I think its really professional to know that some days your voice cooperates and some days it doesnt. She made these adjustments to the arrangment on the fly and that artistry. She knows her voice. As a musician, specifically a vocalist you gotta be able to roll with it... good for her

exactly. I don't see any thing wrong with this performance. Mariah changes up each performance just to make it special. And said to say it but Mariah's voice has definitely deteriorated but its understandable.

I was here @ this recording of BBC TV's Wogan Show in '91, chatting to her beforehand and yes, she DID have a cold. Very cleverly, she sings around the notes she couldn't hit without ruining her voice.

She must have been sick. She hits the high note, but it sounds like its wavering. So she neglects to hit the second high note. Then the third fails when she tries to hit it, and she covers it almost perfectly. Then she just abandons the high notes the rest of the song. She's damn professional here.

this was the time when she went promoting the song in Europe (i think it was around October 1991) but had probably a cold or a vocal drop and she couldn't hit thh whistle notes right, anyway she found a good alternative for the ending and this version is still good!
