This is not a mexican folk song. This is a "habanera" by Sebastian Iradier (or Yradier), a spanish composer. I suppose that is the fate of this author, to be ignored. About the same thing happened to him when Bizet sort of "adapted" (copied) another Iradier's habanera, "El arreglito", arguing that he thaught it was a popular song. This song can be heard every time Carmen, the famous opera, is performed. It starts: "l'amour est un oiseau rebelle". Does it ring a bell?
fuzzbear6240- Your historic recording of musicians from long ago is also wonderful!
Hopefully people who enjoy the modern day live performance of this Mexican folk song will then visit your channel to hear the awesome Victrola recording of "La Paloma' sung beautifully by talented musicians of the past. Thanks!
