essential oils are not the same as infusions. essential oils are made through the distillation process and are much more potent and fragrant. BIG difference. nice vid on oil infusions though.
Awesome video, my mother used to make her own home-made oils back in her "coven" days. My favorite was always her clove oil. I don't remember what else she used, but it was almost addictive!
how long can i keep the oil after sent is infused? some say a year but i don't know. i make pine needles. o and would that irritate my skin. Ive done a test on it and it didn't bother me. The pine needle oil i mean
Interesting! So how do I measure proportions for strength? What's the minimum and maximum amount of rosemary herbs and oil I need to make qualitative essential oil?
This is not Essential oils, these are simple oil infusions and nothing more, Essial oils are steam distilled and or CO2 oe SO2 extracts, Again this is mis information
so can i use dried herb cause that's the only thing i can get my hands on at the moment(as being a 15 year old intrested on these things with a mother working in a herbs&spices company)
The oils will be all natural with NO chemicals when making them on your own. If you are not envirnmentally concious, it is STILL beneficial as homemade oils last longer, are more potent, and over all CRAZY cheaper. The only draw back is the time, but if you turn it into a hobby people will be willing to pay as creating them is next to NOTHING, but the profit can be as outrageously lucrative! =)
Could I use olive oil? Would that work as well as the almond oil or less so? Would it combine the 'essence' as it were or both the olives and whatever I'm using? -I doubt it but I could definitely be wrong.- Thanks a bunch, ta!
@Blackthorne369 --just use the google--I get mine from The Essential Oil Company--they are online, but have a 50$ minimum order policy. Bitter Creek, Snowdrift farms--just type essential oils or soapmaking supplies into your search engine. Snowdrift has an amazing amount of info and recipes and Bitter Creek also has great info.
I just started growing my own lavender plants. So how would i make my own oils for the lavender plant I'm growing

Don't use olive oil, it will go rancid. I almost always use jojoba oil, it seems to have the longest shelf life.
triv33 2 years ago 7
@triv33 Oh, thanks a heap! I would never have known otherwise. Jojoba, hmm? Now where to get that...?
