Im doing this look for prom but luckily for me im naturally pale, with black hair and I have a freckle under my right eye so I dont have to draw it on :P
Brave of you both for posting, but I have to agree,....fail. Too many details missed or done incorrectl Plus, let's face it, even you used Dita's exact makeup, certain people just cannot pull it off.
As for the dweeb down there who commented on pores? WTF? This model has lovely skin. Take a pill or change the channel.
i see a lot of negative comments about what should have been done differently, or how you should have used a different colored hair model but honestly, considering that her hair is not black, you did a wonderful job!
I think this is a great Pin-Up look, obviously inspired by Dita that is great for those of us not blessed with Dita's looks and colouring in the first place! Allowing Dita's look and style to inspire us to be as well-groomed and glamourous as we can be with the assets we were born with is a greater compliment to her than turning ourselves into obvious Dita clones! I appreciate this toot!
fail, first of all, i think that in some point of the video should have been told that the skin has to be as pale as possible. The lips should be redder and more pin-up stylish. Eyeliner more darker and more contrast in the eyes! gosh... brown isn't the best haircolour in this look. another model, maybe?
@ComaHeroin I completly agree with you. Also, if you're using hot rollers, or even curling your hair with tongs/ straighteners, you do NOT curl it upward. You curl it downward, into your head. Not upward. Otherwise you get a flicky look and in the 40s/50s it was all about perfect and large curls. Not flicks. :)
@ComaHeroin I must agree with you...=) the skin should look more pale and flawless, and maybe its essential to put some light blush on her cheeks to design a kind of "face sculpture". the lips should be more red, in red wine tones, and have that finish touch that make them look like silk. the eye brows shold be lightly larger and darker, to improve the lines. and the eyes... well, for start they need more intensity, and that is created using a white pencil in the inner line of the eye
@marisaelly and like ComaHeroin said, the eye liner needs to be darker. and please, the lashes of pin ups must look curly and extensive, just like betty boop.
the eyeliner should be darker and the lips don't really have that pin up "pop" that Dita's do. None the less, it's a nice pin up look. I just don't know if I'd call it a "Dita Von Teese" look.
I agree, the liner should be jet black, basically...and the red needs to be deeper. Also, a whit tone eye shadow would have helped with the eyes, as well as a model with less defines lower lashes, as those should barely be visible for this look.
Using a model that doesn't appear exactly like whoever inspired the look shows how anyone can pull off a certain style if they want to. You don't have to be incredibly pale with black hair to attempt the whole Dita Von Teese look, especially considering the look itself is adapted from pin-up style.
I know someone that would be able to do this much better. She knows Dita personaly, even has her cell number. She also is a professional make up artist. With years of experience.
I agree, DVT doesn't look very much like this at all. She wears blue red lips and wears much heavier eyeliner. As already stated, for the hair you roll the rollers INWARDS. It's a nice makeup, but might I suggest you do better research on your subject before you offer a 'tutorial' on it.
Oh, and also, people are saying that little details are incorrect, but if you knew that, y watch a video on how to recreat a DVT look if you know how to do it already? Im totally confused by people.
the rollers should be rolled under instead of over. looked more like charlies angels curls. its all wrong. to do a correct dita look they should have payed attention to the precise details, thats why she stands out.
Hot Sticks are like bendy sticks that can be heated, used to curl hair... They're more manuverable although I always find 'em a bit tricky to put in initially...
Babyliss does them as does Toni and Guy...anywhere that does hair products usually do them...
utter rubbish!

what annoys me is how gentle she moves the hair, it makes the style look really loose and shite

guys ,this is just a reference video - no need to slate it. Just do it according to your OWN features. :)

brows need to be stronger, liner blacker, crease more defined, lips redder.

I really like that they use normal people for the tutorial's instead of models!

It's well done but it just all needs to be darker : darker hair, darker lips, darker eyeliner, that's what makes Deeta's look so bold and powerful.

I'm thinking that this would work better as a sexy Snow White look for Halloween.
Still good though.

Yes but she is not suppose to be Dita von Teese is she?
She is suppose to be just her, that's why she is making this tutorial so that everyday people can try it and not Dita lookalikes.

wow she really looks like dita in the end!
pukapa 2 years ago 3
how do you do that with long hair
does it still have the same effect
xxxBxx 3 years ago 7
Well it depends...
I had to have my hair cut to get the same result.
Long hair is heavy and very difficult to manage.
This hairstyle requires medium or short hair, you need volume and lightness. This is just my humble opinion, I hope it helps. Good luck ;-)
Christabel83 2 years ago 3
I think she looks great in the end :D the hair is so cute! i almost wish my hair was short enough to do that :D

Then why doesn't she post it?
Name dropping is bad enough, but third hand name dropping is SOOO much more pathetic.
loser.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
my friend is a well established makeup arist, her husband is a very well respected fetish photographer. They have many photo sets of DVT.
Posting a cell number on youtube? thats just stupid.
its second hand, a friend of a friend not the blackhole of third hand.

the video/model looks the same with dita
just dita much strong use make up.
just my opinion.

This is so funny because DVT doesn't really do her hair like that. She uses hot sticks a lot.

She also draws outside her lips to create larger, fuller lips. This video is all wrong.

Hot Sticks are like bendy sticks that can be heated, used to curl hair... They're more manuverable although I always find 'em a bit tricky to put in initially...
