Yeah, unlike Van Hammer, he really knew how to play Guitar. He called it Norma Jean. Course when he came to WWF, they didn't let him use the Maxx Payne gimmick because it was too similar to The Undertaker. So they gave him a tye dye guitar player gimmick which compared to all the crappy gimmicks in 1995, wasn't really that bad.

Yeah, it was the Payne Killer under his Maxx Payne gimmick, but when he later re-emerged as Man Mountain Rock, he renamed it The Whammy Bar.

looking back now the maxx payne gimmick was great. i was so caught up in guys like, sting luger, flair etc i never paid much attention to the midcard guys. shame bischoff buried him after the brian knobbs thing. vince should have used him in this same gimmick instead of the man mountain rock thing.

at superbrawl 94 maxx payne did a belly to belly suplex on knobbs and broke his shoulder afterward bischoff yelled at max payne and payne made some kind of sarcastic remark

and after that the character was doomed and then he was off to wwf as man mountain rock.

Actually I heard in a shoot interview from Shamrock, that he had problems with both the Nasties, they harassed his friend in a bar and made vulgar gestures at his Fiance. He went to their hotel later on that night and they beat the crap outta him. Years later he confronted Sags at an airport and said something along the lines of "Im gonna fucking kill you!" But Sags wussed out and Billy Gunn had to keep Shamrock from killing him.
