Yes you are right about the music. I made the video for SS in 1984 and cut it to Souixe and the Banshees, Israel, which was played at the show at the Ritz. When the video was posted on YouTube, their copyrights department busted me on the use of that (WEA i believe), and make the unilateral determination to use this track instead. Sorry.
the music used for this youtube clip was NOT the music from the show. I did the music for this show and worked with steven on it. It was all Iggy Pop,punk. and stuff like that. the guns n roses album wasn't even released when this show took place. and i don't like them anyway. this show was mind blowing and beyond great. justin strauss. 2011.
I agree that the music sucks, I worked at Sprouse at this time and tried to talk him out of his fascination with Guns and Roses! However, seeing Terri Toye, my dear friend Christiaan (Piet), and those beautiful silhouettes that never saw the light of day again remind me of a time where art superseded the market and I am grateful that I was a small part of it. So fun, so exciting, RIP Stephen. RIP Kevyn.
I read about this show in The Stephen Sprouse Book and there were some great photos but that just couldn't compare to this video footage! Although, I now understand exactly what the text was reffering to when describing the exciting and, for that moment in time, refreshing colour and attitude of the clothes and the show which really connect with 80's club culture. I also love that the clothes look street but are of top quality in material and manufacture.
really appreciate the amazing video. surely you can find some more appropriate music. throws the whole vibe off.
