Wonderful job on fixing the splayed legs on your budgie. I've had to do the same with some of my birds. Your method is a little different but worked great. Love the music too.

That's so lovely. What an amazing, caring job you did. I have two parakeets that I took in with leg deformities. They are amazingingly resilient. I put in a few different types of platforms and treat stands to accommodate them and they are doing wonderfully.

Why shouldn't they have a great life, too. And they do.

Interesting idea to use foam rubber. I usually use two split rings with a small rubber band between them to correct splay feet at that age. The feet sit closer together when the splay is corrected in a couple weeks.

Anche la mia "Pallina" è nata con una malformazione all'ala, ma con tanto amore tutto si risolve, sono proprio questi animali meno fortunati a dare le più belle soddisfazioni. BRAVA!!

i used to have a parakeet like that, she was green and had no idea how to bite hard, so she nibbles on your fingers. she died because she got in a fight with her sister and she couldnt fight back.....and btw its called "splay legs" :]

I was given a parakeet with one leg.. Then saddly my love bird got into her cage and took off her top beak,, But thankfully she is ok and now has another parakeet to help her.. he does her preening and helps her out with feed..

once i had a grey parakeet born with his paws severely twisted. he could barely stay on the stands in the cage but boy, he was a flyer . that little bird could fly longer and faster than anyone else of his brothers and sisters. he spent his whole life with his old dad when the mother died, his father was the only one in the cage who seemed to love that little creature. when others attacked him he used to go screaming near dad because no one in the cage messed with the old patriarch.
