Do you guys really expect Neil to play the songs from Rush (the album) like John Rutsey played them? Did you also except Geddy to use Fender bass' forever, and Alex to use Gibson guitars forever as well? I for one am glad to hear Neil play like Neil, because he's Neil, not John Rutsey. Also, I'm glad that Geddy and Alex were experimental with their instruments. They're better musicians for it in the end. To all you complainers, where's your 24 gold and 14 platinum albums, huh?
Geddy seems to just a little trouble singing a song this old but i thought he wouldve still been able to sing this song in this period. he wouldnt be able to sing this now.
I just turned 45 years old, since i was 15 when ever i felt down and in the dumps, I always felt better after listneing to these guys. God bless them for entertaining us.
He went through a period where he was playing Strats. But he took out the single coil at the bridge position and replaced it with a humbucker.
Then he went through a Paul Reed Smith guitar period. And now, he seems to be playing pretty much Gibson Les Pauls exclusively, except he does break out the original white ES 355 for certain songs.
And really, when you hear the tine of the Les Paul vs the Fat Strat, well...there's a big difference. Maybe it has to do with his amp too.
Rush wouldn't even be around today if Rutsey had the chance to stick around with them. Not to mention there would be a large void when compared to Rush with Peart.
He says I Drank Swill Beer. Not 12 beer's. Geddy sometimes plays with the lyrics on some songs. The real line goes, cried some bad tears. I like swill beer better - or 12 beers.
alex has epic pants

I hate how Neil can't appreciate John's drumming and play it right, same with working man and in the mood.

I'd rather hear Neil play as Neil instead of trying to copy someone else.

Steinberger bass looks so "out". I prefer Geddy on vintage basses

This song sound better with the Gibson ES 355 Alex wrote it on. I love strats, but holy hell, this song is wrong with it.
Thank god he tours with the Les Pauls & the ES 355 again.

I thought Alex played an ES 335 on Rush.

I was only talking about the first album...titled Rush

Yeah, I see now.I'm the victim of subject matter melting do to time delay.
minxlabrada 1 year ago
@minxlabrada alex didn't have the 355 until 1976...so it'd be tough to write on a guitar you don't yet own.
that strat has a humbucker anyways, so it's not so bad?

@minxlabrada Same goes for Geddy with the Rickenbacher bass. That headless '80's special should stay in the 80's

i swear a phat 70's riff like that just doesn't sound right coming out of a chorusing 80's guitar.

"John did better."
Are you kidding me?

both peart and rootsey were great. The things happened they way they were suppose to happen, I prefer not to think about "what if rootsey live today"
