I know I can't speak for everyone, but I don't pretend to be a wizard when I'm playing Quidditch, and neither do the other people on my team. To me, it feels just like being on any other competitive sports team, with intense physical training and discussion of strategies. It's a great way to make friends. Plus, it has really motivated me to exercise because I want to play my best when I'm representing my school!
All I'm sayin' is, don't judge it 'til you try it. It's a lot of fun. :-)

@mesasha2004 In the books Quidditch through the ages, it is stated that americans dont play quidditch they prefer the sport quadpot, i assume Canada is the same as obviously very close and it would not require a stretch of the imagination to assume that they play the same sport
@daprettypiggy Disagree, our taste in sports in very different. American baseball and football isn't a big deal in Canada for example, and hockey and lacrosse isn't that big of a deal in America.

You guys don't get it. They play because it's fun. This isn't some horribly commercialized sport filled with cheats and bribes and athletes that get paid millions. Quidditch is played by people who just want to get a break from school, studying, whatever and do something fun. It's not about caring whether or not you looks ridiculous. It's better than getting wasted every weekend at frat parties like so many college kids do. :|
Okay so let's say they don't care about what they look like but the way you're putting it is that they have the option to not wear the capes but everyone is wearing the same color cape that differentiates the teams and you CLEARLY said "they play because it's fun" but isn't it a little FASCIST to say that because IN THE video EVERYONE has the same thing: Same colored cape, a broom, and a name.

Those are all options after joining quidditch. =P Joining the team shows you have the balls to do something different and find your own brand of fun. So long as you're not interested in a 'Snookie' and have some charm none of that's too hard. But I'm only speaking from personal experience so what would I know?

It is stupid because instead of a time limited periods (eg. 1 h) and scoring for getting one of more than one snitches (eg. 3 snitches, 50 pts each) in play while playing until the time is up the only point of this game is not to get a beating, stay under a difference of 140 or less and be the first to get the snitch. You are winning by 140 points, the opposite team gets the snitch, you lose; you are losing by 160 points, you get the snitch, you lose. So, what's the point of scoring goals?
@Sollett Its the same way in harry potter, catching the snitch normally guarantees victory. The fact that there is a time limit is admittedly an annoying concept to deal with, but it still looks fun.
@MissBossyLady09 Catching the snitch and lose would be as stupid as scoring a basket in your own one, so if you must wait to be at least at a difference of 150 or less proves me that the ONLY point in scoring goals is not get a beating so you CAN catch the snitch. So, why do you score goals then?: to be 150 or less so as to be able to catch the snitch, and losing by more than 15 points is a beating in football, basketball, handball and whatever sport ending in -ball, even on cricket.
@Sollett It's modified. They only get 30 points for the snitch or was it 50. Either way, Snitch doesn't guarantee victory if the other team is destroying you.

It is stupid because instead of a time limited periods (eg. 1 h) and scoring for getting one of more than one snitches (eg. 3 snitches, 50 pts each) in play while playing until the time is up the only point of this game is not to get a beating, stay under a difference of 140 or less and be the first to get the snitch. You are winning by 140 points, the opposite team gets the snitch, you lose; you are losing by 160 points, you get the snitch, you lose. So, what's the point of scoring goals?

@Sollett Its the same way in harry potter, catching the snitch normally guarantees victory. The fact that there is a time limit is admittedly an annoying concept to deal with, but it still looks fun.

@MissBossyLady09 Catching the snitch and lose would be as stupid as scoring a basket in your own one, so if you must wait to be at least at a difference of 150 or less proves me that the ONLY point in scoring goals is not get a beating so you CAN catch the snitch. So, why do you score goals then?: to be 150 or less so as to be able to catch the snitch, and losing by more than 15 points is a beating in football, basketball, handball and whatever sport ending in -ball, even on cricket.

@Sollett It's modified. They only get 30 points for the snitch or was it 50. Either way, Snitch doesn't guarantee victory if the other team is destroying you.

Oh I get it. I understand and respect people's choices to do what they enjoy and think is fun. However, I am also entitled to my opinion and I think that anyone who runs around with a broom between their legs trying to play a game that necessarily requires magic to play is.....well.....retarded. I am in high school. Not a nerd. And definately not a virgin. but i created the harry potter club at school and we have some pretty rough head to head matches. people get like legitimately hurt during the games. HAHA the best thing about it is there isn't a varsity its just fun and some way to stay active. Our group is actually mostly well known kids at the school. We don't really believe in cliques
