I have a male 2yo and female 3yo. I wish there were more vids of them on here, they are cool snakes. They get to be completly, almost indigo, black even on there bellies. Theyre also quite a bit bigger than the mexican black king and more docile. Mine actually enjoy comin out and hangin

We've had a milk snake (the lighter type) for ages and she hasn't changed colors. Is this normal?

it depends if you have bought the black milk snake or just a normal one, the normal milk snake only grows to about 3 ft and does not change its colour.

What makes them 'black' milk snakes vs normal ones? They both look like a normal milk snake to me, or maybe it's just the lighting...

That you would have to ask an expert, because to be frank i have no idea, something to do with the genetics but i cant really go further then that, i just believe it is a sub species that has evolved due to where it lives would be my guess.

black milk snakes are born looking like normal milk snakes but at about 10 months old, they start changing to just solid black
