Mommie Dearest was very one-sided. No one knows really what happened but, we all know this: With every fiber of her being, Joan Crawford lived for her fans. Maybe her children suffered because of it. Whatever the reason though, we owe her some respect. Bette Davis was one of the best movie actresses of all time. Joan Crawford was one of the best movie STARS of all time. Bette was tough on the outside, soft on the inside. Joan was soft on the outside, tough on the inside. That's why they clashed.

Helen Hayes, June Allyson, Bette Davis, and Betty Hutton have verified some of Christina stories. Hutton lived near Crawford's Brentwood home & stated that she saw the children during or after moments of abuse. She encouraged her own children to play with Christina & Christopher to draw them away from their challenges at home. Crawford's best friend, Eve Arden, said that Crawford suffered from bipolar disorder; a good woman in many ways but, as a violent alcoholic, unfit to be a mother.
