  • By combining rolling stock from its parent railroads, Burlington Northern already had " rainbow " passenger trains in 1970 - as the train from :20 to :25 shows. Look up " Burlington Northern Western Star " and you can find still photos of that " rainbow train " as well.

  • Yeah! SOO LINE ACTION!!!

  • When the railroads need help, the government was help the airlines, the highways. their answer was AMTRAC,and it has not made aprofit as of yet

  • I love the old American Diesels!

  • The Famous Train Names Such As The Milwaukee Road's Hiawathas!

    Chicago, And Northwestern Streamliners!

And Burlington Northern's Northcoast Limited Must Be Saved Too!

  • i forgot all about trains but now PLANES B-747s

  • whoops its a f45!!

  • Whats that 3rd loco at about 2:06

Looks like a f40ph but that was years away

  • FP-45. Looks like an F-40 but it's C-C trucked.

  • I never liked Amtrak's appearance when I read about it.

  • Check out the single notes horn at 2;29. I like the 2-note horn on the GP35 at 1:54.

  • HarveyHankelmann, sad but you are correct regarding the USA. I just took the Empire builder from Seattle to Chicago two weeks ago. It felt like go back in time. A better time for the USA.

I am working on moving to Israel because I fear what is going to happen here in the USA and wanted to take the Empire Builder before it was took late.

  • Love the Zephyr footage in La Crosse.

  • The track that circus train was running on looked rickety.

  • nice old wig wag signal @ 3:16

  • 2:06 boxcar gymnastics LOL!

  • The more I watch this video the more I feel that I was born one generation too late.

  • I would have to agree with you.

  • Agreed :(

  • @b5kalad amen to that!

  • great video!

  • look at 2:07- 2:10..is that normal for that s.p. boxcar to hop like that???

  • That wasn't the boxcar's fault, more like the track.

  • i don't know the ones behind it aren't hopping like that...ahhh good old 70's/80's railroad

  • the Milwaukee Road paint scheme on the passenger cars and the old locomotives is similar to the Union Pacific paint scheme

  • its because the MR took control of UPs passenger services because the UP said they didnt likethe way the CNW handled the trains

  • Love it!

  • Did you made that video by your own? This is brillian!!! Very well done!

  • The old 70s amtrak trains were awesome.

  • hindi maganda panooren

  • There is something extra with american rail...

  • You are on dope if you think thats an A-200. Its a S5T!

  • theres an A-200 at 2:30 too.

  • could you make a video with british engines?they look really cool.

  • In college in southern Wisconsin, we would drive up to Oconomowoc and watch the Hiawatha fly through town at 90+ mph in a swirl of snow.

  • I know where these were shot in in but what trains are in what town

  • lots of interesting Power Amtrak Should bring them back to service

  • sorry love they're all chopped

  • what that sucks one should be in a muesum but up in Madision Wisconsin theres a Milwaukee Road train set display

  • well not all chopped, but unfortunately we won't see any on Amtrak. I always thought it a decent idea to build new locos with the vintage bodies. Romance of the rails but with the modern amenities. We'll see what happens in the next 25 years or so- especially if gas shoots up to $6 a gallon. Some of those units are preserved though

  • wow lots of blue Conrail cars

  • Conrail did not even exist yet! Those are Great Northern coaches!

  • oh see I didnt know that sorry my bad when did Conrail come out

  • 1976.

  • That's not conrail cars.

  • WOW LOTS OF CONRAIL CARS

  • "and Rail service would forever change....' Yeah a whole lot LESS of it... :-(

  • On 2:27, the horn of the loco (F7A) spund like a clown horn.

  • I liked the GP35 horn at 1:52.

  • If you care it's a Leslie Tyfon A-200. The same type of horn used on GG1s, RS32s, and Geeps.

  • Looks as if the Milwaukee persevered when others fell by the wayside: Perhaps if the General Electric suggestion of wiring the gap (between Avery and Othello in the 1970s) went ahead, they might be still here raking in the dollars with their electrified transcontinental route (perhaps wired east of Harlowton)!

  • Some of the freight trains are hauled by new GEVOS.

  • Lol, that horn at about 2:30. hehe

  • That's a Leslie Honker you're poking fun at son 0.o
