  • what a classic ive started to use daves it seems to be ok tried it on a faulty mask at first and it was quite cracky if thats a word with a bit of pressure any advice you could give me? havent used the cloth yet so that could be the prob but like i said any help would be great :)

  • Thanks mate for all your help one last thing how many layers do you suggest I should do for a strong helm perhaps how many you did

  • @PowerJayz1 sending ya a pm, got a lot of info, too much for a comment box

  • I left it for about an hour and I used 8 cm of hardener to 40ml of resin I think I should have used more hardener

  • @PowerJayz1 yeah try a little bit more next time mate, but remember it will take more than an hour to set properly, even with lots of hardener, give it time between coats, less chance of ruining it, also remember the more hardener doesnt mean the harder the stuff, just the quicker it sets, still need to do layers, i use small amounts of food colouring to tell between the layers so you can see where you have and havent been

  • Thanks for all your help mate, I have just did a small piece of it and it went sticky and it didn't go any harder any suggestions about that thanks:)

  • @PowerJayz1 how long did you leave it ? and how much hardener did you use to resin ?

  • Thanks mate I'm in the uk too I just got the resin is it David's fastglas if it is can you please tell me the amount of hardener you put with the resin to do your whole helmet thanks

  • @PowerJayz1 yeah thats the jazz, i dont really measure it mate, i just dollop some in, i mix mine in plastic cups, about a quarter of the cup does the whole helm for me and thats me laying it on thick, i then do a 5cm strip of the hardener ontop of the resin and mix it, you cant really go wrong tbh, its pretty simple, more you use, the faster it hardens = less working time, less = more working time, but slower curing time, but it will harden, using a hairdryer speeds it up too

  • Your helmet is cool, I have just finished making my pepakura recon helmet and I was just wondering what resin you used and where did you get it :)

  • @PowerJayz1 cheers mate, what ya need is fibreglass resin, im in the uk and i got it from halfords, big yellow can, in america people use bondo brand fibreglass resin, you can find these in the car sections at certain store ( cant say for america ) bondo branded stuff is used for the whole project, fibreglass resin, carbody filler, all of it, i get all my jazz from halfords for cheap

  • nice job. if you are willing, could you send me the rocketeer pepakura file and any other files you feel comfortable sharing. thank you. my email is jhartman81@aol.com.
