Thanks for all your effort. I did my schooling from suburban India. Although being a design engineer, i had some aversion over certain areas of maths. For motivation: examples for uses in day to day life for all these conic things. At least mentioned.

To be honest, very few people need to know about conic sections for their day-to-day life. They are really useful if you're studying planetary motion or trying to send a probe to jupiter. They are also interesting in and of themselves.

If I were in charge of the school system, I would cover statistics in more depth instead of conic sections. Much more useful.

I agree. Statistics is it. Doing Math for doing math is good for brain training. And a trained brain can be useful.
