Importing steel barrels for a real rifle is illegal, as are all real steel actions, bolts, etc. Not airsoft barrels. If I wanted a real steel barrel, with actual rifling and a caliber that is even somewhat small enough, I could just order one, even a minor can without a license of any type. And ABS, like all plastics, is a polymer. But it is not used on the guns you mentioned.

@MumfordAirsoft dude shut up. ABS polymor is used on many modern firearms. The ACR and Scar rifles, Glocks, HK mp5 and UMP even the New ak100 series rifles.

many of those firearms also use aluminum. Plus no air-soft gun is going to have a steel barrel because its illegal to import steel air-soft barrels into the US because some people fear they could be used to make real guns

@4everUSNavy The ACR and SCAR both use DuPont polymer, which is based off a completely different material than ABS. As for the MP5 and UMP, they use a different polymer reinforced with fiberglass filaments. As for the steel barrels, my rifle has a steel outer barrel and there is no legislation that makes it illegal, as well as the fact that they are nothing like a real steel rifle barrel. I suggest you stop using your imagination as an information source.

@MumfordAirsoft abs polymer is stronger than you think if it is of a highish quality. Also aluminium is strong and light weight but it may wear down quickly if used on high stress parts. they use both these materials on real firearms.

I've had experience both with spring and gas sniper rifles. I've had a UTG L96, and i now have a KJW M700. I have to say that gas is much better than spring with sniper rifles. The spring sniper rifles seem to be inconsistent and innaccurate. I'm not saying gas is necessarily better, just in my experiences i find gas to outperform spring.

ok, I think you are getting confused in terminology. First of, calling any composite a polymer is aweful way to refear to a plastic, since the term also embraces other kinds of organic matter. Evike and other airsoft retailers simply try to avoid the term "plastic", because it sounds "cheap".

"Pot metal" or "monkey meta" as we know it in the aisoft world is basically any kind of cheap metal alloy which are primaryli composed of zinc.
