@moopism I can't speak for the entire German nation. However Ratzinger was only 6 when Hitler came to power so you can't exactly blame him there. In 1941 when he was 14 he was conscripted into the Hitler youth. He refused to attend HY meetings and joined a seminary while still in his teens.He was then drafted into the German army from which he deserted before the end of the war and rejoined the seminary in July 1945. All in all not exactly the actions of a committed Nazi.

Its obviously not about what happend, it was the law that all 14 year olds had to join the Hitler Youth, if he haden't he would have been dead, and he wasen't very enthusiastic about it his brother has said. Its about his and the church's response to what happened. He and the church in regards to it have taken up the common German position of "I am not responsible for anything that happened between the years 1933 and 1945." Correct me if I'm wrong, but he hasen't shown any remorse for what it.

Blaming the church? In fact the use of condoms has likely increased aids, simply because the condoms are in fact used in random sex acts, and multiple sex partners. Having only one partner or abstinence from sex, or at least limiting partners in sex is shown the only way to really stem the aids virus. The statistics have proven this in Kenya, Zimbabwe and Haiti.
