  • "Kings of the Wild Frontier" is still a classic album, I would urge anyone to grab a copy, full of swagger and fun and damn good tunes. The band look cartoonish now but in 1980-1982 they were the hottest band in the UK (maybe only The Police were bigger) and were taken very seriously. The press was full of "would you let your daughter go out with Adam Ant" outrage, hard to believe now.

  • @ MrLlamachameleon: Music is timeless - Taste is individual... Be proud for not conforming to what the media say your generation should like! Revolt! ;-)

  • D'you reckon he'll give me that jacket?

  • im 45 and im stil mad on stuart(adam ant) wen i was younger u cudnt see my bedroom wallpaper due to all the posters i had, lol.also had me hair like him too ,the good old days .

  • What song/video is it with the chic with the butterfly tattoo on her neck? I can't find it anywhere and it's making me nuts.

  • Hehe, I was 12 or 13 at the time. Took this really serious...Brings back a lot of memories. Listened to this album over and over again for about a year - til ´Prince Charming´ came.

  • wow. one of my favorites. was 11 when this came out, my mum got me the LP for my birthday. Now 40, and this brought back the memories. fantastic

  • I was a BIG ant-fan as an 11 year old, still have this album on vinyl too.

You can't beat some of the b sides if you can find them either...

  • I am only fifteen now and have just discovered Adam Ant. All my friends laugh but I think he is one of the most talented, fearless men ever. I love him.

  • @MrLlamachameleon finally someone of my age who like's this type of music!

  • @MrLlamachameleon I fell in love with Adam and the Ants when I was 14. I am 43 now and realize that much of the cultural appropriation was wrong. I still love the band, and him. Never will I stop. Hopefully you can get some really early B sides too. They were more punk rock. Ant Music for Ant People!

  • @MrLlamachameleon ..good for you , its good to hear that teenagers are listening to great music and not the horse shit you hear in the charts these days . if they laugh just tell them to get a life . like i said good on you :)

  • This song is so good. I thoroughly enjoy the beat! :D

  • LOVE Adam Ant......such an awesome beat to his music!!!

  • does what it says on the tin - ant music

  • @multiplemugs

His looney-tuneness was & still is part of his persona / coolness. Fruitloops are cool & entaining !!

  • Again all this chatter about me, me, me, credit the band, their unique percussion. Most who look at this stuff should just stick a mirror on the screen or photos of themselves in the 80s, as that's all they're bothred about.

  • I saw him live at Guilfest and pretty much died with happiness! It was the best night of my life, without a doubt.

  • i LOVE THE BEGIN

  • One of my fav 80's bands of all!!!

  • I saw these on the kings of the frontier tour, they were blinding but this album was so comercialised . anything after this album was shit....prince charming, goody two shoes ouch ouch!!!! Check out there early stuff like car trouble, young parizians, zerox machine.....dirk wears white socks LP......proper punk

  • @Hankydoodle1 oh fuck off. They where amazing

  • Someome watched too many Errol Flynn movies.

  • @oliviaisgod hater

  • @HearWithoutPrejudice

    I like them, silly!

  • @oliviaisgod lol ok

  • @TheSilentMovieEra I think you`ll find the mighty Manchester United won the European Cup at Wembley in 1968 , thus becoming the first English winners of the European Cup,10 years before Liverpool won it at Wembley

  • My first single was also Stand & Deliver and my first album was Kings Of The Wild Frontier. I got his calendar for xmas every year, and I was able to see him live for the first time last Saturday in Liverpool. He is still a legend and always will be :)

  • Thats the best comment about him I have ever heard :) LOL

  • I have been a fan of this band since I was four years old! The first music I owned was the "Stand and deliver" single. They ruled back then and they still rules !!! -Jack Sparrow would get his ass kick if he meet Adam Ant!

  • 0:58 lol, gotta love Adam Ant!

  • Is it just me.. is Adam Ant the first and true Capt. Jack Sparrow! He was ahead of his time and misunderstood...now people pay tons of money to see Johnny Depp dressed like Adam Ant. Every time I watch any of the"Pirates of Caribbean" films I am waiting to break out in song. It would be great to have Adam do a cameo or two! The guitar and drums sound fresh now as they when I was 12! Music has lost it's "Art"!

  • Still bloody brilliant!

  • @gothgal0105. awesome

  • This really sucks!

  • Saw him last night in Glasgow, did not disappoint! And oh fuck, I still would!!!

  • @gothgal0105 Me too!!! He was amazing, hope he returns to our sunny scotland soon

  • @gothgal0105 awwww. tell us what was it like to see them in concert. did they do "stand and deliver"?

  • @sonofdark18 It was absolutely amazing to see him. He is amazing! Yes he did "Stand and Deliver." Doubt he'd have escaped alive if he didn't, lol!

  • A pure classic again by Adam & the Ants long live the 80's

  • LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I do agree with you, they were great.

The drums, the costumes, the video''s.

The only thing you can and want to do: play it loud, move with the music, feel it, shout en enjoy.

  • Ill be there on June 1st Birmingham..good times.

  • i'm so sad i'm not seeing him he is amazing! This guy is seriously such a babe! We need more musicians like him so we can overthrow all this crap we hear today

  • im seeing him in june and really cant wai,t feel like a kid at christmas. i was under 10 when he was at his highest but i was in love with him back then, god what i wouldnt do to him now!

  • Will be rocking out up front at one of his gigs in May!! Feel like a 12 year old girl again!!! Adam Ant is one of THE Pioneers of the 80s!!!! SSOOOOOO glad to see his triumphant return!!! :-D

  • An under-rated entertainer. Thats right - not just a musician but an entertainer.

    The Ants rock!!!

  • marco pirroni was who started my enthuasim play guitar...steve jones was my hero but marco brougth somethin new.

  • in my late forties now,if i shut my eyes and listen im 18 again mmmmmmmm(i wish)

  • Oh look at that strut, what a showman! :P

  • @astrikosdiabolos you mean marie ANTOINETTE?

  • one of the greatest songs from one of the greatest albums of all time, nothing compares and Adam is fucking mesmerizing !

  • Sweet times a billion years ago

  • Kk, someone? anyone? Can you tell me where he got that jacket?

  • @tommat00 Adam's jacket was actually worn by the actor David Hemmings in "Charge Of The Light Brigade " Adam got hold of it through the stylist Dave Whiteing, the look was actually inspired by the line " new royal family wild nobility ' like Adam was a noble savage, the jacket along with the Prince Charming clothes are now on permanent display at the V & A Theatre Museum in London.

  • @joannalexus1 I know about the display. Didnt know that it was David Hemmings, I loved that movie :P

Anyidea where I could aqquire a similar style :)

  • @tommat00 YES! sent you a msg with the websites for the Kings and Prince Charming looks....

  • I love the tribal drumming that the Ants used to very good effect, they are similar in style to the Glitter bands tribal drumming as well.

  • he was truly a great genious of music. Just like Amadaeus etc.

  • we were into this in the 80`s. i`m 41 tomoorow and still love this song!

  • Pure showman, so so so so so cool.

  • Antmusic for Sexpeople!!!

  • genius pure freakin genius..

  • I think I still have all his albums...somewhere. Mind you, they're on vinyl (and if they're where I think they are, they're probably vinyl sludge by now...CD's! I need CD's!)

  • This is one of my most favourites from Adam and the ants :) Love it!

  • @heida200 WE ARE THE FAMILY !!!!!

  • i wasnt born then but i love this song!!

  • The best song from a childhood hero. We were spoilt musically speaking back in the day. There doesn't seem to be a fraction of this original creativity in the charts.

  • I was an American who went to Germany for Six months in 1981 and I remember arriving in Germany and riding in the car from the airport to my new home for six months and hearing Adam and the Ants on the car radio for the first time and wondering who this was! I was an instant Fan! Was some Fantastic Music

  • fucking brilliant, bloke was as cool as fuck

  • I like bands who have a theme behind them.

  • Thanks so much for posting this! Adam Ant got me through high school. His music took me to amazing and interesting places, and really helped me deal with the hell that was high school. I adore him, always have, always will. I had an ant tattoo'd on my left earlobe 20-some ears ago in his honor, and I still have it.

He truly was a genius, a visionary, and quite possibly the most facially beautiful man who has ever lived (IMHO, lol).

So lovely to see him appreciated here! Ant Music Forever!! :)

  • adams website is at adam-ant.net check it out people he has done new music this year and is touring over in the UUK.

  • Adam Ant is soooo hott! i wish i lived in the 80's! awesome style & music too!

  • LOVE IT!!!! Those were fun years! You were not part of the 80's if you weren't part of the Ant Nation!

  • LOVE IT!!!! Those were fun years! You were not part of the 80's if you weren't part of the Ant Nation!

  • Definite American Red Influence here. STUNNING TUNE!!! Haven't heard this for years. Brings back so many memories. SIMON COWEL, ARE YOU WATCHING, WITH YOUR MANUFACTURED RUBBISH. THIS WAS MUSIC!!!

  • this is an amazing song!! if it weren't for the movie "Marie Antoinette", i might have missed out. i love this song!!! this band true was very innovative!!!

  • Bravo!!! Love Adam Ant, even today after 20+ years. He is so awesome, in his actions and lyrics. Thanks for posting this video!

  • I'd love to have seen an Adam/Siouxsie collabaration.

  • @lewisner That would totally make my brain explode! (But in a good way!) lol

  • Whilst Adam Ant was very popular in the early 80's, did we REALLY appreciate just how innovative & original he was? I think not. His music sounds just as good, if not better today than it did first time round. We need people like Adam Ant in the music business today, to bring back some style, class & originality, as opposed to the SImon Cowell manufactured, instantly forgettable garbage we have to tolerate now.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH It still rocks hard man, lol

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH --Thank you. You are utter perfection.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH You are so right! I think nobody dares to be different today.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I loved the sounds at the time but I certainly didn't appreciate what we had because I naively thought we'd always have good music. How could I have predicted the music scene becoming as bad as it is today?

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH YOU SAID A MOUTH FULL MY FRIEND.....THAT'S THE TRUTH........

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH You mean like Adam "Glam"bert? (What a copycat!)

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I so totally agree I was about 13 when this was out and although I loved it I didn't appreciate just how brilliant Adam was.....I look back on it now and i'm more in love with his music than ever...

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Well said!

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH

How very very right you are.

Im only 17 and i would give anything to have adam and the ants back or someone simular

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Well put. For myself, I ignored Adam Ant back then (being into classic hard rock) but in retrospect, this is pretty good stuff - especially when compared, as you say, to the caterwauling cookie0cutter pop "divas" of the sort Simon Cowell hawks.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH You are so right! Stuart, are you listening, dear? Get it in gear, baby!

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH well said my man

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH who says i tolerate it ;)

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH your not wrong dude ! ant music lost it's taste so find another .........

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I think there are a lot of people like that making music today, it's just unfortunate that (as you've said) we have big people at the top dictating what we see and hear, and thus the Adam Ants never get their hands on the money they need to produce and get out there.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Adam Ant’s originality in his music is totally out of doubt. He had some influences as every artists but his melodies were extremely original and personal, another romantic hero of the 80’s!!! I think he pretended to create some kind of tribe with Ant people or something like that but reality always ends with every dream, great artist and very original from the best times for lyrics and feelings!

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO agree! This is the only cassette that I completely wore out. Need to get his cd's. This must be wear I really loved the pirate look. He was so awesome!!

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I so agree. It was the only cassette that I completely wore out. Got to get them in cd form to finally replace it. Love this guy!!!! Must be where I really got into the pirate look. LOL!

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH they're there. :)

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I still luv him today as much as then... waited 26 years for him to come on tour again and when he is in my home town I am gonna be in Spain.. major fail lol... he never got the credit he deserved for changing the music scene.. Antmusic for Sexpeople, Sexmusic for Antpeople 4eva x

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Well said, I couldn't agree more!

  • this song made the movie marie antoinette so much more awesome

  • I think I was eleven or twelve when I first heard his music and have been hooked ever since..that was almost 30 years ago..I cannot believe how timeless his music sounds today. It rivals any crap that is playing the alt stations today. Adam please get well and outshine Devo on their comeback PLEASE!

  • @dietcoke1z i agree. i was 14 and living in england when i first heard this album. magic. drove my parents mad with "that noise" lol. then they got into the charts and when my dad saw they're outfits he really got confused. lol

  • This brings back memories. I saw Adam Ant with Inxs in Norman, Oklahoma on Friend or Foe Tour in 1982.

  • I'm going to have a white line tattooed across my face

  • i thought he was an oompa loompa at first

  • strange connection here! the jacket he wore in this video was worn in the charge of the light brigade, in the Crimean war! :0)

  • I loved a few of their songs and he tried to do something different and succeded for a while.

But, I don't think he's in a good place, or has dealt with the fact that he's not up there still..

  • white rabbits percussian gun totally rips this off!!!!

  • OMG!! Here I go again....

  • Brilliant.

  • This is really great! It's amazing how good he is live. That is actually pretty rare.

  • When I was a teen we used to drive around in an early 70's Ford Pinto my buddy used to borrow from his family, good times listening to AA on an 8 track or cassette, don't remember what that car had. Thanks for posting, brings back good memories!

  • @Jangocat Me too! Only it was a Pacer!

  • im 32 and ave loved these guys since i was 4 and had there badges on my denim jacket at primary school in 82, got all there vinyl from young parisians too room at the top. and can only wish i could ave seen them live. love the rythmn.. please make a come back adam and marco!!!

  • What a tune adam ant was the god of the early 80s he was fucking awsome ?

  • I just want to go back to the 80's and dress like this, be weird and listen to Adam Ant all day!!

    :)

  • let all start a page get the ant back togther for a uk tour facebook here we come adam and the ants one last tour please

  • Never a big fan but I have to admit that they did have a very unique sound for that time. Nothing else sounded quite like it and their image was really unusual as well. That whole Buccaneer thing wasn't around before Ant.

  • i just loved this song ad the gorgeous Adam.. how i wished for a private dance:-) still makes me want to dance around me room...love you adamx

  • great track from a brilliant LP shame adam [SG] is as mad as a blind wasp

  • @timzp i used to get my mums frillys shirts and paint a stripe across my nose when i was a kid..

Second album i ever bought was kings of...

First was the great rock and roll swindle..i was on the right path i suppose..lol

  • @ev3nflow Judging by your username you are still on the right path :-)

  • the drums sound like a sample of burundi black from the 70s

  • haha people were dressing like that a long time before hendrix - great song, great video, great band......and the drums, always sound amazing on every adam and the ants track

  • I saw these guys in Hartford Ct. in the early 80's after the Goody Two Shoes video came out and he had the horn section with him and they kicked ass ! I never saw a harder working frontman-singer, ever. His energy on stage was incredible, they had everyone on their feet dancing in place. He literally wore out the friggin audience ! I was exhausted after the show ! And I think the show maybe cost 20 $ back then !

  • Amazing! take's me back to the summer 1980 and a carefree childhood.

  • FANTASTIC SONG

  • Does the drum beat for this song not remind anyone of C30 C60 C90 Go by Bow Wow Wow?

  • @russell111 I believe that Malcom McClaren had a hand in the making of both Adam and the Ants and Bow Wow Wow and they both had the heavy african drum sound. I think Adam and the Ants came first but it was pretty close. Don't quote me. Great song! Thanks for the post.
