Bowie rarely, if ever, performed this song live . I think he partly chose to re-introduce it into his repertoire in order to show all those deluded Nirvana fans out there that he, not Kurt Cobain, was the one who wrote and originally recorded this song back in 1970. For me, Bowie's version is the definitive and best.

I think Kurt would agree too though that the original is better, the reason to cover something isn't usually to make it better its to add your own style too it, but this song is one of the greatest ever.
