuff

    and 2nd i dont care

    i bet u r a big bastard , and i dont want to communicate with u

    b

  • I'll make an example of you to all those who are so stupid.

I asked a question: "What are the reasons why should I do that?" So this means that you should give me some reasons why it is interesting to do for me. What is my benefit, interest in doing this for you? I don't care why do YOU need it. It is your wish, not mine, your interest, not mine.

  • I wouldn't give away my C++ source code either.

That would be all the sleepless nights of hard work out the window.

  • sow us a vid :)

  • make a tut on how to do this pls

  • "It's Payne, whack the sucker!"

  • Well, it looks like a simple projectile weapon with a slow speed set, but it's still really cool.

  • Combine have terrible aim XD The bullets actually went around you lol.

  • that is so. in real-time game they shot just like that.

  • Great vid! It's nice to see that the Source Engine can do so many cool things with games. And just for games! How realistic will we get...

One question - will the bullets be affected by how high/low the sv_gravity variable is?

  • yes.

  • matrix like :P

  • ya man that is fuckin sic, sdoooo dope

best coding for smod ive seen yet, good shit dude, good shit

  • it's not smod.

  • It looks greate you rock man

  • Ok, now try 50 of these guns going off and see how it lags, lol

Nice though... can't wait for release.

  • he reload is faster lol

  • i would download this in a second if it was a mod

  • matrix lol

  • trippy. . . i wanna learn how 2 code but the valve wiki is too confusing

  • this runs smooth in a small environment with one dude, but imagine the slowdown in a larger area with alot of people. computers just arn't powerful enough to have thousands of polygonal objects & AI character models (5000+polys each) & the player shooting + the gun model & what not

  • The PS3 can support that kind of pressure. Check out the polys used in Haze

  • no it cant cz pcs are much more powerful than any console

  • When you shoot the bullet will more or less only be in air for a second or two. It wont take so much power if any at all. Even with a larger group playing.

  • Look at the Unreal Engine 3 demo and you'll be pretty amazed at what games are capable of...

  • Couldn't you just do host_timescale 0.1 to slow it down? (1/10th)

  • You can do that, but it only slows down physics objects. Without coding the actual bullets into the game, there won't be physical bullets and, therefore, you would not see the bullets and would not slow them down.

  • ??? how 2 do that? is it on console??? lol hlp im dumb

  • it is implemented as an addition to basic source engine features. it is not a built-in feature.

  • Great coding job :-)

  • even though this engine may not look the best, its definitely one of the most revolutionary engines out there.

  • You DO know that the level in the video is just a box with textures right? Because THIS. IS. SOURCE.

  • Very cool! I was looking to create something like this for a Star Wars mod.... Well, I wanted to create lasers, which would obviously need to be physical objects in stead of random sprites that have nothing to do with the places where damage is taken. I soon realized that I can't make things like this yet. So it's back to Lua in Gmod for me, for the time being. Still, I'm very interested in how you coded this. Very well done!

  • nice, is this on moddb for easy access when it comes out?

  • That's not a mod. It is a code-bundle which can be implemented in any mod if its authors contact me.

  • hhhmmm hl2 with bullet time, would be dope

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • does the bullet arc down and stuff u know by gravity?

  • bullets are under unfluence of gravity (they are real physics objects) if you are asking that type of question.

  • wow.. where can i download this?

  • Nowhere. That's my private code. I've done it for modding purposes.

  • very nice man.. you should do somthing with this, its very cool.

  • Thanks. I'm open to suggestions from any mod project to help them implement it and spice up their mod. :)

  • thats pretty awesome! so would you get much of a fps decrease from spraying an automatic gun?

  • Well, it won't be too slow. I tested - nearly 7 combines were shooting, no problems. But if you create an unique weapon which will fire like SMG but without stopping - it will slow down the whole game.

  • ahh, thats still pretty damn sweet! nice work

  • I already told you. If a machine gun will shoot WITHOUT a single stop, then you will have low fps.

  • So would it be like the Half-Life 2 Crossbow / Team Fortress 2 Needle Gun or are these really going to be objects which can be stopped by the gravity gun?

  • Yeah, these are like crossbow bolts, but they can be, probably, stoped the way you mean. :)

  • hmm nice bro
