I really like CV4 because it's actually the first Castlevania to trully grasp the gothic setting that is perfect for a Castlevania Game, the tone, the monsters, the characters and the music, they all helped giving the game this feeling of creepiness and loneliness that I love so much. I also like the other Castlevanias for the feelings they give off, but The rest of the Cv have more of a Shonen Manga or B serie movie feeling to them than this trully Gothic and frightful feeling CV4 have.

This clash has to be one greatest ever of the SNES years! The music made me so pumped to continue to battle the hard levels over and over again. well in the final level before you fight dracula you fight slogra, gaibon, and death. back then it was hard as hell. plus the death portrayed in this castlevania was the coolest ever.

Those battles were never all that hard, thanks to the meat given inbetween. But I definately agree on IV's version of Death being the coolest.

That little part before you get to Slogra though, with the "spike wheel", falling steps, and platforms into spikes was really hard... and it that last spike bit is even kinda hard now, as I discovered last night.

When I rented this game in 92, I would get stuck at that part, and it remained a mystery what was above for some time.

Yea it's funny, CV4 was easier than the others (mainly bc of controllable mid air jumps and whip), not in a bad way though, the game still had plenty of challenge. They made Death reasonably difficult, but they made Dracula far, too easy! He should easily have a 3rd form!

You know the one with Frankenstein at the end, but right before you get to him, those little spikes stab down when you crouch. lol  I got a couple of flashbacks. Haha, I remember all that, I thought some of the earlier bosses were harder than Dracula, remember that witch with the scythe? Damn that was annoying. Amazing game though, I loved the levels with all the treasure and gold, and the dragon skeleton things attached to the walls turned into loads of hearts/gold.
